In a FAIR and LOGICAL world the people who DECIDE to have kids would be RESPONSIBLE for supporting their children.

Why should a TAX PAYER be RESPONSIBLE for supporting the children other people DECIDED to bring into the world?????

The BIGGEST problem with the "income" tax system in the US is that it's become MORE of a personal decision tax than an income tax. Is it really an income tax f the amount you have to pay, or not pay, is based on your decisions and not your income.

Democrats keep talking about people "paying their fair share". if that was ACTUALLY TRUE then they would want two people having an income of $50K/year to pay the SAME amount of tax regardless of PERSONAL DECISIONS. Republicans are just a guilty of using "income tax" system as a method to get votes.

If you hold a family making 50K/yr accountable to "pay their fair share" then why not the billionaire class?
Those on the right scream socialism if the poor among us receive a dime of help but have no problem with corporate welfare, shoveling TAXPAYER money by the truck load to the top 1%.
A person making 7.25/hr in America pays a higher tax rate than a person making in a single minute, more that the minimum wage worker does in a year.

the left doesn't use FACTS about who ACTUALLY pays what percentage of taxes.
Here are some of NASTY FACTS leftist hate and ignore.

From 2018 stats for taxes paid:

Data shows that the top 1 percent of earners (with incomes over $540,009) paid over 40 percent of all income taxes.

The top 10 percent of earners bore responsibility for over 71 percent of all income taxes paid and the top 25 percent paid 87 percent of all income taxes. Both of those figures represent an increased tax share compared to 2017.

On the other side of the income spectrum, the bottom 50 percent’s income tax burden has been significantly reduced over the past forty years. In 1980, it stood at 7 percent. That dropped to a low of 2.4 percent in 2010 during the recession. As the economy gradually improved after the recession, the tax share of this income group gradually increased to 3.1 percent in 2017. Although the economy remained strong in 2018, this group's tax share fell from the previous year from 3.1 percent to 2.94 percent.

A person making $7.25/hour who worked 40 hours a week for 52 weeks would have an income of $15080. The standard deduction in 2020 for a single person under 65 was $12400. That $7.25/hour person would have an AGI $2680 which puts them in a 10% tax bracket.........10% of $2680 ($260) NOT $15080. If that $7.25/hour person has a child they get a tax credit that results in getting MORE money in the form of a tax return than they owed.

Yeah those pesky facts destroy the TALKING point that a minimum wage earner pays a higher tax rate.......but if it makes you feel better regurgitate talking pints instead of doing your OWN research you should keep doing so. SMH

The cause of the 2008 collapse in the housing market resulted in large part because of the "Community Reinvestment Act of 1977" or "CRA". CRA required the Federal Reserve and other federal banking regulators to encourage financial institutions to help "meet the credit needs" of the communities in which they do business, including low- and moderate-income (LMI) neighborhoods.

Banks were coerced to lower standards to "meet the credit needs" of people who prior to CRA would have NEVER qualified for the mortgages they were getting. Due to the ease in lending people began to leverage money by refinancing their houses as the values increased, people were using their houses as if they were piggy banks. It didn't take long until people were "underwater" and owed more than their house was worth. That led to people walking away from their houses resulting in a spike in foreclosures and lender being stuck with "bad paper".

But it wasn't just the Federal Reserve that helped cause the collapse. There were Representative Barney Frank and Senator Chris Dodd who tinkered with the CRA forcing lending institutions to make a quota of bad loans that certainly contributed to the mortgage crisis. Frank and Dodd's also push to reduce mortgage buying standards at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

Should banks be "too big to fail"? IMO opinion no, but banks shouldn't be forced by the government to make loans to people who aren't qualified. Too big to succeed is the real problem......both in the private sector and public sector, AKA the government. The big difference between the sectors is companies will either make the adjustment and downsize to survive or dissolve.....when the government just continues to get bigger with every failure.

They call this a "income tax credit" which suggests the people are getting back tax dollars they paid.

If a person/family gets MORE money in the form of a tax refund than they paid it's welfare, it's NOT a "tax credit".

If a family has an income of $150K and they NEED a "child tax credit" to support the children they DECIDED to have they are making financially irresponsible DECISIONS.

I'm not blaming the parents for taking advantage of the tax credit......it's the fault of the politicians who DECIDED to be irresponsible with tax dollars in order to get votes. But politicians from BOTH parties gave a stimulus payments to people who's income WASN'T effected by the pandemic. I have been saving a good portion of my income during the pandemic yet I received all the stimulus payments. WHY???? I DIDN'T need the government to supplement my income that's why the stimulus money is STILL sitting in my bank account.

Are politicians trying to make us all dependent on them because they KNOW dependent people are MORE easily controlled than independent people???? Communist and totalitarian regimes have shown that dependence on the government makes them easier to control.

Ignoring news, REAL fact based news, can be equated to the idiom "Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil, See No Evil" which is portrayed by three monkeys.

I'm not going let my actions or inactions be determined by the depiction of any monkey.

It is well known internationally how the Uighur Muslims in China are treated.

What I find troubling is that Biden has basically dismissed the genocide against the Uighur population in China, dubbing the mass internment a “different norm”.

During a CNN town hall after Biden had talked with Xi Biden said “If you know anything about Chinese history, it has always been, the time when China has been victimized by the outer world is when they haven’t been unified at home,” Biden began. “So the central — well, vastly overstated — the central principle of Xi is that there must be a united, tightly controlled China. And he uses his rationale for the things he does based on that.” In other words there must be forced unity.

Who is it that has talked about unifying the United States?????

I don't know who should be the next mayor of NY City but I know who it shouldn't be.

Mayoral candidate Maya Wiley wants to cut $1 billion from the NYPD’s budget so I'm hoping for the residents she is shot down in flames. Wiley's home is being protected by a private security patrol in her Brooklyn neighborhood so the cut she is proposing won't affect her.....shocking isn't it????

Mayoral candidate Dianne Morales supports the “defund the police” movement, pledging to cut $3 billion from the NYPD budget. She actually said "“Police actually don’t keep us safe” and that may be true since so many criminals who are arrested are never even prosecuted or have their charges reduced from felonies to misdemeanors.

Hopefully the next mayor will be a pro law, pro police, anti crime and pro law abiding resident of NY City.

"What's amazing is De Blasio is of Italian descent and should have been well aware of Italy (first in Europe & world) to reel under Covid in that period."
__________

A little info about de Blasio and his heritage:

de Blasio was born Warren Wilhelm Jr. His mother was of Italian heritage, and his father was of German, English, French, and Scots-Irish ancestry.

________

Supposedly he changed his name because of his alienation from his father but He changed his name to Warren de Blasio-Wilhelm in 1983 and finally to Bill de Blasio in 2001. Why would he have hyphenated his name and then drop Wilhelm?

IMO I believe it was a personal, and probably a political, advantage for his adoption of his mothers maiden name.

He probably doesn't care about his heritage since he has chosen to change his name so it doesn't reflect half of his heritage.

Robert Gates who was the United States Secretary of Defense from December 18, 2006 – June 30, 2011 and served under both President George W. Bush and Barack Obama, who criticizes almost nobody, in his book noted that ‘Joe Biden has been wrong on almost every foreign policy and national security issue for the last four decades.’

He was also the Director of Central Intelligence March 20, 1989 – November 6, 1991.

This is someone who KNOWS more about how foreign policies either help or hurt the United States than me OR anyone else posting on this thread.

Yeah....I'm not counting on Biden to make good foreign policy decisions with Putin, any other adversary or any allies.

To be honest, I don't understand how the Jews managed to get hold of a country that wasn't theirs.
Looking at history, they didn't have a homeland, and who cares if you live in a good country and have the freedom etc. to make a good living and education for kids.

The only problem was that in general no one liked the Jews and there was always anti-Jew stuff going on.
Now then, why would that be? Countries have been used to foreigners for a long time and it might cause a bit of a ripple for a short while, but people adept and adjust and integrate.
The fact this didn't happen with Jews anywhere, not in Europe, not in Russia, not in the US, not anywhere, makes one think. What is the single main factor here? The Jews.
Why don't they integrate? Why are they so difficult?
If it wasn't for them causing trouble by not integrating the entire situation in the Middle-East wouldn't exist and that area would be peaceful.
But no, having a home and everything one could wish for apparently wasn't enough. So they sneakily wangle their way into a country that isn't theirs.

Then the Western world gets involved, mainly Britain. And the United Nations.
For no reason whatsoever, except for maybe wanting to be rid of the Jews themselves, they create an area for the Jews in Palestine to live.
Palestinians agree, although not happy, many Jews that already live there agree. But... the extreme Jews don't. Of course not. Why would they? You have nothing -according to their view that is- but still demand more! More of what's not theirs! Arrogant is the word.

If these people would be easy-going there wouldn't have been a problem. There would never have been a problem with Jews.
I'm thinking this superiority complex is in their DNA as it goes back through history, and resulted in today's situation. And atrocities and oppression of the people whose land they're living on.

Thank you Britain. Thank you United Nations.
Biggest mistake EVER to give the Jews land in Palestine as it has caused nothing but trouble for over a hundred years now!

Thank you Britain. Thank you UN.
Can you maybe also sort this chit out?

To end I'd like to add I have nothing against Jews. I have something against people with an attitude problem and superiority complex. I don't like people who oppress and hurt others. I don't give a chit what their religion is or what they identify as. Wrong is just wrong.

Do you know Jewish history beyond this century?

Evidently by saying "Thank you Britain. Thank you United Nations.
Biggest mistake EVER to give the Jews land in Palestine as it has caused nothing but trouble for over a hundred years now!" she doesn't EVEN KNOW that Israel was founded in 1948. The establishment of Israel in British CONTROLLED area by the UN DIDN'T happen over a hundred years ago.
2021-1948=73. Simple math shows the establishment of Israel in 1948 has NOTHING to do with century old conflicts in majority Arab/Muslim areas. From the time of the Muhammad many Muslim states and empires have been involved in warfare with each other. You don't even go back very far in history to see the conflicts between Muslims states/countries or even within a Muslim country such as Syria.

Math? What has that got to do with it? Obviously he doesn't know that the trouble with Jews in Palestine / Israel goes a lot further back then 1948.
The fact that Muslim countries were fighting among each other has nothing to do with it. The discussion is not about Muslim wars. It's about a people in a country that isn't theirs.

Awww I see, facts don't matter to you. Actual history doesn't matter to you.
Jews are bad and Muslims are good. Got it. SMH

I don't expect much else from people in a country that support Israel, but... really???

Maybe read what the current upheaval is about and think again.

The 2021 Israel–Palestine crisis began on 6 May 2021, with Palestinian protests in Jerusalem over an anticipated decision of the Israeli Supreme Court in the eviction of six Palestinian families from Sheikh Jarrah, a neighbourhood of occupied East Jerusalem.
The protests quickly escalated into violent confrontations between Jewish and Palestinian protesters. The following day, the major Islamic holy site and the holiest to Judaism, known as al-Aqsa Mosque compound or Temple Mount, was stormed by the Israeli police using tear gas, rubber bullets and stun grenades against stone-throwing Palestinians.

STONE THROWING Palestinians against their fancy weapons? How civilized is that?

More than 300 people were injured, mostly Palestinians, drawing international condemnation.

On 10 May, after Israel ignored their ultimatum that afternoon, two Palestinian militant groups, Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad, began firing rockets into Israel from the Gaza Strip, hitting multiple residences and a school.
Israel began to launch airstrikes against Gaza, some 950 of which by May 16 demolished, completely or partially, 18 buildings including four high-rise towers, 40 schools and 4 hospitals, and also struck the Al-Shasti refugee camp

The f***ers target loads of schools!! Hospitals, and a refugee camp.
Cowards.
And I cannot understand how people here can support that ruthless murdering of people.
Think of being in hospital and then being attacked by these idiots? Or your child being at school. The Israelis don't shy away from anything.
Maybe remember how you people felt when you were attacked on 9/11. This is what the Palestinians live EVERY DAY.

Why can't Israel become humane and seek a peaceful solution instead for this violence?
What I've seen in that docu I mentioned earlier, Palestinians WANT peace. But when the Israelis were asked they didn't seem bothered one bit.
Logical as they live in luxury while oppressing the people that lived in the country before them.

It's utterly disgusting.

The TRUTH about what started this conflict.
Several Palestinian-Arab families living in Sheikh Jarrah face eviction from homes following a ruling from Jerusalem’s District Court.

The title to the property never belonged to the Palestinian Arabs currently residing on the property. There is nothing pernicious happening beyond a standard landlord eviction of non-paying tenants.

In anticipation of a Supreme Court hearing of an appeal of the ruling, Palestinian Arabs rioted nightly in Sheikh Jarrah, joining violent Palestinian-Arab attacks related to the Ramadan holy month, and culminating in violent eruptions across the city, including at some of Jerusalem’s holiest sites.

Hamas, a terrorist organization supported by Iran, has capitalized on the unrest by launching 1,000's rockets toward Israel, with at least seven targeting the capital city, in the hopes of killing Jews and inciting further violence.

Israel is a terrorist state killing innocent children ,men and women..what ur take on on this terrorism..

Israel defending itself against an attack launched by Hamas, a terrorist organization, doesn't make it a terrorist state. Hamas started launching missiles at Israel locations occupied by INNOCENT men, women and children, they ARE the aggressors.

Hamas launches and stores their missiles in locations that are occupied by men, women and children who they are using them as shields. Israel is ONLY targeting locations from which Hamas is launching missiles, not arbitrary locations.

Israel is using their Iron Dome defense system to stem the flow of missiles Hamas is launching at places with innocent Israeli people, they aren't targeting Israeli military locations. Hamas has NO defense system in place because defending lives, Palestinian lives, is not their objective. Their only objective is KILLING Jews and destroying Israel.

Those are facts.

Hamas has the blood of INNOCENT Israeli and Palestinian people on their hands which is obviously something they DON'T care about.

Did he FORGET getting the vaccine when Trump was still in office?????

Politics aside, Biden strengthened and reinforced the vaccination program. So while we may not give credit, his focus on making America Safe first over weighs his many faults.

Are you talking about many times more illegal immigrants coming into our country illegally?

Who are legal immigrants anyway? Chinese and Indians who have college degrees earned in their mother countries at tax payers moneys and in US and taking away high paying jobs.

And who are the illegals? If we cut through the scrap of drug cartel scare that Republicans have been spreading; most people entering are young and with children and just like your neighbor's children, they too have a natural affinity to USA; almost sons of the soil; on who you can depend to, for instance, serve in the US Army. In fact, these are people trying to escape the cartels.

For far too long USA has closed its gates to it's neighbors, and embroiled herself overseas. As they say, generosity begins at home. Who knows, fifty years from now Venezuela, Guatemala, Columbia - all Christian nations - may become your most dependable allies.

This view does not contradict with erecting the Border Wall. If Trump had increased the immigration cap and sped the immigration processing ...

I used to think Trump was right but after viewing the pictures of camps and the interviews of the refugees posted by Republican senators I believe Biden has not only humanitarian but also the longer term view.

Allow me to remind you that nowhere in the world do cops handcuff citizens as part of the arresting process let alone licensed to shoot and kill on suspicion of intent - but we are digressing.

Who are legal immigrants?????? Are you serious??????
LEGAL immigrants are people who FOLLOW immigration laws, it's NOT complicated.
ALL people who enter the country ILLEGALLY are foreign nationals who BROKE immigration laws. There is NO SUCH THING as illegal immigrants or undocumented immigrants. REAL immigrants like my family have DOCUMENTS which gave us the PRIVILEGE of living in the United States.

How does someone who was ALLOWED to live in the United States for a period of time on a NON-IMMIGRANT visa suddenly become an UNDOCUMENTED immigrant once they VIOLATE the terms of that NON-IMMIGRANT visa????

Biden does have a long term view.....he and his fellow leftist Democrats see a future voting block. What is troubling is that his long term view is contrary of his MOST important duty as president, PROTECTING Americans first, by NOT vetting EVERYONE ALLOWED to enter the country he is putting Americans at risk.

The media. leftists, Democrat, foreign leaders, UN members etc said Trump policies were inhumane.........but they were ALL silent when it came to the governments and leaders of the inhumanity that people were fleeing. Why hasn't the UN gone into the countries people are fleeing to help create a humanitarian environment? The United States ISN'T responsible for creating the conditions people are fleeing.....why haven't ANY other countries volunteered to give the people at the US southern border sanctuary????

I don't know where you got the idea that "that nowhere in the world do cops handcuff citizens as part of the arresting process". There are countries besides the United States where handcuffed are used when arresting people. In Canada not only do police use handcuffs qualifying security personnel may have equipment such as handcuffs, batons and dogs. In the UK people are always handcuffed behind their backs when arrested. Italian police use handcuffs.

He's already outperformed Trump in nearly every category, particularly on Covid.

Biden said "he had to start from scratch" in regards to covid vaccines.
Did he FORGET getting the vaccine when Trump was still in office?????
All politicians, including Trump and Biden take credit for things they DIDN'T do.
That being said because of the "warp speed" policy of Trump the Covid vaccine was done in a record time that had NEVER been seen before REGARDLESS of which political party occupied the White House. I don't give Trump credit for developing the vaccines but I do give him credit for cutting the NORMAL red tape of getting the vaccine issued an "Emergency Use Authorization" (EUA).

Biden gets credit for continuing what Trump started. Biden also gets credit of the HUGE increase of people entering the country ILLEGALLY. Yeah he has outperformed in allowing foreign national to break immigration laws and the drug cartels should donate money to the DNC for how much money they've made from human trafficking because of Biden cancelling Trump policies on the border.

As an ACTUAL immigrant, who's family entered the country LEGALLY, who's family RESPECTED laws I feel like my family is being slapped in the face by Biden and his administration for ALLOWING people to break the immigration laws we WILLINGLY followed.

Well when it comes to world war having a president that isn't owed by Russia has to be a plus.

Can't imagine why someone would say they were "70s liberals" unless they're total sellouts; we hated Nixon but his sleeze wasn't even in Trumps ballpark.

Sad..................................

I'm obviously the 70's liberal you're referring to so you must be calling ME a sellout? I HAVEN'T sold out because my VALUES haven't changed and my views are the same......the SUPPOSED LIBERAL Democrats have hijacked the liberal moniker and many of them who were politicians in the 70's are the actual sellouts. They don't believe in freedom which is the backbone of democracy, they believe in government control of ever aspect of peoples lives which destroys freedoms. The backbone of democracy and freedom is independence, not dependency. You like to talk about Russia.....it was their communist party that created a dependent society much the way many Democrats want to do....people like AOC and Sanders who ACTUALLY said bread lines are a good thing. These are the kind of Democrats who are pulling Biden further and further to the left.

Most of them probably don't know the root word of liberal and liberty is liber, Latin for free and freedom.

And just like always it seems you are STILL letting Trump live rent free in your head. SMH

How sad and frightening it must be to live in your world!

I see the human race on the cusp of new enlightenment. Unity.
It stems from worldwide communication and unity of ideals being shared via internet, telepresence and world travel ability.

'Old' attitudes are giving way to unity and as the world progresses thru the 21st century technology and innovation are changing the face of the world stage.

Along with these changes there is an increase in individual education teaching world unity values. The world IS getting smaller. People share knowledge. People communicate better.

Extremists will always exist but the people of the world are starting to gain control. It will never be pure utopia but it is edging closer and closer towards that goal. The world has been in turmoil for a VERY long time. Change is coming, even if some choose not to see it.

As education and unity increases, fear and anger decreases.
Who, in their right mind, wants to live in fear and anger?
Who, in their right mind, would choose pessimism over optimism?

China believes unity, FORCED unity. It's why they have brainwashing concentration camps that they call "re-education camps". Then there are the Uighur Muslims being imprisoned in concentration camps. The notion of "unity" is on full display in China and it involves the destruction of FREEDOM, especially the freedom of religion and most importantly freedom of thought. It comes down to either agree or be destroyed.

After the 2020 election a media personality, I don't call them journalists, suggested that China's methodology of "re-education" would be a good idea for Trump voters. We see the "woke" minority wants to eliminate diversity of thought, either unite or be destroyed and cancelled.

Forced unity increases fear and anger. It kills FREE thinking, it kills democracy, it kills REAL education and propagates ignorance through brainwashing and indoctrination.

I'm a 1970's liberal.....back when being a liberal meant you wanted smaller government, less government control of your life, more personal freedom and being independent which meant your were LEFT of center politically. Today being left of center means you want bigger government, you want more government control, you want a society dependent on government. It's well known that dependent people are more easily controlled.

You may be right that the human race is on the "cusp of new enlightenment"....as it becomes more apparent that those calling for "unity" want to FORCE unity by taking away freedoms and individuality people will revolt.

Evidently you don't seem to understand MY point. It's both irresponsible and intellectually dishonest to accuse every member of EITHER party of being guilty of ANY single party members actions. Just because you don't like a political party it doesn't make your outlandish accusation true.
I believe I told you that you should read liberal professor and life long Democrat Alan Dershowitz's book Guilt by Accusation.

I'm not equating anything but it does seem you are equating every Republican to being a pedophile. Nice try honey attempting to say I equated anything. LOL

I guess this means we should paint all Democrats with the same broad brush?

All Dems are the same as Cuomo?
All Dems are known womanizers like Bill Clinton?
All Dems are known cheaters like JFK who had a thing going with Marilyn Monroe
All Dems who kept donations from Harvey Weinstein approved of his actions?

And as far as the picture of Trump with Jeffrey Epstein goes Bill Clinton appears on 26 flight logs from Epsteins private jet. And Trump actually banned Jeffrey Epstein from Mar-a-Lago after he hit on another member’s teenage daughter...but neither of those FACTS fit your narrative....RIGHT????

Decide to get a vaccine or decide not to get a vaccine based on doing your OWN research.
Look at what medical experts on BOTH sides of the issue are saying.
Unlike Iran that has a "Supreme Leader" that dictates what people MUST do
there is NO Supreme medical expert who can dictate what you MUST do, at least not in the United States......YET.

I'm fortunate because I'm able to go to stores when fewer people are in a store.
I retired so I don't have be exposed to others who might not be as cautious as I am at a job.
I have done what I can to minimize my risk which has included wearing a mask, which I hate doing, social distancing and large gathering. But I've been taking precautions for many years during "flu season" and (knock on wood) despite not ever getting a flu shot I haven't gotten the flu in over 20 years.

I weighed the pro's and con's before deciding to get a vaccine despite my ability
to minimize my exposure. I won't preach to anyone to make the same decision I came to.....I will just say do your own research and make an educated decision based on ALL the available information.
