interesting to me when people quote the 'god given 'rights of life liberty and pursuit of happiness

I always wonder how any of those three things are actaully quanified in any measurable/attainable/maintainable way.

God walks with you as he does with me.

Life, liberty and the pursuit of individual happiness are rights that mankind can exercise (when not controlled by violence).

These things are quantified only when the community also exercises the other side of the equation.

The Law that binds us one to the other.

So many can quote the rights listed in the United States Constitution but few can quote the central law that makes it all work.

The responsibility to live by a code of conduct that allows us to exercise those rights with reason.

The 'Sharia' of the United States...

The 10 commandments. (Without the arrogance of attempting to define the unknowable essence - God).

If you follow them and so do I then it become easy for us to each have the Life we want, the Liberty to live it within the community, and the ability to Pursure our individual passions without damaging each other.

It is actually quite easy then to have these rights.

God walks with each of us.

Where do we go from here?
seriously....
Where does mankind go from here?
philosophically....
Where do we go from here?

That answer should be self-evident.
There are but two paths that lead to survival of the entire species.
The planet is a finite resource subject to the high probability of intrusion by outside influences (asteriods, comets, solar instability...ect).
We either leave it behind or die upon it.(indeed I believe the Earth will one day 'shun' us as a good mother would when the child is ready to leave the nest).

So we must either explore the path to space. Or find an alternative 'exit' (philosophy, other realms).

Giving that few (mythological) humans have found a philosophy gate to other paths, I reckon we should turn our intellect to finding the path off in the physical reality (as we obviouslly exist there).

Being one that likes to hedge the future for the best advantage I would say following both paths would be the best course of action.

That way when we do reach the end of the possible way forward in the physical realm we might have by then opened other gates.

Oh yes I could imagine if it hits us it would be horrible, but what if the asteroid was only a few thousand miles away from the moon whizzing by...would that change the weather on this planet or bring a big shift to us?

That would depend upon its mass and proximity.

Someone please explain to me why the westboro baptist church would protest a memorial service for the victims of aurora, colorado. They help signs that read "God bless the shooter". What did these people do to deserve this treatment. A 6 year old girl died in the shooting, is this a good thing too?

In my opinion the church is getting out of control with their protests. I don't understand why they would protest military services or a memorial for victims of a mass shooting.

Religion is the spectrum that develops around the Advent of a Prophet.

That spectrum ranges from extreme fundamental (follow the Words of the Prophets to the letter as men wrote it) ... to the extreme where the word is altered to fit a relaxed life style and the person beleives anything they want to do is allowed by God.

Westboro is (albeit not as far out) of the same extreme as groups like the Taliban.

They think that the shooter was sent by God to punish America for our sins. (may God have mercy upon each of them when their time of Judgement comes).

The spectrum comes about as a direct result of the exercise of the Gift of Free Will.

Westboro folks (like the Taliban) exercise that free will in an attempt to force others to follow the same narrow band of the spectrum that they do.

As I stated.

I pray God have mercy upon them when it is the day of Judgement...

(edit... In answer to OP's final question. NO it is not a good thing to do for it damages the innocent by the act of Judging... Only God can Judge).

I wonder if it has enough mass and the proper orbital dynamics to 'perturb' the structure of the Moon.

We are attached to the moon by the forces of gravity.

Such a perturbation might actually induce an earthquake (albeit a small one) here on Earth.

God created man. He made them male and female.
The male should cater for his family; but the females have taken all the jobs.

What chapter and verse is that exactly? I think that's from the New Modern Man's Version right?

This is direct from the Bible: “So God created man in his image; in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” - Genesis 1:27

There are two versions of the Creation in the Bible; this is one of them. The second explains the fall of man and ejection from Eden. As a result of which God strips woman of her equal status and places her under male domination thus: “To the woman God said…You will be dependent on your husband and he will lord it over you.” (Genesis 3:16)

Therefore, female emancipation is an aberration. :-)

Yet by the Grace of God and the Advent of Christ all sin is forgiven...

Therefore God has returned to women the same as he originally gave...

Equality with men...

'Word' is a tool of man.

The Word is not man.

Yet God is not the Word (being greater than any tool of man).

The 'Word' is mans imperfect intrepretation of the unknowable essence of God.

Claiming the 'Word' is God is indeed a truth... By the understanding of Men it is so.

Claiming that God is the Word is not so. God is greater than any small understanding of men (even if that man be John-that-walked-with-Jesus).

You assert that God is the same as the Word... John did not so claim.

Jesus did not walk with Adam. Claiming such a falseness opens the door for your soul to wander forever between Adam and Jesus in a circle (allways eating your tail, never knowing fullness from the meal)... Never knowing God, never finding closness with him (yet ever chasing in the shadow of his word upon the earth).

"Words" are a tool of man. But you're taking this specific "word" out of context here. It is a proper noun. It is a name/title. It is not a common noun such as the term for referring to what this message is made of eg., "words".

Perhaps I am.

Or perhaps you have taken that word out of context.

John-that-walked-with-Jesus did not claim that God was the Word...

Only that the Word is God... Which is true of all things.

He did make the claim of Jesus being the Word.

John 1:14
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

And you may say this does not reference Jesus, only references the ONLY begotten of the father. Well if he is the ONLY begotten of the father, the following verse explains who the John verse is in reference to.

Matthew 3:17
And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

For the poster that claims cowboy to be right. St. Augustine is a man and subject to the same folly as any other man. The Council of Nicea was a council of men (and subject to the folly of an Emperor and the pain of the sword).

Jesus was not at the time of Adam.

Jesus is not God.

John did claim that Jesus was the Word (indeed he was the Word made flesh). John-that-walked-with-Jesus also claimed that the Word was God (indeed this is so)... However John-that-walked-with-Jesus NEVER claimed that God was the Word (to have done so would have limited God).

Cowboy you use words written three hundred years after the Advent of Christ to attempt to prove that words written CENTURIES before the Advent of Christ reference Christ.

Words are a tool of man.

'The Word' is merely a tool with more 'emphasis', yet still a tool of man.

Jesus did not breath Adam into being. God did.

Jesus did not breath Jesus into being. God did (by the Well of Life and the Person of Mary).

Jesus did not speak from on high and claim that he was his only son. God did.

Yet you (and indeed many others) can not see this for the Circle of the Snake (and the accumulated Dust of Many that have walked upon the Word and left behind their inturpretation to confuse the unwary).

Enjoy your pergatory.

I have seen beyond the thin viel (indeed so also have many others).

Thou shalt place NO God before me... (is this not said plainly)... Why then would you place Jesus before God.

In that day where the Advent of Jesus graced the Earth the Cycle of Adam ended and the Word became Flesh.

In this day after the Advent of Jesus the Cycle of Glory began.

and the Word ascended unto the Heavens.

And the Glory of God became flesh and walked the Earth (as the Word did in the Time of Jesus).

Follow the path. You will find a truth beyond that which you have absorbed from men (with their limited understanding).

Jesus did not breath Adam into being. God did.

Ah, your comment is a contradiction in it's own. Jesus is God.

LORD God breathed Adam into being, Jesus is our LORD God.

All the following verses is "Jesus" speaking, our "LORD God". Weather you wish to put merit to the words is a different story.

Exodus 20:2
2 I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

Leviticus 26:13
13 I am the Lord your God, which brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, that ye should not be their bondmen; and I have broken the bands of your yoke, and made you go upright.

Psalm 81:10
10 I am the Lord thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it

Hosea 13:4
4 Yet I am the Lord thy God from the land of Egypt, and thou shalt know no god but me: for there is no saviour beside me.

Each thing you quote is a thing from the old testement.

Jesus came so that the covenant be fulfilled and the Word made flesh.

Jesus was not in the old testement. His mother had not yet been born.

You are still following the Temporal Loop.

Jesus is not God.

God has no end. Jesus rests in Glory.

Jesus did not walk with Adam you claim? Hmm, lets have a look at this.
------------------------
Genesis 2:4
4 These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens

Hmm, this first verse posted has Jesus in reference to the creation of everything eg., "LORD God".
--------------------------

Genesis 2:7
7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

This verse show Jesus eg., LORD God making man eg., Adam.
--------------------------

Genesis 2:16
16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:

This specifically states Jesus eg., LORD God speaking directly to the man eg., Adam.

As long as you follow the 'loop' of this reasoning... The Snake will attempt to eat its tail in vain...

It is a temporal loop.

Jesus was not until born of Woman.

Adam was not until breathed into being by God.

Without Eve the line that led to Mary, Mother of Jesus would be not.

Jesus did not walk the earth in the Time of the Advent of Adam. (for Jesus is the Omega of Adam).

If you attempt to place Jesus at Adam you create a Temporal Loop from which there is no escaping...

Pergatory. Neither Heaven nor Hell exists within that loop. There is no Grace when you continue to return to Adam looking for it. Rather than sup the Last Supper you again Sup the First Feast (and it fills you not but leaves hunger).

I can't believe this thread flipped from argument power over out of context OP.

Yeah, the words were as written, but you had the read the whole chapter to get an inkling of the context.

Much like Salmon Rushdie book on Islam, "Satanic verses." The Bible has them too if you don't understand what you are reading.

My 2 cents worth.

Absolutely true. This is where all the supposedly contradicitons come from as well. They read one verse, then go with it and not pay attention to the surrounding verses.

Cowboy the contradictions come from the snake. Some people follow the allure of the snake that eats its own tail and so miss the Majestic Wonder that is the Reality that is God.

I give you example from your own words.

"True, God has no ending. That is why he is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. There is no before God and will be no after God. "
This is the reasoning warned of by the symbol of the Snake that Eats its Own Tail. Following such reasoning leads to a Temporal Loop of endless duration (it has no exit point, nor does it reach to the world beyond the circle contained by the body of the snake.

Jesus is the Alpha and Omega within the cycle of man.
Alpha of the Cycle of Glory, Omega of the Cycle of Adam.

If you place Jesus in the position of God you envoke the Snake.

God is outside the cycle.

God Is.

There is no begining or end to God.

God just IS.

If you can not understand that concept then you will be trapped forever in the Circle of the Snake. Allways seeking the Forgivness of Christ for the wispering of the Snake in the Garden.

Yet all you need do is accept the Grace Given by God through Christ... and step out of the circle.

If you place Jesus in the position of God you envoke the Snake.

I placed Jesus in no position. He was God before I was even thought of.

Matthew 1:23
23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

Isaiah 9:6
6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

John 20:28
28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.

Emmanuel means LIGHT is with us.

If you believe that Jesus was as is God then you indeed listen to the wispering of the Snake.

but I have spoken to you many times of the Temporal Loop that you are trapped within...

Jesus went unto God. In the Glory of God you will find him.

If you look for him where was the snake you will find naught but the snake.

Jesus went to his father.

From the wikipedia

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Immanuel

Immanuel (or Emmanuel or Imanu'el, Hebrew עִמָּנוּאֵל meaning "God is with us") is a symbolic name which appears in chapters 7 and 8 of the Book of Isaiah as part of a prophecy assuring king Ahaz of Judah of God's protection against enemy kings; it is quoted in the Gospel of Matthew as a sign verifying the divine status of Jesus. It is a theophoric (a name which contains the name of a god) made up of two Hebrew words, אֵל, ’El, meaning "God", and עִמָּנוּ, ʻImmānū, meaning "with us".

God is with us is not Jesus. (rather it springs from the Advent of Jesus)

Immanuel (as fortold by Isaiah) is not a man... It is a concept.
For God is indeed with us. He walks with us each one.

Jesus is the Alpha of the Cycle of Glory and the Omega of the Cycle of Adam.

God is eternal and has neither Alpha nor Omega. Infinite has no begining or end... Begining signifies a non infinite start. End signifies a non infinite stop. God by the very nature of God is eternal (infinite)

If you place Jesus in the portion of reality that is Gods alone you are blind to any truth outside the Circle of the Snake.

You will know neither 'heaven' nor 'hell' both of which are also outside the Circle of the Snake. It is a temporal loop.

Immanuel (as fortold by Isaiah) is not a man... It is a concept.
For God is indeed with us. He walks with us each one.

Evidence of this please? Because after that it speaks of "Jesus/Immanuel" as if he/it was a man. Please give some evidence that it's just a "concept".

God is eternal and has neither Alpha nor Omega. Infinite has no begining or end... Begining signifies a non infinite start. End signifies a non infinite stop. God by the very nature of God is eternal (infinite)

Absolutely true, God has no beginning nor end. Thus he IS the beginning and the end. There is no before God and there will be no after God.

Alpha - The first one; the beginning

There was no time before God, he is the beginning of everything. He has no starting point, he's eternal. Always has been and always will be.

Omega - the ending or last of a series

There is no after God. There will be nothing after God, for there is no after God. Thus he is the end.

Infinate - niether begining nor end.

God is.

There is no begining to IS.

"Alpha - The first one; the beginning" Indeed... Adam is the begining of the Cycle of Adam - Christ is the end of that cycle (yet God created it).

"Omega - the ending or last of a series" Indeed. The Cycle of Adam ended at the Advent of Christ... Which brought also the Path to Glory for the Human race (yet Glory comes from God which is greater than all the Cycles of Man)

Cycles are a thing that mankind is subject to.

God is not subject to the word tools mankind uses to explain that which it can not understand.

Step away from the Circle of the Snake.

God move even beyond the Chaos (for God is Greater than the Abyss and Greater than the Chaos that exists beyond the Abyss)

God is Absolute (which is greater than either begining or end - having neither in its makeup)

Absolutely, infinite is no beginning nor an end. Just as God. God has no beginning nor any end. Thus he IS the beginning and the end. There is no before God, nor is there an after God. That's not saying God has a beginning or an end. Just that there is no before God, nor is there an after God, thus infinite.

If you agree then why do you claim Jesus is God? Jesus (in his own words) is both begining and end...

Yet God is has no begining or end.

Jesus has no beginning or end, well the Word has no beginning and no end. And Jesus is the Word in the flesh, in the form of a servant.

John 1:1
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John 1:14
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

God has always been, there is no time before God. Thus he is the beginning and the end. Because there is no before and no after. That statement does not mean he has an origin point, just means there was nothing before God because there was no before God.

You quoted " In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." You read the words but understanding escapes you (the Circle of the Snake - the temporal loop blinds you)...

For though the Word is God... God is NOT the Word. God is greater than all things man.

Word is a form of Man.

Image of...

But Not God.

Do what Adventure? You totally escaped me there. There was not even any mention of man. The Word is not "man".
