I have my opinion, is that a crime or what? You people have issues if you can't AGREE TO DISAGREE in a public forum.

That could have happened long ago had you not come in with your holier than thou attitude, and making up "facts" to fit an opinion, and taking cheap potshots at anyone who tried to explain why you were factually incorrect. You are entitled to your own opinion, but not your own facts.

And "you people?" Is that a sexist comment?

Wow, you just love to attack viewpoints which you dislike. Maybe you have a crush on Estelle. Such passion!!!

I'm sure if you rewind and look at what was actually said, you will see how incredibly incorrect you are with this statement. The part about me attacking. Nowhere did I attack. I merely countered an uninformed opinion. If you think that is an attack, perhaps a dictionary would be of assistance?

Uhmm, I tried self mutilation once too. I was s ' posed to use regular slip joint pliers but I couldn't find any so I figgered vise - grips would work as well. Let me tell you. When those things locked up, I took off down the street like a scalded dog. It didn't help to have the weight of the pliers working against the flesh as I ran. I almost passed out again just typing this.

Here are some findings that were made on this DISTURBING lifestyle. There are sick people everywhere.

"3. Is it physically dangerous? That depends on what you're doing.
In the Finnish study, bondage and flagellation were standard:
More than 80 percent of the sample had done them in the preceding 12 months.
The riskier stuff was far less common: piercing (done by 21 percent of the sample),
skin branding (17 percent), hypoxyphilia (suffocation games, also known as
breath play 17 percent), electric shocks (15 percent), and knives or razor blades (13 percent).
The California study found a similar pattern: Bondage, flogging, and spanking were standard
(more than 80 percent had done them), but other practices, fire play (20 percent),
piercing play (20), cutting (14), branding (9), and scarification (5) were rarer.
Some potentially dangerous activities were surprisingly common, electric play (42 percent),
knife scenes (40), and breath play (27), though in many cases, the implements
were probably just props. It looks as though about 20 percent of these folks are actually cutting,
burning, zapping, or partially suffocating each other.

That's a minority, but it's still worrisome. In the Finnish sample, those who said they'd
previously suffered sexual abuse, 23 percent of the women, and 8 percent of the men
were particularly problematic. According to the authors, visits to a physician because of
injuries obtained during sm-sex were significantly more common among the abused
respondents (11.1%) than among the non-abused respondents (1.8%).

BDSM community leaders preach the importance of safe words, prearranged
signals that the restrained, flogged, or dominated participant can use to withdraw
consent and stop the action. In the Finnish study, 90 percent of the sample said
they sometimes incorporated such words in their encounters. But less than half did
so without exception. That, too, is a problem."

No one has argued that this can be dangerous if not practiced safely, and no one has advocated that it is for everyone and that everyone should do it. Quite the contrary. If it's not your thing, that's fine. But that doesn't make it your place to criticize those are into it, especially without citing any facts other than "I don't like the idea." For every study you can find, and this is true of almost any subject, a study showing the opposite can be found, which is why I put very little stock in studies. To have your opinion is fine. To support your opinion is even better. But there is no way to know real numbers because there is no way to know how many people are engaged in what sexual practices. We hear about the fatality from botched erotic asphyxiation (a practice that is very dangerous and one that I would absolutely not be involved in) but how many other thousands or even millions of people didn't die from that practice? And the same can be said of just about anything. Someone died in a car accident, therefore driving is a dangerous practice and people shouldn't do it. But how many millions of people didn't die in car accidents? So you are able to cite a study. The flaw, however, is that studies don't tell the whole story. They can be useful, but often, a conclusion is drawn and a study is conducted to verify that conclusion, rather than allowing the results to show what they will. Additionally, we don't know how scientific this study is. Again, to have an opinion is fine. But to attack another opinion based solely on emotion rather than reason shows desperation. You have not done that, however you have accused me, wrongly, of merely attacking. I did not. I did counterattack when I was attacked, but I did so with reason, not baseless garbage and emotional pleas of, "you're mean because you're challenging my opinion." If that's mean, so be it. And the assertions that BDSM is rape and domestic abuse still is unfounded.

To me the kinky and/or BDSM aspect is an important one when talking relationship and partner...
I don't think I could live with a 100% vanilla partner. ohwell Kinky is cool, which to me is the grey area in between vanilla & BDSM. But not sure if that would satisfy me. I know exactly what I desire from the BDSM spectrum, but then you gotta find a partner who has the same desire.
I know some couples can make it work when 1 is vanilla and the other is not by having him/her find a BDSM partner, outside of the relationship. But I wouldn't want that. I'd want to experience it with my own partner. Not 24/7 but I do know it can spill over in day to day life when you are in it with your partner, which adds to the fun and the depth of the relationship.
What I desire from the BDSM spectrum wouldn't really work with someone you don't live with. Having an appointment on a Friday at 8pm for a session is so not the same thing as something spontaneously coming up between you and your partner whilst doing the dishes. And then acting upon it.

I also find it scary to go there with someone I don't know, as it takes a lot of trust. Finding someone for an intimate encounter ain't so difficult, nor that tricky. Finding someone for BDSM is another thing altogether. I daren't go there.
I just hope, pray to god, that my next partner-to-be will have the same desires I got.
