Topic: Fighting poverty or punishing the poor? | |

Former Arizona state senator, now Vice-Chair of the GOP in the state, and author of Arizona's SB1070 Russell Pearce says if he were in charge of Medicaid he would make sterilization mandatory for poor, unemployed women, and subject their homes to government inspections.
We've just become toooooo much like a socialist/communist country! Just look at California! Why, in Berkeley, they are given poor people medical marijuana. Can you believe that?! And, besides that, it's all the fault of immigrants illegally crossing the border. From The New Civil Rights Movement: “You put me in charge of Medicaid, the first thing I’d do is get Norplant, birth-control implants, or tubal ligations,” Russell Pearce told listeners on his talk show this week on station KKNT, The Patriot "Intelligent Talk" radio. "Then we’ll test recipients for drugs and alcohol, and if you want to [reproduce] or use drugs or alcohol, then get a job.” Pearce, who is now the the Vice Chair of the Arizona GOP, and takes an $85,000 per year government salary for a job that was reconstituted just for him, but claims to be a champion of small government. His latest government job? Convincing elderly Arizona residents to sign up for government assistance. But Pearce is fervently against government assistance, at least he says so on his conservative talk radio show. “No cash for Ding Dongs and Ho Hos, you’d only get money for 15-pound bags of rice and beans, blocks of cheese and powdered milk – all the powdered milk you can haul away,” Pearce, discussing food stamps, said this week. “If you want a steak or frozen pizza, then you’d have to get a job.” People on government assistance programs, again, were he in charge, would be told they have to maintain their property "in a clean, good state of repair, and your home will be subjected to an inspection at any time, possessions will be inventoried." "If you want a plasma TV or an X-Box 360, then get a job," Pearce added, not mentioning that Medicaid recipients are often employed, but live at, near, or below the poverty line. http://www.dailykos.com/story/2014/09/13/1329308/-Arizona-s-GOP-Vice-Chair-I-d-Sterilize-Poor-Women-On-Medicaid-Test-For-Drugs-Alcohol sterilization and rice,,? really? |

yeah, you really have to appreciate these so called 'small government folks" they're all over that when the corporations want to be rid of regulations, but if you are poor, female, minority, gay, well then they want to rule them with a Draconian, Fascist hammer, ie, small government is for a very select group.

I'm sorry but I don't really understand what exactly you are trying to say with this. What exactly does that website have to do with my snarky and satirical comment on the fact that if people want to eliminate the sexual productivity of the lowest income earners, that they should also eliminate the ability of the top from wealthiest sexual productivity and their ability to name a successor? How does this pertain to envy? |

Anyone working and receiving assistance is a contributor.
The chronically unemployed collecting/mooching need weeded out. Help lighten the load off the tax payer. Some politicians must be reading my posts and stealing my ideas. Long time ago, I suggested sterilizing those who irresponsibly pump out hood rats they can't/won't support and dug test them ta boot. Especially those who live in gated communities, sitting on a computer all day refusing to get a job. |

Ah so you are one of those who think that it's their fault that they have no work no money and no life. To everyone that has a mind of their own. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eKtQJmCMuCc I found it very enlightening. |

Obviously, Russell Pearce isn't a conservative. Instead, he is a libertarian extremist. The Arizona GOP should denounce him. |

What sense does it make for women to pump out more kids than they can provide for.
Chronically unemployed, unemployable or those who can work but, choose the welfare ho role. Another thing, Income Tax payers and property owners should be the only ones allowed to participate in voting. Also, all vets. They earned that right. I suggested monetary incentives for voluntary sterilization. If a woman irresponsibly reproduces and if, that's if, the father can be determined and won;t take or maintain the kid and her, sterilize hin ta boot. Harsh? Not as harsh as the tax paying workers have it. |

we are past the tipping point... half the country is on bennys an we the other half foot the bill and we are called racists if we dont like it. Ummm... its more like 20% are being burnt by the system and have no way out. Another 20% that are about as worse off then the previous 20% are, but they can't get handouts. So they are lost in the system. 40% that have to pay for all of this. A 19% that never change. And 1% that is profiting off of the system in such a way that nobody else can win. But you were close... not really 1% is profiting off of the pain of 80%. and only 40% foots the bill. Notice how I didn't call you prejudice or racist for that matter. Ignoring the actual issue and blaming the wrong people maybe. |
