You'll hit 80 without a doubt! I get the feeling the world could end and what would be left are the cockroaches, Keith Richards and you!

Hey Minglers. I've been here a few weeks now and thought I'd bite the bullet and jump in with a topic of my own. This is a personal issue for me, as I have quite a large hand tattoo (among others) of a lily, with vines, twining around my wrist to link with a pink ribbon underneath my thumb. When people spot the hand part they frown, yet when they see the ribbon their attitude changes. My question is, are tattoos acceptable on a woman if they are serious statements or shouldn't we all be allowed the freedom of expression no matter what the reason? This also applies to males with tattoos. Wouldn't want to appear discrimitory laugh I would appreciate your views

Tat's are a personal thing..they make statements about the people that wear them. I love tats myself (if I was younger, I'd have some  ) as long as they are not on the face. Although my eyeliner is tattooed.

I have 2.. tastefully hidden.. I had them put on after surviving cancer as well.. it's a testament to courage and fortitude.. and the one that held my hand through it all..

I've dated guys with tat's before.. my kids both have some.. I've no problems with them.. but agree with others here that facial or full body tats are a turn off..

I have tattoos, and it really surprises people when I tell them.
They cannot be seen unless I chose to show them due to where they are.

To me, tattoos are personal, they are pieces of art with meaning to the person that is inked.

Mine are a dedication to my parents and one celebrating a time of freedom for me, others are for achievements that I have gained.

A few people stated that the professional business world they are unaccepted, take it from someone in the professional world, I have them and I have never had anyone say they can't be worn, in fact, in a lot of countries it's considered discrimination and against the law to not hire someone because of them.

To those that adamently stated they would not date a woman with tattoos, that is like some women stating they wouldn't date a guy with a dick!
It's our own personal choice to have them, and as long as they are in taste (I've been told mine are really beautiful) they are not harming anyone.

I say go for it to me it does not make the person... Now I'm against the tats on the face.... just me...

Would I date a guy with tats hell yeah why not?bigsmile

I have 2 Tattoo's. 1 is an eternally burning flame (candle) with the DOB & DOD & name of my beloved younger brother, who was taken from us tragically, (left leg) the other is a sun burning brightly over the darkest clouds (right leg).
Both are inked above my ankle bones. I can cover them for work with trousers. I've had them for 4 years. Now my Mum (70) is thinking of getting herself a tattoo to honour her grand/great-grand children.

I find this subject to be very interesting. I am a woman with two tattoos. Mine are on my back and shoulder, places that can be covered up if I am at work or in a setting in which they may be inappropriate. I have been told that I am not the kind of person that people expect to have tattoos. I am somewhat quiet and very professional. I am taking classes to become a teacher. I personally find men with tattoos attractive, except tattoos on the face and neck.

I like artistic tattoos, but don't have any myself. I wouldn't mind them on a woman unless they are purposely grotesque or gang symbol type tats.

I think our bodies our beautiful just they way they are but understand that tattoos are a expression of art. side note: I've always wondered what a tattoo would look like when you 80yrs old but I guess at that point, who cares.

An 80 year old can always cover some of them with a diaper and support hose...........happy

Driving in my car I saw a woman walking along the side of the road, wearing shorts. There was something on her thigh, looked like either a horrible, huge growth or maybe she needed a bath and good scrubbing!
As I got closer I saw it was a tattoo, reaching her knee. A coloured one, with lots of green (hence the algae look from a distance, laugh )
Horrible!

When I was 17 my mates were getting tatts of birds, roses, or butterflies! Me I had to be different & I got a cannabis leave on my hip! No of course I wasn't thinking! I was young & yes stupid! This is going back many years when you went round some blokes house who probably never heard of hygiene. Still I survived & at least it wasn't on my face. :-D

I think that they are fine. I really like poetic tattos, or any of the Salvador Dali ones out there. Reason or no reason, I don't really see how it matters in the big scheme of things. It's some ink on a person that lives on earth which is on the solar system and... So as long as it does no harm or targets people.

My niece has tattoos like that, really big ones in conspicuous places...not something I'd do, but to each his own...

I have one on my ankle. I can hide it if I have to, but no one seems to mind. Where I used to work most people had tattoos, so it was never a big deal.

I often find that ladies who stand out from the crowd attract me, but alas tatoos do nothing for me. Human skin is an extremely poor 'canvas' for art work and most tatoos appear to me personally as acts of self mutilation rather than works of art. But if a person likes such then by all means go for it. The only thing I despise in such respect are people who get tatoos and then seek free medical help to have them removed.

Rather than a tatood woman I'd in principle prefer a skinny bald woman with good facial bone structure. But alas most of the lady members on the alopecia forums understandably have hang ups. And most women shave the wrong places or fail to complete the job properly. But then few men knit well.
