Too old to enjoy cruising anymore, but ahhh back
in the day..

Let's see.

Mexican Riviera, roundtrip from San Franciso,
twice.
The Seine in France...Alaska.

But my absolute faves were what they call the
'turnaround cruises'. For about $500 each they
flew you to Vancouver and for 10 days they came
down the West Coast, stopping along the way in
Seattle and Catalina Island among other places.

Very quiet but full of entertainment with
windows on the ocean.

Repositioning cruises they call them ;-)

Where you headed?

where am I headed? at the moment.. nowhere.. too expensive to go solo.. and I need to renew my passport before I go ANYwhere.. but places I'd LIKE to go are UK, Europe, Asia..

Traveling to the USA right now isn't really an option, sadly.. and many cruises leave from a US port of call.. bummer

I've never been on a repositioning one.. was considering trans-atlantic but a lil concerned about being on the sea that long without shore leave..

I love cruising for many reasons.. mainly you get to visit several places on one trip and build a list of places you've like to go to for longer..

I've been on a few myself.. both Eastern (St. Thomas, San Juan, Dom. Republic) & Western (Jamaica, Caymen Islands, Cozumel) Caribbean and I've done a Mediterranean one as well (Barcelona/Spain, Rome/Italy, Athens/Greece, Izmir/Turkey, Alexandria & Cairo/Egypt, Valletta/Malta)

I have a preference to the Norwegian line.. been on 2 and never disappointed.. food is amazing (and healthy) and it's casual travel/dining..

have you ever been on one or would like to?

if you've cruised.. where'd you go?
where would you LIKE to go?

do you have a fave cruise ship line?

thanks for the unsolicited education.. however.. I used to work for an insurance company and I'm fully aware of the ins and outs.. and why I aired my personal opinion!

perhaps you should have asked why I feel that way instead of just deciding I needed a teaching moment!

from what I see, you do not live in Quebec, or Canada for that matter.. perhaps things are different here than where you live..

point of note.. if instead of paying the large monthly premiums to an insurance company, you put that money into an interest yielding account (instead of them making interest off your money), by the time you DO have an emergency.. you'd have more than enough to cover the costs.. some people go decades without making any claims.. yet once they do? their rates increase exponentially.. not to forget the rates increase yearly on the pretext of "cost of living"..

Just call your Insurance they will send roofers out they work with.. And you will not have to mess with them much.

Humm well I don't have insurance on my house.. So all out of pocket.. Just had my AC Unit inside and outside replaced about 6 months due to it died but then the outside unit was 32 years old inside was over 15 laugh Ohh and I splurged and bought me a new car last Jan...

So I will be working a while longer... But I have a super easy job and only work 4 days a week.. So can't complain about that.. biggrin

Ohh now ya got my attention cruises are fun... ya don't have to cook/clean drinker

doesn't quite work that way up here in Quebec.. we call the insurance co.. they send an investigator.. once approved we get an allowed amount for the repair then we gotta do all the work in finding contractors.. they simply have to be reputable and registered ohwell

although I truly believe any insurance is a scam (money grab) with my luck, once I'd let my lapse, the house would probably crumble to the ground laugh

if memory serves.. you work with your brother.. no??

I'd love to do more cruising.. just way too expensive solo and most ports are in the USA.. which for me traveling there is kind of no freakin way at the moment.. the ICE (frozen snow) I have here is enough of a headache.. frustrated which reminds me.. had more come down last night so.. best get shoveling.. yet again.. whoa

Would you be very happy if your partner was thinking of a holiday without you. It could be her going with the girls, or him going with the boys, for a week away somewhere or maybe cruise. I am not sure I would be happy with that, yet many people do, maybe I have trust issues or it's just I want to go as well. laugh

Not sure I would be okay with that.. maybe it's a trust issue for some.. but for me it's more "hey, I want take part in the fun too"

when in a relationship.. I believe things should be shared, together.. an occasional "boys night out" is fine by me.. however I personally don't need that kind of "space"... besides.. I've been doing the solo thang long enough and although okay with that, when IN a relationship, I'd rather spend the time together.. life's too short (and getting shorter by the day at our ages laugh )

I personally prefer with someone.. it's cheaper laugh

seriously tho.. experiencing and exploring new places, flavors etc is, to me, simply more fun when shared.. nothing more pleasurable than turning to a friend, partner, loved one and saying "wow, isn't that cool?" or "what do you think of THAT?" while creating memories that'll last a lifetime and can be re-shared whenever the feeling moves you

Ohh the house repairs never seem to stop for sure... I'm in the process now getting bids for a full roof replacement..

I have not retired yet.. I'm already drawing full SS but still need to work for a bit.. Due to repairs and paying things off.. slaphead

I think my roof is covered under my insurance.. I have to start looking for quotes too as mine has started leaking.. not heavily.. but enough to notice.. all round the chimney.. *sighs*..

I did that too.. worked for 3 mths in 2024 and got all the $$ I needed to replace my cooktop, built-in oven, TV and all my deck supplies.. my project is putting the roof on the deck this summer.. this shud be interesting if I don't kill myself in the process laugh

but you're right.. never ending list of 'things to do'.. mind you.. been thinking of selling and moving to a cruise ship.. no more shoveling, reno's, repairs, cooking or bills! drinker

WOW Zero, thats Doggone Heaven > You are a Regular Mrs Doctor Dolittle.

The Most Exotic Pet I Ever had was a Black Mamba.

Zee for short works  I'm a lot more than nothing laugh

a black mamba??? scared I'm not much into snakes personally.. my eldest has one but, it's not of the venomous type.. that I'm aware of.. I knew a guy that had piranha's.. still have the scar on my index fingertip silly me.. and spiders.. *shivers* yeah.. I don't like spiders.. eesh..

but yes.. I am a regular Ms. Dolittle laugh I've got deer, opossum's, racoons, foxes, skunks (which I steer clear of, thank you very much), ferrets, wild cats and a plethora of birds.. including eagles, falcons etc.. bigsmile
