. . . let me ask you this: where is most of the crime happening? mostly, in black and Mexican poor neighborhoods . . .
What evidence do you have to support the above-quoted claim? of course, but you can do your own investigating, and come up with your conclusions on this. if you don't want to believe it, you don't have to. but i take it you have never been to south central LA, or watts, any black/ mexican part of town? where is most of the crack and coke being sold, and by whom? who is the majority in the gangs? is it white people? so you are really thinking there is some big conspiracy to make sure black and mexican go to prison, and not whites? there doesnt need to be a 'conspiracy', just a trend that people feel comfortable following slavery didnt continue so long because so many were ACTIVELY seeking to own slaves but because of those who didnt mind being able to or didnt see a problem with it,,,, they should quit crying and stop committing crimes and see what happens then... do you know what the #1 cause of a black mans death is? another black man.... |

You did not specify any particular type of crime, and thus far, you are speculating. Can you cite any study that supports your claim? if your really interested, i suggest google, or maybe a yahoo search... No. It is the responsibility of the accuser to provide evidence supporting the accusation. I repeatedly requested that msharmony cite specific evidence supporting her claim, and she did so. Now, it is your turn to cite evidence supporting your own claim. By the way, I grew up on the proverbial "wrong side of the tracks", which was the "black" part of town. The high school that I graduated from originated as my home town's only all-black public high school. So, I don't need a lecture about minority communities. |

I Mean, should those suffering muslim women just not break their laws if they dont want unfair treatment too? ,,,,the issue is the unjust consequence, not whether a consequence should occur,,, |

Yes it is called Affirmative Action. It allows non qualified minorities and women into job opportunities and higher education opportunities
Stop the presses! Affirmative action doesn't provide opportunities to "non-qualified" people. You have mischaracterized affirmative action. |

It allows non qualified minorities and women into job opportunities and higher education opportunities Sometimes that has been true. Not the intention or spirit of the law, though. it has been true that SOME EMPLOYERS Allow it,, however the AFFIRMATIVE ACTION Laws dont,,, That was my point. However, I believe many employers started acting on it erroneously because of discrimination claims and the cost/hassle of dealing with them when not justified. This from a woman who HAS been passed over...and probably selected based on both gender and race over her lifetime. I actually think the plethora of other labor laws cover the issues now and that Affirmative Action is a law that's served its purpose and should die a natural death. It's got repetition elsewhere under FLSA - which is actually easier to apply in some respects. |

Stop the presses! Affirmative action doesn't provide opportunities to "non-qualified" people. You have mischaracterized affirmative action. Fixed it No, you didn't. Affirmative action requires that people be equally qualified. What is being called "reverse discrimination" isn't affirmative action. |

It isn't my job to back up a claim that you made. The standard that I am applying to your claim is the same one that I applied to msharmony's claim. |

It's got repetition elsewhere under FLSA - which is actually easier to apply in some respects. FLSA pertains to the appropriate WAGES it doesnt pertain to the employment OPPORTUNITIES which need to be there for people to ever get to a point of earning a wage,,, which other labor laws do you think cover Affirmative Action? hint: affirmative action isnt a LAW, its a name applied to a set of laws applying to equal opportunity,,,, |

Alexandria Walton Radford, in their book 'No Longer Separate, Not Yet Equal', examined data on students applying to college in 1997 and calculated that Asian-Americans needed nearly perfect SAT scores of 1550 to have the same chance of being accepted at a top private university as whites who scored 1410 and African-Americans who got 1100. Whites were three times, Hispanics six times, and blacks more than 15 times as likely to be accepted at a US university as Asian-Americans.

It gives less funding to schools on bad standardized test performance. It punishes school who does not have good teaches modern textbooks computers etc. Those are the Schools that should get the majority of the funding. |

There seems to be confusion about what affirmative action is. So, I'll explain it.
Scenario #1: Mr. X and Mr. Y both apply for Z, but only one of the men can have Z. The two men are equally qualified for Z. Mr. X is a non-Hispanic Caucasian. Mr. Y is a member of a minority group. Mr. Y is chosen to receive Z in order for Mr. Y's minority group to be better represented in the Z community. This is an application of affirmative action because an equally-qualified person received Z. Scenario #2: Mr. X and Mr. Y both apply for Z, but only one of the men can have Z. Mr. X is better qualified for Z than Mr. Y is. Mr. X is a non-Hispanic Caucasian. Mr. Y is a member of a minority group. Mr. Y is chosen to receive Z in order for Mr. Y's minority group to be better represented in the Z community. This isn't an application of affirmative action because a lesser-qualified person received Z. |
