Topic: Do You Have The Right To Believe

Beliefs like that are the result of trying to take some things written in scripture LITERALLY when they are not meant that way.

And yet when Jesus talks about eating his flesh and drinking his blood, Christians REFUSE to take that literally.

Not everything in the bible is metaphorical/parable. Just Jesus spoke in parables to help give better understanding by relating it to something they already knew/understood.

I'm not sure you can know why Jesus was said to have spoken in parables. You can only guess.

It could be that the things he spoke about were blasphemous and rebellious in the eyes of the current church fathers and he had to speak in parables.

How would speaking in parables disguise it from that? It wouldn't. Jesus gave us the laws the way he did, to have more of a relation with us and not make us feel we were slaves or anything like that. He said it in a way we would have to truly think about what he said before we could know what he said.

Yes Jeannie......flowerforyou 3 SEPARATE PERSONS in ONE GOD!!!

GOD ALMIGHTY IS NOT 3 SEPARATE BEINGS ...BUT GOD

ALMIGHTY IS 3 SEPARATE PERSONS WITHIN ONE SUPREME BEING.

( but of course, we don't mean God is 3 persons like human

persons....persons is just a term used to expain the 3

distinctions in One God...Who Is One Supreme Being....and those

3 distinctions in ONE GOD, we refer to as Persons )

But again, those 3 separate persons WITHIN ONE GOD ,

make up ONLY ONE SUPREME BEING,

or

ONLY ONE ENTITY,

or

ONLY ONE GOD.

ONLY ONE GOD ALMIGHTY.

AMEN.

You don't get what I am saying.

He spoke in parables to avoid saying something that would get him in trouble with the law and the church, which were basically the same back then. People were often put to death for their ideas if they went against the church.

If he was not trying to avoid saying something that could get him in trouble, he could have been more direct and clear.

"Amen" to a Christian means, "So be it".
"Amen" in Hebrew means, "To be firm".

..just saying..

I don't know but I think there could have been a lot more that three separate persons within one supreme being.

I think there are an infinite number of separate persons within the supreme being.

Perhaps all of us.

That is pantheism. flowerforyou

Speaking in parables doesn't change the meaning of what you're saying. It's not "code language".

And that is exactly what Jesus wanted. Jesus wanted the church and everyone to hear his words. He was direct and clear.

By literal translation or by usage?

I mean, technically, it is also a variation of the Egyptian God who was represented as being a man with the head of a ram. o.O

..obviously he was direct and clear..

It's what caught the eye of many.
Who'd later mark him as a "Heathen" and a "Blasphemer".
Spreading lies, they took such to Pontius.
Pontius, overwhelmed by the mass crowd screaming for Jesus' death.
Ordered his men to bring Christ to him.
Blah blah.. crucified.

To answer my own question...

John 14:11-12
New International Version (NIV)

11 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves. 12 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.

Well, in this case, it was asked of Jesus.

Hmm.

Maybe perhaps I misunderstood the question..
..or perhaps the question was rhetorical..
..and I answered anyways.

I was just implying..
..that if you don't believe in "Jesus"..
..then ask them that question.

Stupid humor, but meh, I chuckled. :P

The answer and who gave it is what's important.

For if Jesus was God, would it be possible for a man to do greater things than he?
