If we hit anyone (besides our kids) we can go to jail.
If we shoot anyone's property (besides our kids) we can go to jail.

What's wrong with this picture???

Thankfully I am Canadian and you can go to jail
for hitting you're kids.

I don't think destroying you kids stuff
get's you jail time but child and family
would get involved as it could still be
seen as emotional abuse.

People can and have gone to jail for abusing their children....
when they end up dead or in an emergency room. Other than that,
it's done behind closed doors. In general, kids don't talk about it.

There are no laws as far as destroying, taking kids things.
There are laws about brandishing a weapon and if you shoot
your neighbors laptop you will go to jail.

You got that right flap jack!

I presume that means something nice in American Jargon

Another term for pancake or griddle cake

And in the context you used it?

It means cool dude or OK buddy

I've never heard the "flap jack" remark before. I thought it might mean a person who flip flops on their opinions. laugh A flap jack is what cowboys on the range call a pancake cooked in the frying pan.

"A waffle is a batter- or dough-based cake cooked in a waffle iron patterned to give a distinctive and characteristic shape. There are many variations based on the type and shape of the iron and the recipe used."

What do they call waffles over there?

right

best friends, imho, are walking BESIDE each other, experiencing similar things and learning similar lessons TOGETHER

So here I am walking with my children who also happen to my best friends.......????

I think I will get out here before you do my head in..drinker waving flowerforyou

laugh laugh

some people think they are superior to their children...poor kids!

superior = better,,, no

if superior = accepting more responsibility and therefore more privilege,,,, YES

if superior = having superior LIFE ESPERIENCE (more years, more situations ,,etc,,')

YES

or else we could have been amoebas and just spit out fully grown and responsible adults who absorb our knowledge and expeirence through osmosis and who are truly our EQUAL,,,,,

but that AINT happenin,,,,lol

What you absorb only you see as knowledge, and experience does not = intelligence. You teach you're children you're views and beliefs , force them on them, as if you are right when you honestly have no clue whats right or wrong because no one does.

Since no one knows no one should force anything on a child,
they will make their choices when they are older.

We are simply here to offer love and guidance like op says above.

In a lot of ways our children are better then us, as they have no alternative motive, nothing they do can be bad, as they do not know
any better they are blank, pure innocence.

As adults we lose all that and get polluted by the world,
we have no right forcing any of our beliefs on our children.

this is why they grow up messed up, mommy and daddy beat them
till they believed certain things, so they are scared to think otherwise and have their own thoughts when they get older.

Might as well just buy a robot and program it, them it will be exactly what you want and you can make it do whatever you please.

A child is not you're slave it is you're responsibility,
you are you're child's slave till its 18. and you should be
thankful for them ever minute of you're life.

if it works for you do it

I , on the other hand would NEVER pay someones bills, provide their meals and shelter, give them safety, be responsible for their mistakes out in the world, pay for their heating and cooling, their internet, their cable, their cell phone bill

all because they didnt ask to be born

truth be told, none of us did,, but thats a distraction to avoid sharing any responsibility and to reinforce the idea that merely being born to someone makes you ENTITLED to whatever you want from them or need without ANY contribution or respect or expectations in return

and a consequence free life,,,

thats not reality, and I try to teach my kids ,, GUIDE them to an adulthood where you dont get things just cause you didnt ask to be born but because you make an EFFORT to earn them,,,,

I dont get respect MERELY Because I gave birth, I Get respect because I love and nurture them, I teach them, I Take time to discipline them, I give them a BALANCE of what they need even when its not what they WANT,,,,,

but as I said,, all children are different

do what works for the family you have would be my advice to every parent

its what my parents did and what I do and it has worked for us,,,,,

I have one question for msharmony,
when you make mistake and mess
up, is it ok for you're husband
to hit you to help teach you a
lesson?

We are all always growing and learning,
and youre husband cares about you and wants
to help guide you and install the right beliefs.

So if you think this is ok to do to you're child,
is it ok to do to you too?

no, its also not ok for him to make me stand in a corner, sit in time out, or stay in my room either

police will also not beat the crap out of , taser, or handcuff most children because of this difference,,

I wonder how many adults would PREFER to just get spanked and then continue to live their life paid for by someone else when they mess up?

children and adults are DIFFERENT , but both face the consequences of their choices

but thats kind of irrelevant, as we have a different relationship than we have with our CHILDREN

because I CONTRIBUTE to the home, either by also paying bills, or sharing the DOMESTIC responsibilities,,,

JUST as is expected of children who are NOT paying bills

In America I guess would be the key part here,
these type's of things are acceptable there.
Kind of like honor killings are acceptable in
the east but not here in the west.

I think Canada should go to war with the US
and force our none spanking beliefs on you.

You have oil too right? lol wait never mind
you probably got it from us anyways.
