Let's see if the Republicans can pull through and fix the country like they've been saying they would now that they have control of the house. I'm looking forward to seeing what they can do.

Nah they needed the house and the senate to do a lot of stuff. Dens still have 2 of the 3.

i don't get why you guys defend the upper class so much.
please explain.

Because poor people never gave anyone a job?

How about Fair Tax, which would apply the same tax rate to everyone?

Society is an agreement for everyone to be under the rule of law. How fair would it be to tax some people more than others? Why wealthy people remain in a society that punitively taxes the wealthy? Look at all of the rich people who have been leaving New York state. They can give themselves an automatic raise, just by moving. Low taxes are good for business, business is good for the economy and a rising tide lifts all boats.

Well, we knew for a while they'd gain control of the house and not the senate, yet we've been hearing about all the changes they'll make. So, I'm interested in see what they're going to do to fix the country like they've said they would.

Nothing put fuc* everything up like they did when they had control before, line there friends and themselves pockets with contracts free medical and housing allowance, car with the Insurance being paid by the public and people chasing them around on there four months out of the year vacations just to see how much fun there having with us the underpaid no benefit taxpayer footing the bill, Then hear them boost that they voted to freeze tax's which then force the local Mayor's of towns and and cities to rise cost on everything that congress don't have to put there signature on. Now where stuck like craps in a barrel pulling each other back, afraid of going to our under-paid jobs because those who are not fortunate to have one of these underpaid jobs are sitting outside our front door's with thier hands out because now we the underpaid working people look to them like we are the wealthy fortunate ones which we are not. so the beat go's on and on

Well, they would have had a better chance if it weren't for some of the tea party crazies like Angle and O'Donnell.

I feel much better now about things. It is a glorious morning knowing Husseins and the democrats have been stopped, even though the dems still have the Senate they also still have the blue dog dems and a whole bunch of republicans to deal with.

I wasn't talking about the tea party as a whole. Just the really extreme ones like those I named :).

So, when will we start seeing all the changes the Republicans have been talking about? When can we expect them to fix the country like they've been saying they will?

so you're saying obama is the reason the nation has such a horrible economy.

he isn't the reason it failed,

he dug the hole we are in a lot deeper than it needed to get!

he also done some ethically questionable sh*tt like force Health insurance down our throats!

he bailed out the banks with taxpayer money when they should have used their own!

Maybe, JUST MAYBE we can get some Congressmen and Senators who will boot the banks and big industry out of the hen house!

Puh leaze. The health care wasn't forced down our throats. When Obama was running for president, he made it loud and clear that he would do that. We know it in advance and he won the election.

Bailed out the banks. Bush started that stimulus money and the deal was that Obama was to finish it.

Yes but after numbers started being thrown around and people had time to think it became clear this wasn't a good idea...then he shoved down our throats, remember all those racists at all the town hall meetings telling him to soak his head on health care and he didn't listen? This is his just desert!

numbers started being thrown around and people had time to think ....Wrong.

The situation was aggravated after the Republicans lied about it - death panels, etc. and then they chopped up the plan.

What?

How could they chop up anything... Every change they tried to make was defeated. Then they started listening to all the phone calls from 'home' saying NO...

and they started saying NO.

The health care plan was better before they made the changes. Then the lies about it started.

That really isn't the case. The primary reason the Democrats got their butts kicked was the spending. All spending bills must originate in the House which is now controlled by the Republicans. It will be difficult for the two houses to agree on many things but it will be impossible for the Democrats and Obama to continue the spending spree.

it isnt the case? I certainly remember different this last two years of the party of 'no'

the bottom line folks, is repubs and DEMS have to AGREE for bills to pass, and that involves something thats been difficult in the bi partisan bs,,,,WORKING TOGETHER

Apparently you don't understand that the Democrats held a majority in the house and a super-majority in the senate the past two years. Bills like the health care fiasco were passed totally without the consent of the Republicans.

The house now has the power to break bills into smaller pieces so the government can function with needed bills while separating unneeded spending into a a separate bill with a separate vote.

and it passes congress before it goes to the President

as I said, whatever republicans do or dont do, they will still need to be WORKING WITH the democrats to accomplish it

No. That isn't how the system works. All the republicans have to do to stop the unwarranted spending is to NOT originate the spending bill. The origination of spending bills is totally in the power of the House; not the Senate, and not the president.

In order to get approval of a spending bill that EVERYBODY wants, it has to go through all three branches.

This is nothing like the system of the past two years.

The dems still control the senate also......
instead of being negative constantly like so many who post in politics..I'm WILLING TO wait and see how the next two years go before I start to pass judgement
