I still think that it is not knowledge in a general sense that is the issue,,but the EGO, which tells us we are better or worse, wiser or dumber, than others (or even equal to God) which is our undoing,,,,,

since there were no other people other than Adam and Eve in the garden...how would being better or worse or wiser or dumber than others be a factor

So you want to know what hypothetical mechanism might exist for the hypothetical possibility of a 'identity' transfer?

so do this mean that you only have a hypothetical belief that your body is not hypothetically you and that it's a hypothetical remote possiblity that you may be hypothetically reincarnated ...of course I'm only speaking hypothetically

No, not at all. As before - don't confuse the use of hypothetical to expose a false dilemma with other statements, which are not hypothetical.

I am not my body, and this is obvious because the difference between a live body and a dead body lies in the kinds of processes that body engages in - not the materials it comprises.

a dead body is a body no longer alive ....since you claim that you are not your body then can you explained (of course hypothetically) ....what supposedly happens to whatever is in that body (you)after the body dies

and why would Eve believe that?

We agree on something.

....since you claim that you are not your body then can you explained (of course hypothetically) ....what supposedly happens to whatever is in that body (you)after the body dies

"Whatever is in that body (you)" ? I may simply be an emergent property of a collection of my bodies activities. There is not necessarily any 'thing' that needs to go anywhere.

What happens to the movement of a bicycle, when it stops moving? It ceases to be, but it - the movement - doesn't go anywhere.

So what do I believe happens to the collection of processes which give rise to the 'I', upon death? It seems most likely, from the evidence available to me, that those processes simply cease, and the self ceases to be. And the body remains. Further evidence that the 'I' is not the body.

it's uncanny how you that is not your body cease the same time your body ceased....didn't you that is not your body have any say so in the matter

The body ceases to be at death? Have you ever seen this happen - a body that ceases to be, when the person dies? Do you think it is taken to the spirit world? I didn't know that you believed in such things, Funches. You seemed a lot more down to earth than that.

Oh, wait... you meant to say that certain metabolic activities of the body cease! The body itself is still there. Ergo, I am not my body.

sorry but perhaps you should pay more attention to the posts...I said your body "cease" at death...you are the one that said your body "cease to be" at death....so now I ask you the same question....did you think it is taken to the spirit world?....if not...then...Ergo, you are still in your body

or is that what you meant by your statement below

Oh, no no no, Funches, I did read you correctly the first time, I knew exactly what you said, and what you meant - thats why my post was divided into two parts, with "oh wait" dividing those parts. The first part of my post was not intended to be taken seriously, but was intended as another mockery of your conversational (strawman based) style.

I said your body "cease" at death...you are the one that said your body "cease to be" at death....

Only as a sarcastic misrepresentation of your words - not as something that I believe, obviously.

so now I ask you the same question....did you think it is taken to the spirit world?....if not...then...Ergo, you are still in your body

I do not think my body is taken to the spirit world. The fact that other's bodies continues to exist, while 'they' appear to cease to exist, is why I conclude that they are not their bodies.

I thought we already addressed your tendency to project meanings based on your own limited range of imagined possibilities? No, there is no equivalence between this possibility, and going to the heaven of the Bible.

Funches - the fact that you have jumped to the conclusion that the post above requires that I believe in the spirit world is a demonstration of your own fondness for the fallacy of false dilemma.

The belief that the sense of 'I' is a function of materialistic processes is not a spiritual belief. It makes as much sense to say that the belief in viruses is a belief in the spirit world.

Apparent your world is so small, you can only see two possibilities: (a) "I am my body" and (b) "I believe in the spirit world".

well since you claim that you are not your body....next time when that "transfer system" reincarnate you...ask them for a body you can crawl out of

it doesn't have to exist at your time of death.. it only has to exist when it's time to transfer you into the next body that isn't you

I do not believe that such a device will exist at any time, anywhere in the world, between now and the time of my death. I believe that at the time of my death, the most likely thing that will happen to 'me' is that I will cease to be, permanently. I see no way for any future device capable of such a transfer being used on 'me'.

Is Knowledge a Gift from Satan?

No,the humans already had knowledge.....They "knew" eating from the tree had consequences. Satan is not a giver of gifts; he robs steals and destroys. The only "gift" Satan gave was a temptation to know good from evil; much in the same way a person might seduce a married person to cheat on their spouse. While they are going through a divorce and clearing up their STDs, they to will be 'blessed' with the "gift" of knowledge of good and evil.

there is nothing in the bible that indicate that Adam and Eve had any more knowledge than what the other animals in the garden of eden had, so could it be said that if another animal had eaten from the fruit that the the other animal also "knew" the consequences, God didn't teach he would only speak... the gift Satan gave to Mankind was the desire to learn beyond what God was willing to teach
