Secession is unconstitutional, except as pursued through revolution (which would be foolish) or a consent of the States (which would be, to put it mildly, unlikely).

I'm only going to say, that last time we had a seccession from the union, as in a whole state, a certain Lincoln suspended Habeaus Corpus, declared Martial law and the motion towards civil war was inevitable.

Personally I might enjoy watching it happen.

A peaceful split?

Texas as a nation? Good luck...swagger all you'd like but without the federal government and the resources afford by it you all will find yourself in a jam. Might be fun to watch though.

An armed rebellion?

If the feds were forced to respond with force...well might be a great chance to clean house eh?

Perry's talk is political grandstanding at it's finest. Talk secession while asking the feds for help with border enforcement, disaster relief funding along with material support...what a joke.

you realizing the funding for border patrol helps all of the states right??? and the disaster relief fund....first...we put into the system as well...that takes care of that part. and the victims of Katrina and such come here (as well as other nearby states) so that money goes to help them as well

If we didn't engage in separatism so much we wouldn't need to go around having to say I am proud to be this or that. Non of us are superior, though we like to think we are in some way. We separate by our race -out state -our country -our religion -our sexuality, you name it and someone is better than someone else, forcing people to feel the need to carry signs saying I am proud to be a Frenchman, a Texan, a European a gay person an environmentalist etc etc etc.

We are all brainwashed by the very ancient institutions that pretend to want to bring people together, yet we cling to them because we cling to illusion and prejudices of all kinds and it won't change for a long time to come.

We can learn from the past but we serve no good by living in the past as we do.

I have learned more about other peoples beliefs, cultures and heretage because people don't generale themselves. I am very proud of who I am but not arrogant to think i'm without faults. there was a whole discussion in here about native americans....they should be proud of their heretage just as everyone else should be too. if we were all in one catagory and not individuals...then i wouldn't be able to learn from people themselves. there is nothing wrong with being an individual and saying you are part this or that because that is what helps make you who you are. i won't back down and think there is something wrong with it

never ask a person if they are from Texas

if they are they will tell you

if they aren't you'll only embarass them

i met this guy once (now a good friend) who had an accent that I couldn't place. I asked him where he was from and he puffed out his chest and said he was a NY italian. he was very proud of that fact and why shouldn't he be?

What causes separatism? The belief that one or a group is right and all others are wrong. What is the enemy of separatism? The acceptance that all humans are different and it is okay.

rose was right there is a difference between pride and arrogance. Pride in healthy doses means you believe you are just as good as all others, nothing wrong with that. Arrogance is believing you are better than others because of something, there is something wrong with that.

Those fighting for secession, which is different than sovereignty, are stating they are too good for the rest of us and if we do not get on board, we are doomed by their wrath.

I'm still up in the air about it. but if it wakes the government up....shake them up some. I don't see it as too good for the rest of the states (even though I appreciate your opinion dragoness) I see it as a form of protest on the government not on the people

In one definition of reaffirming Sovereignty, it is an act done prior to the act of Secession. Prelude to.

If there was dire need to seriously consider secession. The other 20 some-odd States, that Reaffirmed their Sovereignty along with Texas, could have Reps meet to have a coordinated, United effort to do secession together.

We really do need relief from the ObamaNation
