Topic: Gay Marriage should be legal!

You know, how do we know what the sex life of Jesus was anymore than we can tell today? Jesus could have been bi or gay or could have married. None of us know for a fact. But it sure would explain some things.

And if one can accept a person for who they are in reality could we not accept that as well?
Thats hogwash, God speaks against homosexuality so he is not going to create someone that way, especially Jesus. People become that way, but I don not believe anyone is born like that

How do they "become" that way?
various life experiences and such, I don't think anyone is born that way myself

and because you think it it makes it so

does not make since to me

law should not be based on what one thinks

it needs based on what is known

and it is known that if two people have sex in privacy

it does no ill to anyone other than possibly themselves

regardless of if it is with males females or any combination there of

adj4u's photo
Fri 12/12/08 10:14 AM

why is it people think they can know what or why others feel the way they do

what kind of ignorance is that

one can not know the pain another feels

and another can not feel the sexual urges another feels

not the reason they feel them

who is anyone to say you are lying you cant feel that because of that

how do you know

prove how you know

get over the falsity that you know

--------------------

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof

to pas a law based only on religion is establishing that religion

so until you can give a non religion based argument then the ban on gay marriage is unconstitutional

and before you start going into the health effects or the reproduction issue remember the other consequences of those arguments

anything else that has health issues would come into play

and also reproduction issue anyone that can not reproduce also would not be permitted to marry

i said this way back at the beginning of this thread

and still 30+ pages more no one has yet answered the call to give a legit argument

till someone does ban is illegal er the constitution

Does it not depend on how this belief is expressed?

I sure am not an angel, but what I have been reading here rises the hair in my neck. And a lot of that came from the person you defend. She is not the only one, but she sticks out like a sore thumb because the God she talks about is about hatred, the God of the bible is about love. And that is the difference.

I kind of agree...although...when you feel like you're be piled on...your tone has a tendency to change...I'm sure towards the end...her " anger "...was directed at the messengers...and...NOT the message...

Linddy decided to leave. She wasn't banned or silenced.

You know I don't recall anyone telling her to not post or to leave.

She seemed to feel people wanted to silence her. Speaking for myself I did not. She silenced herself by leaving.

Many of us did ask that she do us the courtesy of actually reading our posts before replying, to at least consider others opinions, to treat others with respect even if they didn't fall into her narrow definition of what a Christian is, and to address the issues with facts and reasoned arguments not just repeat the same "because the Bible tells us so" stuff.

To be honest, if I had been posting on this thread, I kinda would have been p****ed off to be thrown into one pot with everyone else that thinks like me. In her language I would have been a Lib and an Atheist, and I'm neither, but she would have called me that anyway, and only because in the matter at hand I have a different opinion. She would have accused me of attacking Christianity because I don't agree with her interpretation of the bible, and that's why I wasn't posting here. It has happened too often and has been done by too many already. I have left the site for a while because of this. For her it will be good to step back for a while, and perhaps reread what she has said, get rid of the unnecessary anger, and come back refreshed and a bit more calm than she has been.

Wow Gio, I am more shocked by that 'I kind of agree' than I was about anything lyndyy might have dished out... Wow

But do you seriously think we can't relate to being piled on, Gio. I for one can, and I have tried to approach Lyndyy with as much respect as I can muster for someone who refuses to answer the simplest of questions asked in an inquisitive and curious way, and assumes we are trying to trap her or something. And when she does answer, it's not an answer it's just more scripture, if not that then just things like. Ya sure. or these people or how much more clear can I be... sarcasm just makes others want to be sarcastic rigth back, but one can't dish it out them complain that she is being dissed and disrespected.

Aside from this issue and Christianity, I bet she would give you the shirt off her back, but here in this issue she digs in and in the end nothing is accomplished in any positive way.

Gio there might be hope for you yet. Grin...

[Answer: various life experiences and such, I don't think anyone is born that way myself

I sorely wish that those adding blanket statements would add more to the topic than unproven and often simply personal opionions or direct insults.

If this issue is so abosolute for you and so unworthy of deeper thought, I would prefer one avoid the topic than add nothing constructive. But of course I am not demanding it, just wishing.

And I don't personally ( me personally ) don't think or assume I was born gay. I chose it, even if it could be proved that I was also born gay. My chosing is is part of my argument. I am a citizen of a free country, or so I though. I pay the same taxes you do. I follow the same laws you do. I would say, how dare you make decisions for me.

You want to pay my bills? Take care of my family? Live my life for me? Then you might have some legitimate say in my life. But until your religious views are the law of this land, it hardly matters whether I was born gay or made the concious decision to be so.

And for those of you that say marriage is between a man and a woman and are happy with that. Fine, marry and be happy, happiness is the key here, not body parts, but don't assume we are all made from one standard pattern, we are not, nor is anything on this earth.

We all talk a different language when we talk in defense. We are all created equal and we all should be treated as such, we are only here for a short time and we all have the right for the pursuit of happeness!!

I love how quickstepper says all the adults have left the room....

Have you even read any of my responses?

I guess I must be a child since I don't agree with her view of things.

I have always posted with respect and thought, as have most of us. I tried very hard to make sure my posts did not offend someone in any way.

As for the being born that way I am not going to repost all of my previous posts mad But how but hoe often have you known a 7 year old boy to want my little ponies and cabbage patch kids and care bears for christmas and birthdays? As far as i know I was the only boy in my class that had a full collection of those.

Warning back, what the heck are you talking about, I will share my belief where I choose, I don't believe anyone is born that way, there not born anyway, people develop into what they become, based on their life, their experiences, upbringing, and a whole host of daily , monthly and yearly influences in their life. So Good luck to you as well, don't need any advice from you thats for sure, and warn someone who really gives a flying Fvckdrinker

That's because so many of you are so full of hate for any disagreement that no one is bothering to answer you all.

The mods are doing such a great job around here. All at the expense of free speech.

Nonetheless, it seems that the 'adults" left the room. I'm sure there are better boards for having real discussion without all the baby talk that gets in the way here.

if she posted that

then she must be childish

after all it was her saying all adults left the discussion

and she was still here

something to think about

-------------

and speaking of a real discussion

no one has given an answer to the constitional point i made

so maybe till some one can give a ligit argument to that

maybe they should quit casting stones

and stop judging others behavior

just a thought

Warning, again, I don't give a chit, i'm not bashing anyone, If you want to think a murderer is born that way, a gay is born that way, have at it, it's still bull****, we become what we are based on our upbringing and life that we live, surroundings a lot of stuff, but born that way, no way, not sharing my thought to be "on board" with anyone, not gonna change my view just cause of some cheesy warning from someone, grow up. Saying someone is not born a certain way is not knocking them anyway, where the heck do you and the other person even get off thinking it is, you wanna argue, fine, i'm up and refreshed , coffee in handdrinker
