...
Girls were banned from schools under hardline Taliban rule, and women could leave their homes only if they were clad in a body-hiding burqa and accompanied by a male relative.

Afghanistan has made a major push to improve access to education for girls since an American-led offensive ousted the Taliban following the Sept. 11 terror attack on the U.S.

Fewer than 1 million Afghan children — mostly boys — attended school under Taliban rule. Now, roughly 6 million do, including 2 million girls.
...

The reason only 2 million girls go to school is explained in the article...girls who go to school are targets for the Taliban. They douse them with acid, beat them and shoot them. But still two million families are willing to take that risk to better their daughter's lives.

WHAT in the name of GOD does this have to do with PRESIDENT George W. Bush's legacy?noway noway noway noway

W's legacy to me will be one of a man who stood up and proclaimed his faith in Jesus Christ to the whole world, a man who got a ban on Partial Birth Abortion, a man who did all he could to help Africa with the treatment and attempt to stop the Aids epidemic (OH EXCUSE ME, HE JUST RECEIVED AN AWARD FOR HIS EXTENSIVE aid to AFRICA for this), a man who cut our taxes, a man who loves our military and our military loves him, unlike the Clinton years.

A man of courage and endurance, who stood the line and did not waiver.

I PRAISE GOD FOR PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH AND FIRST LADY LAURA BUSH.....

Bush's great legacy needs bumped.

When Reagan left office, he was called one of the worst presidents in American history by Historians. He's now considered one of the best. George Bush won't get a fair shake from anyone who is a mindless partisan. It will be awhile before Americans can look at the Bush years as they truly were. But while it might take a generation before Bush gets his due in America, free Afganis and Iraqis are already singing his praises. Those who appreciate the sacrifices that America made so that they could have freedom and their daughters could walk down the street without a Burka or an escort or their daughters can go to school, those people are already thanking Bush for what he has done.

You can't even begin to compare Afghanistan to Iraq. One was a response to an attack by actual terrorists. The other was waged under a cover of lies and misinformation.

Every intelligence agency in the world thought Iraq had WMDs or was close to having them. That is common knowledge. Bush had bad intelligence. Sorry! It happens. Especially when Saddam WANTED the world to think he had WMDs. Democrats were all over the airwaves form when Bush announced the invasion until four months post invasion talking about how Iraq had WMDs, it was just a matter of finding them. Then suddenly, when it looked like we weren't going to find any, the Democrats start whining about the war. You might have a selective memory, but I don't.

So you are either not informed enough to discuss the issue or you are a liar. Because this information is easily and widely available. You are on the internet to post your silly little response, hit google and actually learn something instead of just towing the party line.

"If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq's weapons of mass destruction program."
--President Bill Clinton, Feb. 17, 1998

"We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seeking and developing weapons of mass destruction."
-- Sen. Ted Kennedy (D, MA), Sept. 27, 2002

"I will be voting to give the President of the United States the authority to use force -- if necessary -- to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security."
-- Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Oct. 9, 2002

"Without question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime ... He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation ... And now he is miscalculating America's response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction ... So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real..."

Lol, awfully defensive here. I believe I can post regardless of whether you think it is informed or not.

Whether you agree or not, the world was sold a bill of goods on Iraq that was refuted even before the war started.

There's no need for you to be rude or a bully.

Why don't you talk to the moderators about it?

Here, I'll write the email for you:

Spidercmb made me look like a complete idiot
because I posted a fallacious reply about a subject that I have no knowlege about. sad

In your mind maybe..Shall we "poll" the people of mingle? Seems you are the only one with that impression..

Oh, because you were blinders everyone else is blind? Just because the facts and history support my statements and refute his, that's no reason to think I'm right, huh? laugh Listen. If everyone in the world stood up and said "You are wrong on this SpiderCMB", I would just shake my head in pity for those who are willfully ignorant. If you want to number yourself with the willfully ignorant, how do you think that effects me personally? I'll tell you one thing, it gives me a good belly laugh.

I kinda disagree. Look whats happening now. People do not have jobs. Yes there are those who are lazy and just want a "free lunch" but Im in Florida and there is just no jobs. If you have one you better keep it. People out of work cant sell their home to move else where for work. Now I did say "kinda"

This isn't due to Clinton and Bush, and it's been trickling toward this conclusion for many years. America has become a country that buys on credit, bankruptcy lawyers just shoveling that money under a rug, now the bank's out of pocket--of course, why in the world would they lend to someone who makes a fraction above living costs in the first place?

We've got higher taxes and restrictions on US businesses than they have in any other country, so companies take their industries overseas. That takes our jobs away. China can make it cheaper and even with import tax comes out FAR ahead of companies such as GMC and Dimler-Chrysler. That's where the jobs are going. Not to mention, people don't buy American anymore; and that can't help.

Yeah, FL is bad. It's geared toward tourist, but if you can work in radio/tv that's good money.. police/fd, steady with good benefits.. weather storm trackers.. idk.

I'm not trying to make my way into the wealthy bracket. This isn't my home, just passing thru. I would like to leave my kids with an inheritance, but that's just as importantly given through training them to be hard workers, respectful of our presidents (no matter who they are), and teachers, on down the ladder. Complaining about something at our house gets you nothing. But when I have a child who's responsible at other things, I make sure I point it out and give them more responsibility.

We're not teaching the underpriveledged this. We teach greed and disrespect. We're just giving them what they need to sustain impoverished lives. The times when life got the toughest for me were the times I got up and found a way to make it different. It's called tough love, and over time when you properly reward and not penalize those who come thru it, it works.

I wonder how many of these girls are getting a "fair and equal" education now from their teachers and i wonder how many of those teachers are female. What subjects are they being taught? Just because they are in school does not mean they are getting the same education and treatment as the boys.

President Bush attacked Iraq and Saddam hussein for the simple reason that he believed Saddam was a threat to the world.Anyone who watched news on a daily basis would certainly agree.Saddam invaded Iran and Saudi arabia. He gassed thousands of Kurds. He launced missles into Isreal and called for it's destruction. He said he would give any suicide bombers family $10,000 dollars for each dead american they killed. He also ignited all his oil wells resulting in one of the histories greatest environmental diasasters. He was a crazy unstable dictator and a threat to the world.Saddam was also very cruel to even his own people. There has been well documented cases of torture rooms. His former financer had his hands cut off because the Iraq economy was going downhill.

Alot of people say this was a illegal war. This is not true.Nato approved almost with a majority for us to invade Iraq(China and Russia rejecting of course). Many countries also helped and continue to help with this war.Few people say they missed Sadaam. You will find few people that wised he was back.People now have freedom. When Saddam ruled the only job position a woman could work was a teacher. Now women are in government positions.Iraq currently has a 68 billion dollar surplus.

Although I am no fan of George bush there is no doubt in my mind he has done a good job considering the circumstances. After this is all over is this not the closest we have come to world peace?

With all the war and genocide going around the world, we are a far cry from anything remote to world peace. Peace is initated through the people in reforms and change in their government not by acts of blantant agression. Bush has only done what he and his war hawk friends thought was best. His lack of diplomacy smeared America's reputation with the world. Do some things require us to go to war? Yes some things like an outright attack on us demand a response. But to instigate conflict prior to all other measures is foolish and a diservice to our armed forces. I will remind you that the only reason the war got approved is becuase of faulty, misleading and or complete lies in intelligence. When the reason you go to war is a lie, you are the one who is viewed as the terrorist not your enemy. Don't get me wrong i am proud of what the troops have accomplished and that Saddam is gone, but i fear some of our troops dyed thinking the reason Bush,Cheney and Powell sent them to war was the truth. Last i checked still no WMD. May heaven bring this war to a successful conclusion and bring our troops back safely.

So much for the commies who call themselves "independants." That's another joke. Minnesota...the laughing stock of the country. they go for star power not brains in that state.

How's that twiddledumm Al Franken...trying to steal an election. He's about as popular as his dumb azz "free" radio show was. Talk about an arrogant idiot??? Well we will have alot of fun watching the LIB commies make fools of themesleves in the next two years. Won't we now? laugh

And i thought Archie Bunker was a made up character.Hate isn't pretty.

hey now...watch it !!...Archie Bunker is my hero...cross my heart... ....lol
