Topic: Take Your Flag And Stove It | |

king in his famous speech said I have a dream...that means to look forward...but how can the black move forward when ya'll are still stuck in the past...that means the man died for nothing...he shed his blood for you to whine and complain ***** and moan about a flag...come on now... Because, whether we like it or not they have the right to do that. Hell, Skin heads, KKK, etc all have the right to form parades etc. Just because we don't like what they do doesnt make it illegal. |

Enderra,
I've read some of your other posts, you are by no means an ignorant person. I've also read some of your poems and creative writings, which lead me to believe that you are a person of great depth. This is by no means anything to "attack" you or your beliefs or your COLOR by any shape form or fashion, but the person who wrote the other posts, doesn't seem like the same person here. What did you hope to accomplish by posting this? Was it to enlightened those you feel were ignorant of what your ancestors dealt with or that the confederate flag was perceived as racist to all black people? If so, IMO, you will NEVER achieve any enlightenment by becoming the very thing you cry out so loudly against...and that's a racist. I don't consider myself one, but some of your comments, I have PERCEIVED as being very racist! I've never done it, but my brother traced my ancestors and they came here as INDENTURED servants...that's nothing but a fancy name for slavery. They had to work until they had "paid" for their trip here and how was it decided how much work they had to do that would "pay" for their trip to this land? Do you want the confederate flag wiped out totally because some people perceive it as racist? It won't happen...some people don't perceive it that way and those who do are usually narrow minded people who wouldn't change their beliefs no matter how many facts were put in front of them. Do you want an apology from every white person? I won't apologize for something I didn't do, had no control over, and would not have participated in, had I been there and given a choice. Some of your comments, I PERCEIVED as blanket comments. Not all white people are racist, not all confederate flag wavers believe it to stand as a semblence of slavery, not all southerners are racist. I don't like cliches, but I'll use this one. You'll catch more flies with honey then you ever will with vinegar and some of your remarks, I, and I'm speaking for only myself, perceive them as being full of vinegar. |

I have no interest in catching anything. It was a statement and with any luck that flag will carry the same stigma as the swastika.

I cautiously step into to this thread to state only that the swastika was given that stigma by fanatics, it wasn't born with it. Symbols are used for many reasons, right or wrong. The confedrate flag has many social stigmas associated with it.
The swastika is an ancient religous symbol still in use in many parts of the world by Bhudist and Hindus. People's perception of symbols and flags are their own and should be respected. Hope I didn't offend anyone (Sorry for the crappy spelling) |

Your right Enderra. Im with you. Don't let these people try to reverse this on you.The confederate flag is a symbol of evil. This is NOT subjective. It is an objective fact and you have the facts on your side darling. You dont have to go sit quietly no more. Im with you darling.

Why do all these white people gotta start talking about their ancestors whenever someone brings up slavery, as if that somehow means something? Think about it. Why do they feel that connection to the past? Why do they automatically feel that they must defend themselves? If they werent there, and they did not participate, then why do they have to "explain" these things? So considering that so many of them draw pride from their ancestors, then what are they saying about others who's ancestors were slaves? What are they implying? |

I have no interest in catching anything. It was a statement and with any luck that flag will carry the same stigma as the swastika. Again that is your perception and I fully understand. To my many friends who are Buddhists it means something different. Facing to the right it represents strength and intelligence, facing to the left it means love and mercy. In Chinese it can be used to identify something as vegetarian. |

I have a direct connection, my grandfather's diary. Its like reading history of yourself, or reading about where you came from. I like to re-read the diary's of myself from back when i was 13 and being scared of middle school, and seeing how i came out now. Its like a spiritual journey of sorts |

Now you're thinking like the closed minded conservatives that you despise so much... |

What I think that you are saying is that you beleive the swastika is a symbol of evil. Did I mis-understand? I am also saying that others beleive it to represent the opposite. This my friend is a fact. |

This isnt directed at anyone here but I would just like to paraphrase some of my abolitionist heroes.
I will show you that slavery is wrong. I will show you that slavery is wrong by the laws of man. I will show you slavery is wrong by the Laws Of GOD. And if that don't work, I will show you slavery is wrong with my fists,my knives, and my guns. |
