One Solitary Life He was born in an obscure village, the child of a peasant woman. He grew up in another obscure village, where He worked in a carpenter shop until He was thirty. Then for three years He was an itinerant preacher. He never wrote a book. He never held office. He never owned a home. He never went to college. He never set foot inside a big city. He never traveled two hundred miles from the place where he was born. He did none of the things that usually accompany greatness. He had no Credentials, but himself. He had nothing to do with this world except the naked power of His divine manhood. While He was still a young man the tide of popular opinion turned against Him. His friends deserted Him. He was turned over to His enemies and went through the mockery of a trial. He was nailed to a cross between two thieves. While He was dying, His executioners gambled for the only piece of property He had – His coat. When He was dead, He was taken down and laid in a borrowed grave. Nineteen wide centuries have come and gone, and today He is still the centerpiece for much of the human race. All the armies that have ever marched, and all the navies that ever sailed, and all the parliaments that ever sat, and all the kings that ever reigned, put together, have not affected the life of man upon this earth as powerfully as this “One Solitary Life.” (Author Anonymous) |

All the armies that have ever marched, and all the navies that ever sailed, and all the parliaments that ever sat, and all the kings that ever reigned, put together, have not affected the life of man upon this earth as powerfully as this “One Solitary Life.” (Author Anonymous) Actually this isn't true. It wasn't just "One Solitary Life". That's not true in the least. The reason this man is so popular is because it is claimed that he was the incarnation of the God of Abraham which was already a very powerful religion at the time this man was born. This man is nothing in and of himself. He only has meaning when he stands on the shoulders of an entire religion that preceded him for millennia. This is especially true of his death which would have absolutely no meaning whatsoever if it wasn’t for a belief in a God who is appeased by blood sacrifices in the first place. If people are going to make proclamations about this man the least they can do is be truthful in what they proclaim. Lying isn’t nice. It most certainly wasn’t just “One Solitary Life”. This is extremely misleading and completely false. This was just one character in a whole complex religion that dates back thousands of years before this man was ever born. Far from being “One Solitary life” it's a whole complex religion. I see no reason to lie about it. What's wrong with the telling the truth? |

why are we discussing religion in the general forum anyway?

Yup, here we go...If it brings comfort then let it be. I'm with you 100% there! But why try to sell it using lies? That's the part I don't understand. Believe what you will, but if someone's going to preach it, at least they ought to preach it with truth. It's nowhere near being about "One Solitary Life". So why make such an outrageous claim? At least accept it for the whole complex religion that it is. That's all I'm saying. |

By what logic was it determined that this was "General" discussion material and not more suited for the religion forum?
