I think the problem is that people can't seem to understand the difference between belief and truth. Just because you believe something does not mean it's true; no matter how much you wish it was, or how many times you proclaim it. It's still just your opinion, no more valid than mine. Yes. But in and of itself this confusion of belief and truth is not problematic. Only when others are required to share your beliefs as truths have you created a problem. Or when you "threaten" them for their unbelief. Most believers say that they are not trying to threaten or intimidate or "force" their beliefs on others. But, what exactly do they think "you will answer to my god one day" or "another will judge you" etc. are? They are threats, they are intimidation. If thats not your intent than don't say these silly things... Peace to all, regardless of your beliefs. Very nicely put.

I have seen prayers in other forums and have not seen anyone "pull the pin" because they were so outraged that they had to ignore a prayer that they did not like. But to pray for someone who has already stated that he does not believe in your God smacks of proslytizing in my opinion. To err is human; to forgive is divine." Some of the most difficult words for humans to say are: "I have sinned. I am sorry. I forgive." Yet, if we are to be like Jesus we must learn the art of forgiveness. It is a serious matter to be unforgiving. There is a principle revealed in the model prayer given by our Lord to his disciples.
Too often we humans foolishly refuse to extend forgiveness on the basis that we do not believe in the sincerity of the one requesting it. What dangerous ground this is. Only God has the power to look within the heart and judge sincerity. We are to forgive whenever forgiveness is requested (Luke 17:34). To rebuff a request to make right a wrong is to place our own soul in jeopardy. "It is only the forgiving who are qualified to receive forgiveness. Living a Christian life means Treating others with love. Philippians 2:3-4 says, "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others." Living the Christian life does not mean enjoying a life of ease and never experiencing problems. 1 Peter 5:8 says that there is an enemy who wishes to destroy us: "Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour." But we also read that Jesus has overcome the world! No matter what opposition you face, living the Christian life is worth it! Enjoying a relationship with God and His Son Jesus, being confident of where you will spend eternity, and living in day-to-day fellowship with Him is far greater than any opposition you may face. Living out the teachings of Christ. Jesus taught: "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven" (Matthew 5:3-10). # Sharing your faith. Matthew 5:14-16 says, "You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven." I have no problem with a family praying. If they come to my table and start praying over me, I have a problem. Is there anything in that distinction that is not clear to you? Trust me Star, I am having more fun than you can imagine. It was not political correctness that drove me so much as a sense of fairness. I am big on that and it gets me into trouble alot!
And the hatred for me- I didn't mean you. I meant Smirnoff. It's starting to sound like he is my imaginary playmate. Honest Mom!! Smirnoff did it!!!
