The more I visit the Mingle forums, the more I find them thought provoking or funny. Most times, after reading funny replies to threads, I leave with a smile on face, Or on some days with thoughts bubbling in my one watt brain, after reading deeply thought provoking threads or questions from other members. Does anyone else find it the same? Maybe it's because I'm fairly new to the forum but I sometimes cringe at the responses to a post. I'm not talking about the comments that are funny or comical but there are some that are abrasive and very sarcastic. I have not originated many posts but if I was just starting out here and received responses like that I'd think twice before posting again. |

I'm not a thrower. Many years ago my ex and I were working on a house we had bought and had been for a few days. He got frustrated about something and threw a screwdriver across the room. His throw was so bad it nearly hit my head, I could feel my hair move as it brushed past my head. The guy was totally inept when it came to anything "fixit" wise. His temper would get the best of me.

Look, just because I had this one relationship where he cheated doesn't mean I think men always cheat. This was a first for me and I don't look at men that way. And btw, we are still friends of a sort. Yes, it took awhile but eventually we were able to be friends.
I don't burn bridges with my exes and yes I do have more than a few.

I'm on the side that LDR that exceed a few hundred miles are just not doable or real. You can't see each other enough to find out how the relationship works on a daily level. I did have a relationship where we met locally but he ended up traveling overseas for long periods of time. So, after the first year we would see each other 3 times a year. Took it's toll and then the cheating started, not me. Him. I didn't know about the cheating for 3 years. Then it was another year of extricating myself.

Have I outgrown my city..how could I, it such a great city. There's always so much to do, especially in the summer. Jazz Fest, comedy fest, film fest, Canadian Grand Prix of Formula One racing, old Montreal, the multitude of open terraces, quaint coffee shops. The diversity is wonderful to see, from nationality to fashion to food. Montreal was named North America's leading host city for international events. Can't go wrong there eh ;) Oh and hockey...'nuf said ;) I have to say that Montreal is a city I will never set foot in again. Was for there for business about 20 yrs ago, first I was accused by a hotel manager of being a "professional" as I was sitting in the hotel bar (where I was staying) and told to leave the bar. The next night I took people from the local office out to dinner and the waiter refused to speak to me. The people I was with thought I was English Canadian so he wouldn't talk to me. There were a few other rude treatments I received from Montreal service people in the course of a 2 and 1/2 day visit. Never again. Rudest city I've ever been to. |

first you must meet the right woman or man.. and spend several months getting to know them... developing a strong emotional and love connection... then after you have both sat down.. discussed your future plans together.... what would happen if she got pregnant... can you both be good parents... do you want to be parents... can you afford to be parents.. then you must talk about some form of birth control.... .... and then you must take her out for a very expensive dinner.... give her liquor...... then take her home.. ....... and give her more liquor... ...... and then when she has had enough of liquor.... then have sex.. . only missionary..... and only to make her pregnant...ok.. . may God go with the both of you..

I've had the same thing happen, maybe not to the degree of your situation. I guess you just have to become immune to the disappointment. When it's long distance the chances are slim anything will happen in real life. I avoid skype or yahoo cam until I've messaged with a guy for a bit. Even once I skype that is more to prove to the man that I am who I say I am. Plus, I can confirm the same on him.
If we can't arrange to meet within a couple months it isn't going to ever happen. I will say something though if he doesn't first. It's online dating. |
