ha ha, my friend asked me to keep him away from upper management at the Christmas party on Friday. Up to the point where I got drunk I did just that, then I kind of lost track of what he was up to. Went looking for him and he was bear hugging and kissing his old manager ha ha ha LOL...Oh geez! Is that office appropriate? ![]() |

I have to go to work, but I scanned, very quickly, the first site interview. These are philisophical inquiries, so I'm wondering exactly what part of these inquiries you want to discuss. Well I don't know as a liberal how far I can stretch to compromise with the other side on anything, I am just now starting to find out if there is any compromise because I hate all this sniping back and forth. And I wonder if there are conservatives and liberals willing to stretch at all, so any part of the discussion is fine with me, but I guess it's mostly still having to do with the gay marriage issue and our preconceived notions on both sides that might keep us from coming together on this issue of gay marriage or morality. I am not sure where it will begin or end but lets just go by what comes to mind naturally first?!! Well actually I don't know if it's the board or what...but I know libs & we discuss things all the time without arguing & hating eachother. I think the best conversations I've had are with people who ...at the end of the day we can take some of my best ideas & melt it with some of the best of their ideas to come up with something that actually works. You won't get that with political animals. This board & the general religion board are two boards where most people just want to argue. If you want civil discussion about Christianity without the Christian bashing bigot club they got going on, come to the christian singles. Maybe they should do the same with the politics board...make a split (CON/LIB)... & people have to be civil if they are in that board. Then MAYBE you will get civil discussion. Best to you on that one. |

I got this today & it really gave me a hoot! Political correctness at its best. Too funny... this is what twisted logic does.... LOL
FROM: Patty Lewis, Human Resources Director TO: All Employees DATE: October 01, 2008 RE: Gala Christmas Party I'm happy to inform you that the company Christmas Party will take place on December 23, starting at noon in the private function room at the Grill House. There will be a cash bar and plenty of drinks! We'll have a small band playing traditional carols...feel free to sing along. And don't be surprised if our CEO shows up dressed as Santa Claus! A Christmas tree will be lit at 1:00 PM. Exchanges of gifts among employees can be done at that time; however, no gift should be over $10.00 to make the giving of gifts easy for everyone's pockets. This gathering is only for employees! Our CEO will make a special announcement at that time! Merry Christmas to you and your family, Patty ============================================================================ FROM: Patty Lewis, Human Resources Director TO: All Employees DATE: October 02, 2008 RE: Gala Holiday Party In no way was yesterday's memo intended to exclude our Jewish employees. We recognize that Hanukkah is an important holiday, which often coincides with Christmas, though unfortunately not this year. However, from now on, we're calling it our "Holiday Party." The same policy applies to any other employees who are not Christians and to those still celebrating Reconciliation Day. There will be no Christmas tree and no Christmas carols will be sung. We will have other types of music for your enjoyment. Happy now? Happy Holidays to you and your family, Patty ============================================================================ FROM: Patty Lewis, Human Resources Director TO: All Employees DATE: October 03, 2008 RE: Holiday Party Regarding the note I received from a member of Alcoholics Anonymous requesting a non-drinking table ... You didn't sign your name. I'm happy to accommodate this request, but if I put a sign on a table that reads, "AA Only," you wouldn't be anonymous anymore. How am I supposed to handle this? Somebody? And sorry, but forget about the gift exchange, no gifts are allowed since the union members feel that $10.00 is too much money and the executives believe $10.00 is a little chintzy. REMEMBER: NO GIFT EXCHANGE WILL BE ALLOWED. ============================================================================ FROM: Patty Lewis, Human Resources Director To: All Employees DATE: October 04, 2008 RE: Generic Holiday Party What a diverse group we are! I had no idea that December 20 begins the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, which forbids eating and drinking during daylight hours. There goes the party! Seriously, we can appreciate how a luncheon at this time of year does not accommodate our Muslim employees' beliefs. Perhaps the Grill House can hold off on serving your meal until the end of the party or else package everything for you to take it home in little foil doggy baggy. Will that work? Meanwhile, I've arranged for members of Weight Watchers to sit farthest from the dessert buffet, and pregnant women will get the table closest to the restrooms. Gays are allowed to sit with each other. Lesbians do not have to sit with Gay men, each group will have their own table. Yes, there will be a flower arrangement for the Gay men's table. To the person asking permission to cross dress, the Grill House asks that no cross-dressing be allowed, apparently because of concerns about confusion in the restrooms. Sorry. We will have booster seats for short people. Low-fat food will be available for those on a diet. I am sorry to report that we cannot control the amount of salt used in the food . The Grill House suggests that people with high blood pressure taste a bite first. There will be fresh "low sugar" fruits as dessert for diabetics, but the restaurant cannot supply "No Sugar" desserts. Sorry! Did I miss anything?!?!? Patty ============================================================================ FROM: Patty Lewis, Human Resources Director TO: All F#$&*ng Employees DATE: October 05, 2008 RE: The F*%#ing Holiday Party I've had it with you vegetarian pricks!!! We're going to keep this party at the Grill House whether you like it or not, so you can sit quietly at the table furthest from the "grill of death," as you so quaintly put it, and you'll get your fu&*^%g salad bar, including organic tomatoes. But you know, tomatoes have feelings, too. They scream when you slice them. I've heard them scream. I'm hearing them scream right NOW! The rest of you %*#$'ing weirdos can kiss my *ss. I hope you all have a rotten holiday! Drive drunk and die, The B* from HE*^!!!!!!!! ============================================================================ FROM: Joan Bishop, Acting Human Resources Director DATE: October 06, 2008 RE: Patty Lewis and Holiday Party I'm sure I speak for all of us in wishing Patty Lewis a speedy recovery and I'll continue to forward your cards to her. In the meantime, management has decided to cancel our Holiday Party and give everyone the afternoon of the 23rd off with full pay. Happy Holidays! Joan |

How can I say this politely.. If you think that many families are facing a bleak Christmas because of the Bush policies, then name the policies that specifically caused it to happen. Gas prices rose because many countries like China, India are growing and using alot of oil to build the heavy industries that environmentalist have run out of your country. Food prices went higher because there was a rush to biodiesel and Hurricains( I'm sure you will blame them on Bush too) Families that are in foreclosure are mostly there because they either are living beyond their income level or they signed contracts without paying attention to the details of it, A lawyer would have prevented that. Congress in 1992 let see, who was the president then?? Past a law requiring money lenders to give loans to people who wouldn't normally qualify them..how come they didn't qualify..because they have bad credit. Liberals then wanted every to own a house, and they didn't care how many people would be hurt because of their bad policy. Does the threat of terrorism even matter...you would be singing a different tune if everytime you went to work or your children went to school, the mall or any group gathering, you would have to worry if they were going to make it there and back alive.. Everyperson in this country has a right to go to a hospital and receive care...even if they cannot afford it..and don't have to pay it back..that is the law. I am tired of whiners and complainers trying to handcuff our ability to defend and protect ourselves and others from BAD PEOPLE..Like TERRORISTS and blaming everything on Bush.. Remember is was the same people that were in office that really created this fiasco during the Clinton year, that Obama is now putting back in office..Who was it that allowed terrorists to bomb the world trade center, the barracks in Lebanon, and allowed intelligence to weaken to the point that we couldn't even determine what was going to happen before it happened. It is the same cry to complain about Iraq that complained about Vietnam..and to those I ask this question..Were the 3 million people that were killed after we pulled out of Vietnam better off dead?? Was it worth us getting out to find out that hundreds of thousand of people were tortured and killed when we shut the door in their faces and left their arms stretched out us as in those last pictures of our choppers leaveing?? Would the people of Iraq be better off with a mad man that killed people for the fun of it, tossed them off buildings to the pavement just because they didn't bow to their leader..Were the little girls better off being raped and killed a the whim of Saddams sons' just for thier pleasure..where the hundreds and thousands better off when we stood by and did nothing??? I think not If we lived in a perfect world, we could all stand in a big circle and sing songs and jump for joy and world peace..but the reality is that we live in a imperfect world, and terrorists are allow to kill people just because we don't share their ideology, millions of people are allowed to die in Darfur and Rowanda, and who will speak for them...who will defend the helpless, the impoverished and the oppressed...you don't know what that is here in America...you don't have a clue.. Well now some people don't want to be confused with facts. That's the truth. They are not called the COUNTER culture for no reason. |

What are your predictions

It is hard to predict how much harm Obama will do. Obama's tax increases are going to be a problem, and are one of the major factors in the current market turmoil. A really big tax increase combined with the inflationary policies at the Federal Reserve would be mimicking the US policies that led to stagflation in the 1970's, although the lack of wage and price controls might allow us to escape with less damage this time around. You won't get an argument here. Obama's global warming policies have the potential to cripple the US economy, but if he actually passes them, the republicans would win in a landslide in 2012 even if they nominate another Bush. The eco-terrorism goes on in the DNC. I wonder how the DEMS are going to explain to the working class (and UNIONS) that they aren't going to produce more jobs because because of the global kabaal they got us into? Nationalized Health Care will cause some significant problems, but most will be long term issues, not short term problems, so passing this will not be as big of a problem over the next 4 years. We wouldn't need natl. healthcare. Instead people should be fighting for jobs WITH benefits. What's wrong with this picture? Obama's trade policies remain a big question mark. Hopefully he will not push major protectionism. My best guess is that we get into some more trade disagreements over the next few years, but nothing to terrible. How about stop calling it protectionsim & start calling it rebuliding our nation & our industry base back up again? How about making OUR NATION prosper with our own hands instead of the paper tiger lie we've been fed all these years? From a foreign policy standpoint Obama seems to be moving towards the Bush policies, although I remain concerned that he will look the other way while Iran builds a few nukes. From a foreign policy POV how about the problem we are going to have if OBAMA decides to make all the illegals naturalized ???? Not to mention the cost!!!! Not to mention how much more we AMERICANS are going to lose!!!! In the end most thinking Americans will realize they bought into a lie that OBAMA was this great savior & DEMS were for the little guy only to find out that it will never be more than politics as susal & that even tho they didn't like REPS they will know who was being honest with them. |

That's DEMS trying to force everyone to their way of thinking & making public policy using public funding that make real rights a crime. Law breakers...that what LIB DEMS stand for. they aren't called the COUNTER culture for no reason. Counter everything that makes a people good that is. |

dont want to but I got to....Anyone who thinks going to war in another country is not a better choice than fighting it in our own country is an idiot..9=11 was the beginning and would be the normal activity if we werent on their soil fighting the battle.....I lost family in every war since WWI..I lost friends and family since vietnam/// I would never disgrace their memory by thinking any war was a mistake....and any means necessary should be used to extract information when it saves american lives..Bush and Chaney did what they had to do in order to overcome a democrat controled congress more concerned with party lines than doing whats right....After Jan. the democrats control the senate the house and the presidency...Lets see just how bad they can screw the average working joe YES well the lovefest won't last long....now DEMS will actually have to come up with VIABLE solutions. Since they don't sneeze without REPS they will be so lost. They lib hysteria over BUSH/CHENEY is more revisionist garbage. There is no room for their boasts...he who laughs last as the saying goes. We can all say "I told you so" as they go scamping back under the rocks they came from...and leaving OBAMA out to dry. |

I think people really need to use the dictionary when they use such words. Something desperately needed under the tree this year. For those who celibrate Christmas that is... Makes one wonder how many here who bash Christianity celebrate it anyway??? Hypocrisy. Now there's a concept. |

To the individual a few pages back who said that if I want a discussion about the different religions rituals for becoming saved, thank you for the very good advice that such discussions are better held in the Christianity forum. It is a shame that every discussion about religion that includes any christian faith must devolve into the same boring debate that I have read over and over and over and over again. However, it is not my place to judge, and so I will leave you all to your discussion. Happy Holidays! Yes...come over to Christian singles were there is real discussion & sharing without all the twisted thinking, hate & all that goes on here. Where civility reigns & a new day dawns! ![]() |

I am not sure what the intention of the original post was, but if that was intended to provide a definition and/or process to become saved, and to discuss it, I think the original post did a good job. As far as the discussions in this thread, I think people are missing a very important point. Religion is based upon faith and belief, not just logic. While logic does have an important role to play in faith, logic alone can not answer the questions of religion. For those who are complaining that Christians can not definitively prove their beliefs, they are missing the point. Religion can not exist without faith and belief. It is not up to a person of faith to scientifically prove what they believe. Personally I would have found this thread more enlightening if it had been a discussion about becoming saved, rather than a thread debating if Christianity is the one true religion. Well actually they should change the name of this board to the Christian bashing bigot club. |

Well actually Britt...there are many more nuances to prophetic gifting that shouldn't be brushed off as something hoaky...especially by people who call thesmelves Christians.
We will never know all there is to know & expereince with the Lord in this life... that is the beauty of the personal relationship. The manifestations vary from person to person but we can all agree that God is who He says He is. Makes me wonder why people limit God's potential ????? |

![]() ![]() ![]() .....Salvation Explained..... chuck@chuckbaldwinlive.com ![]() ![]() ![]() I am a Taoist-Christain, so don't freak out becuase of the following. If you intend to win the hearts and minds of people, lets dicuss a few of these points with the questions of non-believers. Point # 1: Who not what says we should conform to believing in your specfic diety? There are many faith claiming to be the "light and the "truth" and the "way". Uh no...there are many "religions" that exchange our works for grace. Grace is a gift from God & not of ourselves. That is a major difference between Christianity & other "religions." Point#2 How can all men be seperated from God? Isn't the tale of adam and eve similar to tales from various other religions. In fact some say it is almost an exact copy of the bablyionian tale of Gigamesh? How are we to trust the bible, a text written by men and whose version decended from the bible which was assembled by men at the council of Nicae around 300 a.d. nearly 300 years after christ. There are many texts which were added or left out over the centuries that followed, so is to say that the bible(whichever version you read) is genuine let alone the "word of God"? The Bible is more than a story. It's all God breathed and inspired... not of man. Those who experience the manifestations of God in their lives know this to be true. Those who haven't yet still question the "who & what" of God. Point #3 Why just Jesus? There have been many men who preformed miracles and brought light and wisdom to the world. Are we not all children of "God"? Why pick just one person to be the route to eternal salvation. Why just one way? Because God's word says there is only one mediator between God & man & that is Jesus Christ. That is what all those who profess to be Christians believe. Point #4 Again who not what says there is just one way. What about all those who lived before christ or even perhaps those who have never heard your message? Are you saying those poor souls are condemned to hell? The word of God says everyone will have a chance to repent & recieve Christ & so all will be without excuse. Before grace there was the law & God chose a people who would reveal His glory to the rest of the world. While they did not experience dispensation they recieved the promise. Point#5 Who not what said proof was required of someones faith? Do not my actions and choices speak of my faith themselves? Again what makes individuals who say such things right? Is not my personal relationship with Christ and God enough? There are those who can only lead the way...but it's up to the individual to taste & see if the Lord is good. That is something no one can do for another. OTOH, if you are going to resist what is being said that will also get you nowhere. I find it very disturbing the number of christians who can not actually answer such questions without constantly repeating verses which mean nothing to the none believer and ultimately are questionable to them as well as the number of questions that go unanswered as a result of such "salvation" tactics. Uh...all MS did was point the way to salvation & explained the what fors along with it according to what God's word says it is. That is really up to the person to try it or not. Explanations are important & not just what some consider mindnumb memorization of the word. Most here quote what they believe & it shows in their understanding of what God is saying. It is my personal belief if one is to trully claim to be a member of a particular faith then must research it, study it, not just the texts but the history, languages and cultural backgrounds and ties. Quoting bible verses may win you a few followers but i believe you'll find that 2/3 of them will fall away from the "flock" when they start asking these questions. Explanations along with God's word as back up is important. It's God's word along with the personal relationship that backs up what the Christian believes. If everything was in black & white there would be no need for faith. Right? BTW...we are here to discuss...it's only thru life & living along with knowing other Christians that you get the flavor of faith dear heart. God bless you. I hope God meets you wherever you are at. ![]() Again case and point for my point that most christians know little of their own faith and beliefs much less have the reasoning to convince others to follow christ. #1 You still have not answered the question and have a fallacy in your arguement that assumes christianity is the only religion were one reaches paradise, heaven or salvation and escape from the torment of life and its consquences. This is a flawed assumption on your part, had you studied other faiths in a none biased fashion you would have learned many faiths believe their deity will have mercy and compassion on them in the afterlife even if they did none of the required works of the faith. Speaking of work, doesn't the christian faith require many works both physical and ones of faith? So in reality there is no difference. 2. All faiths claim their texts, wisdom and practices are inspiried by the divine. So with so many claiming this ,just having faith based on practice and the texts does not offer a reasonable arguement for conversion to a particular religion. So answer the question and quit sitting there squawking meaningless verses or saying becuase i,he,she, them said so. 3. Agian answer the question in a way that would convince a non-believer other then just spouting off verses and making statements that just leave more questions.... ![]() 4. Agian you are just justifying belief based on text. You again are not answering the question with a statement of reason or a logical arguement that would convince the non-believer. Again (who) not what says there is only one way and what proof would provide that would support their statements. How do you jusify a being condemning humans to hell for not knowing or hearing the message? Stating that they know the message when they never hear it or receieve it is utter nonsense. 5. Quoting verses is in no way an indication of their understanding, wisdom, faith or belief. That is like saying xerox machine becuase it can copy text out of the bible is something with wisdom and divine understanding. You are right that in the end when presented with a reasonable explanation or arguement and their questions are reasonably answered or resolved then they have the responsibility to make a choice. But it is up to people of that faith to provide the non-believer those explanations and answers first before a decision can be made. That is why it irritates when bible thumpers will create a thread about salvation but are unable or completely unwilling to answer such questions and by doing so don't think they are hypocrites or that their faith is questionable. So again answer the questions. ![]() Your questions were answered...I guess you just don't like the answers. That's your choice. No further discussion is necessary. |
