God says to pray without ceasing. Jesus also told the disciples to pray & not fall asleep. Praying alone or praying corporately is something that is very important.

It's ALL important & it is scriptural. There are more nuances to prayer than most people think. Why confine it by some human standard?

My only problem is when people bring religion into political forums. Where we are usually debating a issue dear to us all. I feel to fully understand you true feelings on these issues I must fully understand your Religion, your Beliefs in that religion and how that religion affects your life. If you ask my beliefs I will share mine. You have the right to refuse, I have the right to refuse. Religion's and Church splinter into pockets with their own beliefs

No! You don't have the right to refuse when it affects our society & our taxation...IE...govt. interferances.

I have been in the stores. It's an eirie feeling when there is not much new on the shelves. Even the dollar junk stores were out of alot of Christmas notions. The stores are not stocking up this year folks. I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas anyway. It's not always about what you can buy.

Not for anything but I have been saying that we need a year of jubilee. If the big guys won't do it, it looks like they will be forced to.

I have to say tho, this season makes me want to just be out there with other people even more. In a different way than the usual that is.

Consumer prices drop record 1 percent in October

Consumer prices drop by largest amount in past 61 years as energy prices see record plunge
Martin Crutsinger, AP Economics Writer
Wednesday November 19, 2008, 9:24 am EST
Yahoo! Buzz Print WASHINGTON (AP) -- Consumer prices plunged by the largest amount in the past 61 years in October as gasoline pump prices dropped by a record amount.

In this Oct. 27, 2008 file photo, a customer pumps gas for $1.99 a gallon at the Dixie Deli gas station in Fairfield, Ohio. Consumer prices plunged by the largest amount in the past 61 years in October as gasoline pump prices dropped by a record amount. (AP Photo/Al Behrman, File)
The Labor Department said Wednesday that consumer prices fell by 1 percent last month, the biggest one-month decline on records that go back to February 1947. The drop was twice as large as the 0.5 percent decline analysts expected.

In other economic news, the Commerce Department reported that construction of new homes and apartments fell by 4.5 percent in October to an annual rate of 791,000 units. That was the slowest construction pace on records going back to 1959 and underscored that housing remains caught in a severe slump.

The big drop in inflation reflected not only a huge fall in gasoline and other energy costs, but widespread declines in other areas. Core consumer prices, which exclude food and energy, fell by 0.1 percent last month, the first drop in core prices in more than a quarter-century.

There were price declines for clothing, new and used cars, and airline fares. Analysts predicted further declines in the months ahead as retailers struggle to attract consumers who are being battered by rising unemployment and the weak economy.

"This report clearly reflects the crunch in discretionary consumers' spending which is likely to persist for the foreseeable future," said Ian Shepherdson, chief U.S. economist at High Frequency Economics.

The big retreat in consumer prices represented a remarkable turnaround from just a few months ago when a relentless surge in energy prices raised concerns that inflation could get out of control.

Since that time, the economy has been jolted by the most serious financial crisis in seven decades with all the turbulence expected to push the country into a severe and prolonged recession.

The U.S. troubles have quickly spread overseas, depressing growth around the world and cutting into demand for oil and other products, a development that has resulted in sharp declines in the price of crude oil and other commodities.

While some are worried that the price retreat could raise the prospect of a deflation, a prolonged bout of falling prices, most economists believe that current conditions are not likely to set the stage for such a development, which last occurred in the U.S. during the Great Depression.

Over the past 12 months, consumer prices have risen by 3.7 percent. That is substantially below the 17-year high of a 12-month price increase of 5.6 percent set this summer. Core prices are up 2.2 percent over the past 12 months.

This price moderation is giving the Federal Reserve the room it needs to cut interest rates to battle the economic slump. The central bank is expected to cut the federal funds rate, the interest that banks charge each other, down to 0.5 percent at its December meeting, even lower than the 1 percent where the funds rate stands currently. The 1 percent funds rate ties the record low for the past half century.

For October, energy prices fell by a record 8.6 percent, led by a record 14.2 percent drop in gasoline prices. Since prices at the pump have continued to fall this month, analysts are looking for a big decline in energy costs in November as well.

The nationwide average for regular gasoline now stands at $2.07, down 33 cents since the start of the month, according to the Energy Information Agency, and well below record-highs above $4 per gallon this summer.

Food costs rose 0.3 percent in October, just half the increase of September, as dairy products and fruit showed declines. Food prices are still 6.1 percent above where they were a year ago, reflecting big increases in past months as grocery stores hiked costs to reflect the higher cost of transportation.

Excluding food and energy, consumer prices fell by 0.1 percent, the first decline in core prices since a similar drop in December 1982 as the country was battling the effects of a severe recession.

Many analysts believe the current downturn will be the worst recession since the 1981-82 slump.

The big drop in inflation meant workers got a break in their discretionary incomes although average weekly earnings, after adjusting for inflation, were still down by 0.9 percent from a year ago. However, that was smaller than the 2.5 percent decrease seen in the prior two months.

I hope this will encourage people today. Keep your hand to the plow. God says Do not get weary for in due time He will raise you up IF you do not faint.

New Harmonies, New Sounds, and a New Army Rising in the Earth!"

Dear Changing Saints:

Recently in the midst of all the changes, the Lord began to speak to me about a "Triumphant Reserve." As I shared recently on Sunday, the Spirit of God overwhelmed us with His Presence in our midst with prophetic utterance and new songs (below). The following is so key for you to read and embrace as we enter this new season:

The Triumphant Reserve

"The time is now that I will call forth My reserve that I have been preparing. This reserve has been in the wings and on the shelves waiting for Me to say the word that will draw them from the wilderness. The time is now! The time is now! The time is now!

"The waiting has produced a power and a glory that has not been seen in this reserve that will now come forth triumphantly. There is a beauty that will come forth in this holy array when I speak. Many will say, 'Who is this coming up from the wilderness?'

"When they begin their journey from captivity, they will radiate with a strength and power that regions and territories have not known before. They will be a changed remnant. You have been designated as one of the Triumphant Reserve.

"You will stand in the midst of great confusion, and a torrent season of great grace and wisdom will be displayed like a multi-colored coat to all the principalities around you.

"There is a beauty that I bring when I come. This mantle will unfurl before you and encompass you in a new way. You have not understood how your freedom and glory has been furled and the world has not been able to see who My People really are.

"I will bring changes in the next 14 months that will cause an unfurling. I am a God that watches every decision that is being made. I am the God of history. I am the God of the present. I am the God of the future. I have seen decisions in the past that will now unfurl. But now, you will see Me take the past and present and unfurl your future.

"I am setting a new order to secure an inheritance that is under scrutiny and attack. Return to your holy abiding place, for you have allowed your emotions to become fragmented and separated. There must be holiness in My remnant people in this hour to wear the mantle that I AM unfurling."

A new song broke out:

The sound of change is now upon us.
A sound of change invades the earth,
The sound of wisdom flowing down,
Sound of grace coming down as a crown.
The sound of change is now upon us,
A sound of change, a new day.

I will return you to your place of victory.
I will return you to the place of your rest.
I will return you to your place of victory.
I will return you to the place of your rest.

It's a love that doesn't care about my past.
It's a love that says don't look back.
It's a love that wants to wrap you in His arms.
It's a love that doesn't care about my past.
It's a love that doesn't look back.

Come forward. Come forward,
Because I love you.
It's a love that covers my past.
It's a love that covers my past.
No, I don't have to look back.
He died to cover my past.
-Meredith Mauldin and John ****son

Return to a Place of Divine Rest

"There is now a divine return in the earth that My people must take, for they must step back and watch Me go before them. I'm a God that goes before you and you must understand that I know the way this day. Step back before your path begins to split into ways that would cause My army not to align properly. Step back and return to your place of rest.

"Return to a place of divine rest in Me. I will cause faith that has been bottled and stopped up in you to arise and surface in a key time and place. I will cause your mission to come into a new order. There is a divine return.

"My people must stay in their abiding place. When the enemy pulls you out of My place of abiding, no matter how righteous the cause seems, when you leave the indwelling power of My presence, this will give the enemy the right to move into places and seep into places that I do not want you to allow. This will form an administration that gives the enemy right to rule.

"This is a time that I am returning a people into a place so they can be called forth in a new way. There's a new form of worship. There's a new cry in My heart for a people to change the way they have worshipped and sacrificed in the past. Come before Me and hear in a new way. Listen intently.

"This is a time that you must rise up. You must come up and ascend into a place you've not been before. Bend down and worship that you might come up. This is a time that without your submission you will not see the movement of My Spirit in the earth realm."

I Am Brooding...

"I AM brooding over many areas in the earth - government, economic and spiritual structures - and changing the structures of how these systems have operated in past seasons. Remove from your heart anything that is above Me. Any strategy or any goal that you have above Me must be removed.

"You must have freedom in your heart in days ahead. This new freedom will cause you to follow in the way that I WILL instruct you. The cry of freedom and the need to worship will save you in the days ahead. You have been a people that have set your freedom upon the civil authorities that have been over you. But I say come to a more excellent way of understanding freedom. You don't understand the workings of the governments of the world.

"Rise up, for your freedom is not in a man's voice but your freedom is in a relationship with My voice. Listen. Listen. Listen. Listen - you must know My voice this hour. It is I who will lead you out of bondage. It is I who will bring you through the door of your future. Know My voice and long to become one with Me in days ahead. Listen intently to those who are speaking what I am saying. Listen carefully to all and hear only ME."

Worship Me in a New Way

"Worship Me in a new way and get ready to ascend! (Keith Pierce). I see a chain on your legs. When you worship, the enemy is pulling you back. War against the chain that is working against you! As you press into worship, I am releasing the Keeper of the Keys to come down and unlock you, releasing you to ascend. I must have you in My Presence now!

"Press to ascend. Press to ascend.
Cry out in worship and press to ascend. The day of ascension has come upon you because the Heaven is open. Rise to ascend. I have an orchestra that I am calling forth. There are sounds that are creating new harmonies in the earth. The harmonies in the earth are now changing. You must know the sound of My harmony in the midst of the chaos.

A new song broke out:

We're marching with Your harmony.
We're marching with Your harmony.
We're marching with Your harmony.
We will go where You're sending.

We're marching with Your harmony,
Marching with Your harmony.
We are marching with Your harmony.
We will go where you say,
Marching with Your harmony.

We hear Your voice and now we see Your way.
The sound - hear the sound.
The sound is pushing you forward.
Hear the sound.
The sound is pushing you forward.
Don't look back, you can't look back,
No strings attached;
Don't look back, no chains attached.

We're marching forth.
We won't turn back.
We're marching forth.
We won't turn back.
-Lauren Aubrey & Tammy Black

Get In Step with My Harmony

"There are sounds that are flowing through your blood. There are sounds that I am rearranging in the bloodlines of nations. Get in step with My harmony and the earth. I AM shaking nations into MY next order.

"Trees are clapping their hands and root systems are becoming renewed. Fruit that hasn't been seen in the last season will burst forth before the eyes of My people this year.

"I am building bridges that you must choose in days ahead. These bridges will be from one side to the other of schisms that have been created. Find that bridge of faith that you are to walk on. In the middle of it, I will meet you and raise you up to a new level. But you must walk. You will see the nations as I see the nations.

"The enemy has planted his toe within your heart. Now I am causing you to turn and look at him in the face, for it is only a toehold he has. He is trying to convince you that his foot is upon you. You have a word very near and nigh to you to speak. Speak the word and decree that his toehold from the past must go! Your foot now will go on top of his headship that has been ruling you."

A new song broke out:

There's a trembling before the army of the Lord,
A trembling before the army of the Lord.
The song is louder than terrible words.
A trembling goes before you.

It's a sound of trembling, of fury not hesitant,
A sound of trembling, of fury not hesitant.
Will you be known by your fury or hesitant?

It's the sound of the army whose King is the Lord.
This is the sound of the army whose King is the Lord.

Yes well it's this sort of thinking why kids are so messed up. They have no conscience because according to their parents there are no moral absolutes.

So I guess parents then should think twice before taking on this POV...yu think?

Well with so many wanting social & economic justice what is wrong about righteous justice that not only protects but is good for the SOUL!!!???

I know I get sarcastic but it wasn't alwasy so until I started seeing people gang up on those with an opposing view. Calling people hateful etc etc. Well there is enough prooff here to know that door swings BOTH ways.

I'm not this evil person you all insignuate I am, but I at least admit to my sarcasms...not so with the libs here. You also point fingers, complain, twist & distort what others are saying. You never take responsiblity for your own actions. That's why i say it's the lib way. You all do the same thing.

BTW... I also added those other definitions to explain that people can measure success & failures of actions taken. The proof is what is seen...outcomes etc. That can't be denied by calling people politically correct names.

Sound critical judgment does that...looks to see what works. That also takes on a "critical" eye. I'd rather that than take on a partisan POV...IE LIBERAL view that moves the mark of what it takes to be fair & balanced.

It seems as though many here don't want to give any thought to the consequences of their actions or how it affects the world around them. They seem to hate Christians for pointing out the obvious...that sin corrupts.

Admonish 1 a: to indicate duties or obligations to b: to express warning or disapproval to especially in a gentle, earnest, or solicitous manner
2: to give friendly earnest advice or encouragement to

Criticize 1 : to consider the merits and demerits of and judge accordingly : evaluate
2 : to find fault with : point out the faults of

synonyms - criticize , reprehend , censure , reprobate , condemn , denounce mean to find fault with openly.

Judgement 1 a: a formal utterance of an authoritative opinion b: an opinion so pronounced
2 a: a formal decision given by a court b (1): an obligation (as a debt) created by the decree of a court (2): a certificate evidencing such a decree
3 acapitalized : the final judging of humankind by God b: a divine sentence or decision ; specifically : a calamity held to be sent by God
4 a: the process of forming an opinion or evaluation by discerning and comparing b: an opinion or estimate so formed
5 a: the capacity for judging : discernment b: the exercise of this capacity
6: a proposition stating something believed or asserted

Here's the question... isn't admonishment better than destruction? Then why be critical of people for pointing that out? No one can say they didn't know.

Those who point fingers as a cop out to avoid reality are the ones who have no credibility. They still want people to think they know better when they really don't & they enter into deliberate deception too.

My point is God's admonishments are not like humananity's. He does it to keep us sensitized to evil & destructive forces in the world. Instead of people denying God they should have a fear of Him that will save their souls.

The discerning believer understands his own heart and takes steps to deal with conflict diplomatically.

And non-believers do not?

Why can't it just be people should do this?

There seems to be a tendency to say believers good non-believers bad.

There is no such thing. Even LIBS have their intolerances to deal with...their Christian hatreds for one.

It goes to the question tho...

How far is too far? When is enough, enough?

Um...bre...l...la

I'm a liberal, and I don't hate Christians (heck, I AM one!) so... guess there is such a thing!

As for my definition, open-minded, to me, means being willing and able to discuss any topic with anyone, even if you don't agree, and do it peacefully and, perhaps, learn some things as you also teach others. It's a great way to share humanity's bounty, IMHO.

Oh geez...as usual... Don't address the question.

This board is like a runaway train wreck ...it goes too fast for people or there wouldn't be such negativity. I wonder how many would actually share with other in their real lives what they say & do here? In any case...I thought this might raise the bar that is so needed.

Maybe a discussion about anger & frustration is in order along with it's consequences. This is what God's word says....

Cooler Heads

READ: Proverbs 17:22-28
A man of understanding is of a calm spirit. —Proverbs 17:27

A Christian I know was angry with someone at his workplace over a perceived injustice. A colleague listened to his grievance and sensed that his temper still ran high. He gave him this wise advice to consider before confronting those involved: “Cooler heads prevail.”

As we interact with others, disagreements are inevitable. The discerning believer understands his own heart and takes steps to deal with conflict diplomatically.

Proverbs 17:27 tells us: “He who has knowledge spares his words.” This means keeping in check a multitude of opinions that could ignite further anger in others. Someone who displays wisdom will think before speaking, and then will share only insights likely to be helpful.

The Proverbs also give us wise counsel on the emotional side of controlling our frustrations. “A man of understanding is of a calm spirit.” A mature person exhibits understanding by keeping cool in conflict. Problem-solving is enhanced by an even-tempered approach.

The next time you become angry, stop and prayerfully reflect for a moment. Ask God for a calm spirit and the right words to say.

Remember, cooler heads prevail. — Dennis Fisher

It's been a very stressful few weeks. It's hard enough to deal with parents old age but even more difficult when they are far away.

My mom has been through a very difficult time with losing her friend who was admitted into a nursing home & her greedy family who are unco-operative & sneaky.

It's a miracle that my mom even came back up to stay for what she thinks is for the holidays. She was admitted into the hospital here for a number of issues. She had a complete work up & they are regulating all her meds & probly putting her on an anti-depressant/anti-anxiety med.

I saw her tonight & she is in so much better a state of mind than she's been. We found a senior day care so she will be active during the day while we work & with the holidays coming there is plenty of parties, galas & local holiday shows to take her to.

Just spending some quality time with mom & there is nothing like the "mom" touch. You're never too old for that! drinker  drinker

I wonder how others fair with dealing with these sort of things?

ah yes...a " mom's "...touch...something I haven't been able to feel since 1991...she's sorely missed... ...so young lady...cherish every second...minute...hour, and day...that your mom's touch...is their...just for you...there's nothing quite like a mother...cross my heart...

Yes well we are going to keep her buzy. She needs to get out of the funk she was in. I told her tonight...when yu comin' over to make sauce? LOL Why should my sis get all the good cooking?

sauce ?...are you a fellow coutryman ?...( Italian )

LOL...that must be some sort of BUZZ word...sauce. I don't mean the kind one drinks either. LOL

YES!
