For all of you who believe in various prophecies, such as the dead sea scrolls and such, I ask you to take a look at the bible, in this case the king james version, at eh following verse...

Matthew 25:13

"watch therefore; for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the son of man cometh"


very plainly it states here, that we do not know when the son of man shall come, hence all these so-called "prophecies" of the world ending on such and such day at such and such time? hogwash.

So do you think the book of revelations is a lie?

It took me a few minutes to grasp what was being said.

QS, I think Daniel is referring to things that
are outside of the bible and not in agreement with it.

I do believe a person may be given a word of
prophecy for a specific purpose, but as for a prophecy about end times, unless it was in agreement with the bible I would tend to ignore it.

Perhaps he might explain to us a little further.

Well actually Britt...there are many more nuances to prophetic gifting that shouldn't be brushed off as something hoaky...especially by people who call thesmelves Christians.

We will never know all there is to know & expereince with the Lord in this life... that is the beauty of the personal relationship. The manifestations vary from person to person but we can all agree that God is who He says He is.

Yes I totally agree that no man knows but Jesus did talk about some hints of when it was coming.I think probably one of the best ways to know if it might be coming would be 7 years of peace between Israel and the Palistines.Until that happens I don't worry about it.I have noticed that the world seems to be more intolerant toward the Christians and it seems like we are losing more ground every year on what we can say and do.I know in Canada it is law that the churches can not speak badly about homosexuals as Canada considers this hate speach.At the rate this world is going I really can't see Christianity surviving another 100 years.It seems to me the fuse is lit as far as the rapture but how long till it happens is anyone's guess.

Indeed sometimes, it feels like the only hate speech that is allowed is that which is against Christians.

However, we are called to love everyone.

I believe the body (the church) of Christ will endure.
