Mark;
Although I certainly wasn't the one who reported in Lindy - I would be happy to not report any 'copyright' infringments under the terms you state.

However..I will turn that into the original person or in the case of some people on here - the original site, so they may contact you direct. In most case, their definition of "copyright" will drastically differ from your own. But that is okay, I am sure the lawyers will settle things out.....

Do so hate getting them involved - about the same as playing with snakes - but at least the snakes keeps some rodents away. Wow..wait....so do lawyers...good analogy.....

When the U.S. signs a treaty, its provisions carry the full force of U.S. law. One such treaty is the U.N. Convention Against Torture, of which the U.S. is a core signatory. As Philippe Sands writes in his new book “Torture Team:” Parties to the… Convention are required to investigate any person who is alleged to have committed torture. If appropriate, they must then prosecute — or extradite the person to a place where he will be prosecuted. The Torture Convention… criminalizes any act that constitutes complicity or participation in torture. Complicity or participation could certainly be extended not only to the politicians and but also the lawyers involved…”

George W. Bush has publicly confessed that he ordered torture, thus violating the Convention Against Torture. He, Cheney, Rumseld, Rice and the other Principals must therefore be arrested and, unlike the thousands of detainees kidnapped by the U.S. since 9/11, arraigned and placed on trial.

http://www.commondreams.org/archive/2008/04/30/8611/ The case sounds like a winner we even have a confessiondrinker

Please - march your whiny butt up to the White House, armed with this document, and perform a citizen's arrest.

Come on - you constantly spew your bile, let's see if you have the testicular diameter to do something about it. Cowboy up, and go corral him.

The Federal Reserve, which prints our money, is as federal as Federal Express

*sigh* If you are going to spread your uninformed FUD, at least try to get some of the easier facts straight.

The Federal Reserve Banks do not print money. Nor produce coin.

They place orders to the Bureau of Engraving and Printing for the paper money, and U.S. Mint for coinage.

Both are under the Dept. Of Treasury, currently run by a fellow named Paulson. Sec. Paulson does have the ability to reject a printing or minting order if he feels it inappropriate.

And contrary to popular conspiracy theorist beliefs - neither the Bureau or the Mint have machines 'running 24x7, making as much money as they can" Actually..that is pretty far from the truth. It is a pretty rare day they have ALL the presses running at one time.

*sigh* but then...that doesn't sound quite as inflammatory as your statement, huh ?

Am with you Moof. While I use Linux on my desktop at home - some programs only run *well* on a particular platform. So if you have to use those tools, you run the O/S you need.

Funny part - is I will use Wine to run some programs. Now, I won't try the more intense programs that Moof uses under Wine - but some of the other ones actually run faster and have less problems under Wine/Linux than native windows !! Always thought that funny.

UUmm...try a simpler solution

Another disk. Even new ones can be bad. And make sure you are using the right type of disk for your drive, ie DVD+

Also - if you have virus scanning or such, you may want to turn that off while you burn your disk, and leave your computer alone while it works on it.

You blame everything on Bush --just because you have that stuck in your craw, and can't get it off your brain.

Bush didn't cause the housing market mess - greedy people looking to make dollars hand over fist did that. Bush didn't force people to act insanely, having three way bidding wars for a house. Bush didn't force people to over-extend themselves in buying a house at the absolute maximum of what they could pay.

People got greedy, and didn't think before they acted.

Bush didn't drive up the oil prices. We do that, through use and speculation. Bush doesn't force you to drive an SUV, and America' poor energy policies have been lacking way before Bush took over. Bush isn't forcing futures and commodity buyers to drive up the price per barrel, which is the largest part of the increase. Hell, something obtuse happens, and you can watch the trading price climb several dollars, just on a rumor.

The only thing you have proven so far..is you incessant need to prove yourself an whiny one-note song.

Sorry to hear that.

Some just think - no big thing, it is just a dog.

No, you lose a family member and partner, even if it is a fur-faced one.

And somedays - the more I meet other people - the more I like my dog!

All of the good men?..I know that I have heard that all the good ones are dead, gay or taken..I'm starting to believe its true.laugh

Probably closer than you think. They do have two somewhat annoying qualities though.

One, they tend not to stick out. They don't ask out every available (or semi-available) woman, nor act as the term is used here - like a horndog.

Second - they tend to be clueless that you are really interested in them. And since they don't act like horndogs, they just go about life in a happy decent fashion. Which is probably REALLY frustrating for the woman who is trying to flirt or get his attention.

Ya just got to hunt them critters down, get them outta their dens and hidey holes.....

Oh...no apologies needed!

I am very happy to see some excellent alternatives come up to the MS-suite of things. Now, for those groaning about another Linux-fanboy ranting on MS - I intend to do none of that.

I tend to look at O/S as tools for a job. You don't bring a screwdriver to pound nails, or a wrench to install a light fixture. I will use whatever O/S - Linux, Windows, Mac - that best fits what I need.

Ubuntu, like Red Hat and SuSE, is positioning themselves to be a desktop linux distro. The other two want the server side. Fine by me, really - you can't do both well. Ubuntu shipped KDE 4.0, which Windows users will tend to find an easier transition.
The performance is much better than KDE 3.5, and well, it is a slick visual interface.

The basic things users will want to do 'out of the box' are there. OpenOffice for your Word, Excel, and Powerpoint type work, Firefox (please install no-script when you choose this) for Internet work, and Evolution for your email. Evolution is turning up to be on par with Outlook, which was and is Microsoft's 'killer combo' (Exchange and Outlook - like it or hate it, they did excellent job in the business arena with that)

Now...if they can increase the number of games (hey..we all like them!) that are available, and straighten out the DVD and MP3 support to make that monkey-simple - they will be able to challenge MS on the consumer desktop. Yes, I do realize I said MP3 support. For the Linux folks, you already know there are codecs MUCH better for sound quality and file size, but that is not as widely supported via players and such as MP3s.
