I am trying to burn this movie that is 700MB onto a disc that is 4.7GB, a two hour long disc. It is telling me that there is not enough room on the disc. This is after I waited almost 6 hours for the movie to burn. I guess my question is, is there a way to squish a movie sorta to speak? To make it fit on the disc.

There is no way to trim it to my knowledge. If I recall, about 700MB equals 1 GB. And there is not way to chop the movie up into 4 parts just to play it... Sorry about your luck (not to sound like a smart ass)

if 700MB equals only 1GB and I am using a 4.7gig disc, then should it not fit?

Nero is not the best program for such things..Ive always had the same problems with it giving me the same error despite having plenty of space on the disk..
dont know why..maybe a bug in the software?

Sorry... been a long day and I misread the question. Typical guy here, not paying close enough attention to details

You are trying to burn it as VIDEO, rather than DATA. When you burn as VIDEO, the burning software will convert your video into the DVD format, which increases the size on disc. To work around this, you can find a different software to do the conversion more efficiently. Or you can change the resolution. Or you can cut out the credits. Or you can get software to split the file up and burn it to two discs. Or you can burn it as DATA and get a DVD player that will play the file's format. Usually cheap, off-name DVD players will play more formats than expensive DVD players.

I guess the movie is .avi , spidercmb a dvd-video doesn`t take a 4.7 gb blank dvd , maximum 3 gb , whispertoascream try like this :
open nero start smart < it should be in Start , All programs >, look for a cd/dvd option < up and middle > , click on DVD , then in the left click on Nero Express , then click Data DVD , then click Add < browse your pc for the movie > , click Next , change the name of the disc if you want , then click burn and you should be done.

No true, the conversion is based on the resolution, fps and length of video. You you don't know the FPS, resolution or length of the video, so assuming to know what the maximum size of the converted video would be is pointless. If she is getting an error that says "there is not enough room on the disc" then I would assume that "there is not enough room on the disc".

UUmm...try a simpler solution

Another disk. Even new ones can be bad. And make sure you are using the right type of disk for your drive, ie DVD+

Also - if you have virus scanning or such, you may want to turn that off while you burn your disk, and leave your computer alone while it works on it.

Sorry I have not responded. I have tried multiple discs. I just do not understand. It will fit on my 2gig flash drive but NOT on a 4 gig DVD? This is not the only movie that I have had trouble with. I have these movies I would like to get off of my computer but need to burn them first.
