It's shocking how many people would do away with the bill of rights. Getting them off the streets is one thing, but to deny them their right to life and humane treatment would make us just as bad as them;^] I dont think that th way I feel makes me anywhere close to being as bad as a CHILD RAPIST!! And while I would agree with your feelings - again - we as a society must demonstrate that we are (lack of a better term) more evolved than those who would do such a despicable act. I think what was meant by the statement though - is just because a person did something heinous - like rape a young child - we judge him according to his/her crime, and sentence them to an appropriate consequence. We do not judge them out of revenge, or blind hate because of the crime. Yes - that means some people are not appropriate on the jury. I personally should never be on a jury hearing a child abuse case of any form - I could never judge that person dispassionately. Several folks here have daughters who are the victims of rapists. Do they have the right to feel hatred and desire to have the criminal responsible pay with their lives? Well - if anyone does - I would imagine they do. However - I would not see them as suitable on a jury for such a case either, as they could not act dispassionately - and for understandable reasons. |

I would have to disagree with the topic's main post.
*IF* you are a murderer - society should take your life. You took one from society. There should be the initial trial, an automatic review if the death penalty is invoked, and a third final review to make sure the first two did their jobs as they should. At the end of that third check - the sentence is carried out. This shouldn't take 10 to 20 years. *IF* you are a rapist - society should determine your consequence. Violent one probably deserve to die, other than that..jury of peers. *IF* you are a serial child molester - my personal feelings is that you prey on weaker humans - and should probably be put to death. *IF* you commit a crime that removes the rights of life or liberty from another person in society - society should judge you and sentence you to a consequence - not play out the sense of revenge. As a society - we should use the legal system to try and determine the truth of each person. Unfortunately - there is no way presently to be 100% sure each and every time - so we must do the best we can to *as a society* dispassionately judge those accused and make the best choice we can. FearAnd - I agree - there are mistakes made, and since humans will always judge humans (and should, since we alone have the capacity for reason and compassion) it will likely always be flawed. But that does not mean we should halt all processes of removing life and liberty from those who would do so to others. The other option - is anarchy. While some would prefer this, I doubt most would find it a healthy society. |

Spyware - Spybot S&D. Use the resident shield on Windows machines. If Firefox is workable for you, between the two you should have little worries.
AV - As several folks point out - AVG, and Avast are very good for this. Comodo is good as well, but would pick one of the first two. For those needing high volume scanning and such - ClamAV and Kasprsky are the two heavy weights there - such as SMTP servers. Run both and you pretty much have about the best you will get. |

Smoked salmon mixed with whole wheat pasta, spinach, and cherry tomatoes sliced in half.
Cook the pasta up, heat the rest in some olive oil, sweet basil leaves and oregano. Drain pan of excess oil, mix everything together. Add wine of your choice - but chardonnay worked well. |

like i said it is not the law it is the no questions part that is in question with me I can go with that - and would hope the cops do at least a cursory check on things to make sure what you say happened is plausible and correct to the best of their ability. |

To any law, there will be unintended and very unfortunate loopholes and exceptions.
The law that says we must always stop at red lights is pretty much held up as a good thing, however, it does slow ambulances down trying to get through city traffic. However - in your specific example - yes, there is a very good chance the person will get away with it, under "Make My Day" laws. but - illegal or not - you are still a corpse. |

Okay...not really 'bumper sticker" but really cool
Researched some history on WWII aircraft, and ran across a B-24d bomber. Have a female friend with a *slut* red CJ. I am going to steal it here shortly and have the pin up girl painted on the side. Fitting - her Dad flew B-24s, and is of course, still her hero. The pin-up girl is of course a busty leggy woman with red hair, like my friends. Oh..the name of the plane? (look it up) Strawberry B*itch |

Just my personal opinion here:
I think the law is good and valid. IF, in this case, Griffin did shoot the dog with a pellet gun - it still does not give the right to interrogate him on the matter by bringing a club and bashing his front door glass in. And honestly - I *would* prefer to be judged by 12, than carried by 6. |

Check here if you need the alternate desktop CD. This CD does not include the Live CD, instead it uses a text-based installer. I believe Ubuntu gives the option.... |
