good lord go watch Joe wilsons war and get a basic edication on who channeled the money to fund them and yes thats is were they got there start so what is your point?

Wow. So some members of what is now the Taliban were involved in the Afghan resistance which was funded by the US means the US funded AQ?

Lemme guess. Joe Wilson's war, a propaganda piece by an ex-Clintoneista, is some of your "research." I'll pass.

Might as well get some "research" from Sandy Berger.

Its rather funny though in a way that america has been the only nation found guilty of state sponcored terrorism bythe world court yet we blather on and on about Al qaida

dude you are beyond help and only polute the thread with your nonsence. yes america was founjd guilty by the world court of state sponcored terrorism by supporting the contras against Nicaragua. the securty resilution that followed was vetoed by the United states. go team. what is the defiition of state sponocred terrorism you might ask? It comes down to the statement that terrorism is the calculated threat or use of violence with the aim of intimidating and provoking fear and damage in order to achieve political, religious, ideological and other goals, typically directed against civilian populations. america has been guilty of this all over the world and here we are blathering about how great our country is and how terrible those terrorists are. It seems it isnt me who is in a massive state of denial.

Nicaragua dealt with the problem of terrorism in exactly the right way. It followed international law and treaty obligations. It collected evidence, brought the evidence to the highest existing tribunal, the International Court of Justice, and received a verdict -- which of course the U.S. dismissed with contempt. The court called upon the United States to terminate the crime and pay substantial reparations. The U.S. responded by immediately escalating the war new funding was provided. In fact, the U.S. official orders shifted to more extreme terrorism. The Contra forces were encouraged to attack "soft targets," as they were called, or undefended civilian targets, and avoid combat with the Nicaraguan army.

It continued until 1990. Nicaragua followed all the right procedures, but of course, couldn't get anywhere because the U.S. simply did not adhere to it. In that case, there was no need to carry out a police investigation. The facts were clear.

god bless america

And here we are staying on topic again...

The UN as a whole is useless. Geneva Convention violations around the world and the only ones held accountable are the US. It's a hamstring. That's all it is.

Where was the World Court when Nick Berg was beheaded? Oh that's right. It wasn't the US. Not a big deal.

What a joke.

I have a migraine from trying to decipher madisonman's blurbs. I do wish he would go back to gradeschool and learn PROPER grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization and go see a doctor for his apparent (at least in my attempted comprehension of what he is attempting to relate) ADD - Attention Deficit Disorder. This man is all over the board, never seems to be able to stick to one train of thought at a time, cannot focus long enough to answer a simple question that has been posed to him numerous times, and he absolutely MAKES NO SENSE AT ALL. How can anyone have an intelligent conversation with the mess that he writes?

Now, in regard to the United Nations (World Court?), my dear opponents, I know this will just burst your little bubble as this will reveal that Al-Q DEFINITELY and BEYOND A SHADOW OF DOUBT had direct contact and dealings with Sadaam Hussein.

Here goes:

Oil-for-Food Programme

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Oil-for-Food Programme, established by the United Nations in 1995 (under UN Security Council Resolution 986) and terminated in late 2003, was intended to allow Iraq to sell oil on the world market in exchange for food, medicine, and other humanitarian needs for ordinary Iraqi citizens without allowing Iraq to rebuild its military.

The programme was introduced by United States President Bill Clinton's administration in 1995, as a response to arguments that ordinary Iraqi citizens were inordinately affected by the international economic sanctions aimed at the demilitarisation of Saddam Hussein's Iraq, imposed in the wake of the first Gulf War. The sanctions were discontinued in 2003 after the U.S. invasion of Iraq, and the humanitarian functions turned over to the Coalition Provisional Authority.

As the programme ended, there were revelations of corruption involving the funds:

Re: Oil-for-Food Programme:

The Oil-for-Food Programme was instituted to relieve the extended suffering of civilians as the result of the comprehensive sanctions on Iraq from the UN, following Iraq's invasion of Kuwait in August 1990. (madisonman, did you read this?)

UN Secretary General Kofi Annan:

Starting in April 2004,[6] accusations were made that skimmed profits were being used to buy influence at the UN and with Kofi Annan himself.

Used to finance Al-Qaeda: cough, cough, cough....... I seem to have caught someone's cold.

The scandal engulfing the United Nations Procurement Department and the Oil-for-Food Programme involved Al-Qaeda (cough cough, please excuse my coughing, terrible cold) finance operations. FOX News (hello you FOX news haters) broke the story that Alexander Yakovlev, a Russian official in the UN Procurement Department, was involved; he later resigned and pled guilty to corruption charges. One link was to Ahmed Idris Nasreddin, a man designated as a terrorist (cough cough)financier by the US and the UN. The UN has named Nasreddin as a man "belonging to or affiliated with Al Qaeda." (Achoo, cough cough). Petra Navigation Group was a company that was on the blacklist of firms blocked from doing business with the U.S. for sanctions-busting activities designed to help Saddam's regime. [13]

Potential Annan link:

On June 14, 2005, two 1998 memos surfaced that appeared to link Kofi Annan to Cotecna Inspection S.A.

US Senate investigations:

US Senator Norm Coleman called for Kofi Annan to resign over the scandal and held a number of hearings on the matter.

Kojo Annan, Kofi's son:

Cotecna. However, Volker concluded in the October 27, 2005 IIC report that “the audit did not report any deficiencies in Cotecna’s inspections”[10]. Cotecna paid Kojo Annan, Kofi Annan's son, consulting fees until November 2003. Volcker said that future reports would deal with questions regarding Kojo Annan. [34]

My oh my, I wonder (madisonman, symbelmyne, draqoness ((or whatever she calls herself)), and the rest of the know-it-alls) who has egg on their face now?

Lindyy,(and the rest of the like-minded camp)
so, because someone speaks out against the president's policies that makes them anti-american? because someone is against the invasion and subsequent massacre of innocent people of Iraq that makes them pro terrorism? because someone doesn't follow blindly the same religious dogmas you do that makes them anti-god?

Your right-wing, conservative, black and white thinking has ripped apart the US...this "You're either with us or your against us" mentality makes it impossible to have any kind of discussion or debate. You call me names, I call you names, you tell me Im wrong I tell you you're wrong...so? What gets accomplished?

I am a radical, left-wing, socialist, jew...(waiting for the lightening bolt of god to strike me down....nope,.. still here)I question EVERYTHING...take nothing on blind faith, make up my own mind about world events after listening and observing all sides of the issues, and Im not afraid to go against my own if I think they are full of crap...

I may have differing viewpoints, but that doesn't mean Im wrong, or evil or hateful or godless...these are just conveniant lables you use to dehumanize me and put me on the "other" side. We are all the same, we want to live in peace, dont want to harm others, want to be left alone to worship the god of our understanding in our own way, want the best for our children...see? I bleed red just like you...set aside your prejudices open your mind, its never too late to learn something new.

Spoken like a true liberal. When confronted by the truth, in direct contradiction to what you believe, always attack the person presenting the facts and avoid the facts altogether.

As I recall, we went to Iraq looking for weapons of mass destruction. Oh, that's right, Bush lied about that. If it was a lie, Clinton started that lie when he was president as was pointed out on the first page of this thread. I seem to recall that Clinton signed an executive order stating that Saddam Hussein needed to be dealt with.

Although you made an attempt to present yourself as an intelligent, bipartisan commentator, you reek of hatred and total ignorance of facts. You wallow in your own pig sty of pessimistic critic of others.

You, a far left liberal narcisist, use your style of writing to try to paint over your own venomous lies that you ovewhelmingly spew out of your own mouth 24/7.

Are you such a narcisist that your brain cannot comprehend that a simple, normal, common everyday human being is quite competent to figure out the facade that you attempt to hide behind?

Sweet Jesus - madisonman - do not take Christians' Lord and Saviour's name in vain, that is if you are able rid yourself of your narcisism long enough to be able to accomplish this simple feat of respect for the Lord Jesus Christ, who, fortunately for you, came to this earth to forgive us our sins.

Lindyy..... I cut/pasted part of your quote to Madisonman below,

"If you hate the United States of America and its leaders and military so much, my dear, I would be elated to help you pack your bags, even pay for your airfare, and direct you to a country that you obviously would be overcome with joy to live in. Say, perhaps Sudan."

================================================================================================================================

I hate to chide you after reading your wonderful posts, but you are being very selfish. Pleaseeeeeeeeee let the rest of us help Madisonman pack his bags, chip in for his airfare, and boot his butt out of this country. You have no right to reserve that pleasure for yourself.

I was hoping to see some interesting points Today is the primary in my state and I am still unsure at this point what I plan to do at the polls Each administration has it's good and bad points But I am in fear for a lot of folks including myself when I see where all this is headed. I live in a an economicaly depressed area and see more and more folks struggling with the day to day needs. I am not sure what the answer is. I know that pointing fingers and name calling never got anyone anywhere and I wish that the two parties could stop the bickering and start focusing on what both parties agree on We all want education for our children a better way for the elderly to get the medication that they need A safer world for all of us to live in we just can't seem to agree on how to get there Seems to me that if we would just stop some of the madness and start focusing on the solutions it would make life much better for we the people

Leahmarie:

I am sorry, I apologize for not including you and the rest of our patriotic citizens in sending madisonman on his long anticipated journey into 'never never land.' Hey, it just might be possible that if we form a committee, we just might come up with enough money to send the other hateful, non-patriotic, hate America and what our country stands for - to their evil pleasure resort of their choice!

You know Leahmarie, I was not fond of Clinton, but when he was our President I gave him respect, that does not mean I did not speak out on what I thought was negligent actions on his part, but I did it within the realm of respect, if for no other reason than for the sake of our beloved USA.

I believe it was dragoness who chirped that she demanded to know where Bin Laden is. For the love of God, Pakistan's leaders cannot even locate him, and he is allgedly 'holed' up somewhere along the border of Pakistan, in terrain that is even hard for Pakistan's own military to navigate in.

Well, if John McCain gets elected President, all the left wingers and America haters had better find a hole to hide in because "the fur will start flying" for sure. McCain was (as I am sure you know, but I am posting for the benefit of this posts's 'liberal left wing blurbies' was, in the Viet Nam war, a POW (prisoner of war for the blurbies who are uneduated on this facet)for 6 1/2 years. McCain surely knows how to deal with the demented evil minds of terrorists. The terrorists are just biting at the bit for President Bush's term as President to end as they fear him. Have you noticed that we have not been attacked once since President Bush put homeland security into effect and stayed the course regardless of what the blurbies spewed out of their mouth? The terrorists cannot wait for a socialist, liberal democrat to take office so that their rein of terror against the USA may begin again. Oh, yes, we should sit down and "chat" with them, try to rationalize with them, offer them an afternoon of tea and crumpets, that will work every time- NOT!! The only thing the terrorists and their supporters understand is beheadings, mass murdering, rapes, continual bloodshed, mass graves, plastic shredders, chemical genocide.

Leahmarie - Thank you for speaking up!!
