I love British humor, so I prefer that.
Some American shows are funny just the same. But I really don't like stuff like standup comedians Chris Rock, Kenny Something.

May I ask why you dont like standup comedians, madam?

Some I can appreciate, but most get very aggressive and rude. I just don't like the vibe and attitude of Chris Rock and that Kenny dude (cannot remember his last name, he's rather famous in the US). There used to be another black standup comedian who was good in movies, godawful as a standup.
I find such people very off-putting.
I've seen some Denis Leary which was great.
I suppose I don't vibe with African American standup humor.

There was no "African American" in the op.. Just an observation.smokin

To me, not much modern american humour is funny at all, and if you need canned laughter to tell you when the joke was, that's not funny, just weird.

Old B and W TV shows were funny, like the 3 stooges, car 54, and comedy movies, but most of it is stupid and un-funny to me, especially the 'sit-coms'.

British: Carry on gang, Goon Show, Python, and early stuff is very funny still, though dated and corny. Peter Cook and Dudley Moore as Derek and Clive, Morecom and Wise, Dave Allen, Two Ronnies, so many more, actually funny without a laugh track needed.
I haven't watched anything recently though. The British Prime Minister seems funny, but I'm sure it's a ploy.

Which is your preference?
English humor or American humor?
Why?

Honestly, I dont get the british humor. Since American humor is easy for me, I like it

Hmmm, what is African humor? I probably would not get it. But I would try...

As far as I know, it is joking on ourselves. Or it might be a copycat:smile:

That sounds like New Zealand humor. We laugh at ourselves, because we can.
Actually right now there is a debate on should the French have used our Haka to protest.
For us, in New Zealand, the Haka is very personal.

I take it the Haka is what the AllBlacks do before they play. Whathave the french gotto do with it?

Well they enjoy diving there...port of Auckland particularly

I enjoy Shameless and The Office, but they just don't transfer to the American humour... Will and Grace is funny though..

OT. I prefer English comedians but the American sense of humour rocks.

I'm just not keen on the format.

I've gotta say, humor or humour, either way.

"Are You Being Served?" Was a show on when I was younger. Like 8 years of age, along with Monty Python.
I still get to catch Monty Python on BBC America.
The Graham Norton show cracks me up too.

I like sitcom's here in the states, but some are just not funny, no matter how much lack of writing went into anything.

I can't make that choice.

Red Skelton, Jerry Lewis, Tim Conway, Eddie Murphy, Bill Cosby, Richard Pryor, Mel Brooks, Lewis Black, Robin Williams and George Conway are just a few very funny people from America.

But then the British gave us gems like Red Dwarf (brilliant comedy), Benny Hill, Rowan Atkins (Mr Bean), Peter Sellers and Simon Pegg to name a few.

I get true belly laughs from all of them.
I personally find 'Mr. Bean' the funniest creature on earth ;-)

Since I grew up there of course German humor and then American (excludes most modern sitcoms and standup comedy and the like). British - yeah like Patricia Routledge, Mr. Bean (is a category by himself - LOL)

- Russian humor can be a bit dry at times and hard to get, unless you understand the culture.

'E's not pinin'! 'E's passed on! This parrot is no more! He has ceased to be! 'E's expired and gone to meet its maker! 'E's a stiff! Bereft of life, 'e rests in peace! If you hadn't nailed 'im to the perch 'e'd be pushing up the daisies! 'E's metabolic processes are now 'istory! 'E's off the twig! 'E's kicked the bucket, 'e's shuffled off its mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisible!! THIS...is an EX-PARROT!!
