Valentine's Day is less than 3 weeks away and I don't have a date! tears

Kidding... I don't, but there's still time bigsmile

What's your ideal Valentine's date? Do you have a Valentine... either currently or someone in mind? love

Guys... What are some of the things you've given a sweetheart on Valentine's Day? Is it just another day to you?

Ladies... What do you like to receive on Valentine's Day? Is this day important to you?

Me... I love chocolate biggrin The date... Anything that he does, above and beyond normal daily stuff, to make the day a little extra special is what matters to me most

From Smithsonian magazine:

Valentine’s Day, in fact, originated as a liturgical feast to celebrate the decapitation of a third-century Christian martyr, or perhaps two.

Answer: Not if decapitation is involved. scared

Honestly I'm not into the make yourself go broke cause it is Valentines Day thing~~

Yes it is a day I do remember I buy my grand kids chocolates & a card and use to do it with my kids as well. Just to remind them it is a day to show your loved ones you care..They carry that tradition on with the one they are with as well as their kids..

Myself if I get a $2 piece of Chocolate for I don't need the card or flowers I'm a happy camper.. It is the thought.. And yes my kids still text me on Valentines to say Happy Valentines and the grand kids come by to give me something small.. to just say I love ya~~

So many have made it a money making day that it takes away from what it really means..

As far as dating someone and expecting them to give me something or take me out I could careless I would rather just have some special alone time with them... cook me a home cooked meal and you have my attention lol..

I follow a low carb diet .. if any man gives me chocolates .. I make him eat the box laugh laugh

Dinner on a secluded beach with stars and a fire is all I need for Valentine's Day love love

I agree TxsGal... it's become way too commercialized, like Christmas.

I'm the same way, basically feel the same way with dating... I'm not into going out and spending a ton of money. Just doing anything that makes it a little extra special means more to me than elaborate stuff. The home cooked me would be more my kind of thing too.

If he wants to get me something, my favorite chocolate bar would be better than those big boxes of chocolates... half of them don't get ate anyways.

When my boys were in school, I'd make heart shaped sugar cookies and help them with valentine's day cards... simple and sweet!

I don't mind the chocolate but it has to be a small piece of it... I'm just now shedding all that fudge I ate on the Island slaphead laugh

I like going out to a nice restaurant . I do have a couple of men in mind but doesn't mean they will escort me on that day.

I go out alot anyway . I have an activity parnter had two but one dropped out.
Both the guys were friends. One got jealous. laugh

I am seeking , a relationship, I got spoiled by a couple of Ex's. So a date for Valentine's day isn't that important.

Hi river, as I don't have a special man in my life right now, Valentine's Day will just be another day for me. But I hope your special someone finds you before Valentine's Day... or on Valentine's Day... but, if he came after Valentine's Day, better ask him where the heck he was on Valentine's Day! lol

I love receiving red roses on Valentine's Day... or any day, just because. love

happy waving

I have issue with Valentine's Day for a few reasons.

a) There's the commercialism of it all, so disingenuous and so soon after we've had our pockets picked for Xmas!

b) This great day for lovers but why is it that men have once again been placed in a position where we're expected to make so much effort, whilst women enjoy the spoils? There's more than one prize in a good relationship.

c) If you feel the need to make a grand gesture on this particular day, you've probably been lacking in showing affection the rest of the year. Up your game! Likewise, if you feel your partner should make an effort, why for goodness sake are you still with them?

d) Nobody loves me sad sad sad

I hate the commercialism of the day. Absolutely despise it. However, I do love the feeling of the day. I still remember the happy feeling when you ask the girl you like "to be your Valentine" and she said yes. It was an awesome feeling then and having a woman who wants to be your Valentine now is still kinda awesome.

Lets see, I would take you to Daffin's Chocolate Kingdom in Sharon, PA and we would do the kid in a candy store thing.

Where chocolate reigns supreme.
http://www.daffins.com/home/chocolate-kingdom
Unbelievable sights await you as you visit our fantasyland of chocolate characters.

This unique one of a kind attraction includes a 400 pound chocolate turtle, a 125 pound chocolate reindeer, and a 75 pound chocolate frog.

The kingdom also includes chocolate castles, a train, a village, and a Ferris wheel that will fascinate and delight all who enter.

There's even a wall of bulk candy to sample!
Lots of old time favorites!

I don't celebrate death and violence, so this isn't a day I celebrate.

The business industry has found a way to commercialize everything to death... it's sad.

I love that feeling too. Before David posted the link that explained the origins of Valentine's Day I saw it as a romantic kind of day. I remember when I was younger and a guy asked me to be his Valentine and it was an awesome feeling.

I wouldn't mind having that feeling again... that to me would be even better than chocolate.
