"He's Just Not Into You" , which has taken me a few days to get through as I only could stand small doses of it. I kept telling myself that I wanted to see if the movie was as bad as the book, it was worse I think .....

Lately it seems the newer movies have been crapfests.
Low production standards, bad acting and bad stories.

A few noteworthy ones:

Artemis Fowl (2020) f shaw c farrell
Fantasy film geared at preteen and early teens.
Closer to a Harry Potter movie than a LOTR film.

Sniper 8: Assassin's End (2020) t berenger
Watchable sniper movie. Most of the Sniper movie series is watchable.
I liked it.

Force of Nature (2020) m gibson
A badly written cop movie in which Mel Gibson has a minor role.
Watchable but lame.

Just finished rewatching The X-Files Season One. Started Season Two.

Rewatched some oldies and some recents.
Excalibur (1981)
The Babysitter (2017)

Both Independence Day Films
Altered (2006)
Fifth Element (1997)
The Hunt (2020)
Measure for Measure (2019)
Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise Skywalker (2019)
National Lampoons Animal House (1978)
The Naked Gun 2½: The Smell of Fear (1991)
Airplane II: The Sequel (1982)
Hancock (2008)

....

I feel it's been like that for quite some time now. There's the occasional good movie, but most what comes out is crap.
Best thing to do is re-watch a good series so you don't have to spend ages to find a movie that's sort of worth your time or end up watching one that isn't worthwhile at all.
I think it'll get worse for a while as due to the crisis less new stuff will have been made.

Yeah, I load up a bunch and watch at least half if I even get that far.
Lately tho, I stop watching within 5 minutes of the title screen.
The pandemic is certainly having a bad effect on the quality of the new releases.
Straight to dvd usually denotes a poorly made movie but I've seen some that 'look' like they will be decent and they're worse than a syfy original.

Yup, and we will get a hiatus in most running series too as they couldn't shoot for months.
I've re-watched "The Closer" and now am watching "Major Crimes". That I've never seen as after the Closer I didn't like it. But actually it is much better.
I'm nearing the end, if you watch as much as we do it goes fast, haha. Not sure yet what I'm going to watch next.
But overall the quality of A movies that come out is crap. Barely a handful a year that I find really captivating.

Twelve Chairs: Mel Brooks.

In post-revolutionary Russia, a former aristocrat (Ron Moody) discovers that his mother-in-law sewed the family jewels into one of a set of twelve dining chairs. This begins a search across Russia to track them down, along with a rogue priest (Dom Deluise) and a charismatic conman (Frank Langella).
Not laugh out loud funny but consistently entertaining and brilliant.

Kind Hearts and Coronets: Dennis Pryce as the son of a former aristocratic woman disowned by the D'ascoigne family for marrying beneath her, who vows to inherit the Dukedom by murdering all those who stand between him and the Title.
A gentle comedy with Alex Guinness in a bravura performance as all eight of the D'ascoines to be eliminated.

The Color out of Space: a very recent adaptation of the H.P.Lovecraft story with Nicholas Cage and Joely Richardson.
A surprisingly good and enjoyable version of the story. Didn't expect too much from it but was favourably impressed. It's worth four stars on Amazon.
