I feel even excessive use of alcohol can alter a personality and make people act unpredictably. If I like someone, I'd rather they stay the person I like. Then there's the illegal thing. I have respect for the law, even if I don't always agree with it.

personally, I have never used an illegal drug, and I have no intention of starting now. I would never date a person who uses illegal drugs, pot being a possible exception. If I meet a woman who uses pot, I would want for her to honor my wishes and not use it around me. I would keep my distance from militant pot smokers whose mission in life it is to try to convince everyone they meet to smoke it.

rather than the legality of the drug, a better question is....would i date someone who abuses drugs ? for example : oxycontin is legal when prescribed, but an abuser, when crushing the legal tablet into a powder and heating it in a spoon to liquid form for injection intravenously is no different than an illegal heroin user as the effects of both are essentially the same... so for myself, i wouldn't date a drug abuser..legal or illegal

As long as I was confident that she would not use them while bearing children, then I would not have problem with it in and of its self. What would be more important to me is why she was using them and if they were destructive to her life (most illegal drugs are destructive no matter how they are used). I have heard that emotional love can be stronger than drugs or the law.

Hummm I have seen those that abuse things that are legal to the point I would not date them.. And I'm talking liquor...I'm one that loves a drink now and then just to sit back and just relax... You have legal prescription drugs they get from their doctor that they abuse... to me this is no different then a illegal drug user abusing the drugs... I have yet to see one that smokes marijuana to the point they could not function.. And it depends on what state you live in if it is considered legal or not... I have ended relationships where the drinking was excessive. Some just don't know a limit... But honestly I have seen drug users that do it in moderation and the one they was with had no idea.. Sounds wild but it can happen... Just cause thy use drugs legal or illegal does not mean they can not function... jmo Not saying I would date a pill popper just saying at times you have no clue at times what a person might be doing some hid it very well.. As far as those that smoke trying to convince others they should.. Not sure about most but I do know that those I know that smoke never try to convince anyone to smoke..They may offer due to they are not sure if one smokes or not if one says no then they never ask again...

I have dated someone who smoked weed, only occasionally, and rarely around me. I would date that 'illegal drug' user before I would date someone who abuses alcohol(a legal substance)
