Topic: Why my God is not jealous... | |
---|---|
Simply put... jealousy stems from insecurity and or the desire to have what one does not have...
God is all...has all...and always will be...EVERYTHING... No jealousy required! |

==============================================================
qanna' (jealous) means: Not bearing any rival. ============================================================== ============================================================== Jealous: Having to do with or arising from feelings of envy, apprehension, or bitterness: ============================================================== Jealous in the Bible means that God will not share what belongs to Him. Jealous in reference to God doesn't mean He wants what He doesn't have, it means He is going to keep what belongs to Him. |

A God with no rivals has no cause to be jealeous.
However, if a god who is jealeous of Its possessions, creates in Its image, it doesn't show much forsight, when It then dictates that the inherant quality of jealeousy is a sin. Even a creature as lowely as a human understands the duplicity of Do as I say, not as I do. |

GOD'S WORD® Translation (©1995) If you do, the LORD your God will become very angry with you and will wipe you off the face of the earth, because the LORD your God, who is with you, is a God who does not tolerate rivals. King James Bible (For the LORD thy God is a jealous God among you) lest the anger of the LORD thy God be kindled against thee, and destroy thee from off the face of the earth. American Standard Version for Jehovah thy God in the midst of thee is a jealous God; lest the anger of Jehovah thy God be kindled against thee, and he destroy thee from off the face of the earth. Redykeulous,
============================================================== However, if a god who is jealeous of Its possessions, creates in Its image, it doesn't show much forsight, when It then dictates that the inherant quality of jealeousy is a sin. ============================================================== Jealousy? A sin? Where? Where is that described as a sin? The desire to keep those things which belong to you, how is that a sin? Would you be right to be jealous if you found out your significant other was commiting adultry? Yes, you would. Because if two people have dedicated themselves to each other, jealousy is NORMAL when one is unfaithful. So if you say "I belong to the LORD" and then worship other gods, God has every right to be angry and jealous. If you don't worship God, then God doesn't get jealous when you worship other gods. You haven't said "I belong to you." This is the difference between "reasoning" and "rationalization". When you reason, you look for evidence and follow it to a conclusion. When you rationalize, you start with a conclusion and look for evidence to support the conclusion. I think that anyone who reads the Bible with an open mind will be forced to accept that God's position is righteous. When someone promises to serve God and God promises to serve them and then the person worships other gods instead, God clearly has a right to be angry and jealous. |

adj4u,
Thank you for quoting so many different translations of the Bible, but if you look at the words, you will find that covet and jealous aren't the same in Hebrew. chamad (covet): To desire qanna' (jealous): Not bearing any rival. Those who are saved are called "The Bride of Christ". If we are married in spirit to Jesus, then why would Jesus accept us worshipping another god is spirit? Even if that god is money or women or power, God does not accept any rivals for our devotion. Words have meanings. |

adj4u,
That's the English definitions. The translators of the Bible got as close as they could with the existing words in English. I keep showing you the Hebrew definitions. It is not reasonable to look at the accurate definitions and deny them and continue insisting you are right. You are rationalizing, when you should be reasoning. |

adj4u,
============================================================== if you can pick and choose why cant i ============================================================== You sound like a child. "Why can't I do what I want!" Let me explain the simple and extremely obvious difference. I took my definitions based on the original Hebrew texts. You took your definitions from English translations of Hebrew words. If you are interested in learning the truth, go to the original source. Look in a Hebrew to English dictionary and you will see why your definitions are so flawed. Also, you will find that "qanna'" is only used when discussing God. "qin'ah" is closer to what English speakers think of as "jealous". |
