It was suggested I put up a separate post to gather information from all the Mingle2 members who would like to meetup with other members. I'm actually looking forward to one but we need more input from those parties who would be interested. Here's what we would like to know:

1. Would you be interested in meeting up in Austin since it is very centrally located, lots to do, lots of accommodations etc.

2. When would you like the meet to happen this year? May, June, or July? Please also give a preferable weekend date as well.

3. Would you be willing to share rides and costs for accommodations with others?

4. Would you prefer a State Park? (please remember that in State Parks in Texas alcoholic beverages are no longer allowed)

5. Would you prefer some resort or other hotel/motel accommodations?

Please get back with me via this thread as I need feedback as promptly as possible. Thanks for your input and let's see how we can make this thing happen!!! Missy

Yes, I am interested. I would be willing to travel to Austin and would share rides/costs with others. Probably not a state park as I assure you, there will be alcohol involved. June and July will be too hot to really do any activities outside. May is usually a busy time for people with graduations, etc. Perhaps may need to look at September/October but see what others have to say regarding dates. I definitely can't do the first weekend in May or over Memorial Day weekend.

Thanks for you prompt reply Husker. Unfortunately at this late date making reservations for Memorial Day in Austin is not really possible as there is a waiting list for that date. The only possible option for that is maybe renting an entire house for that weekend but I doubt anyone wants to put out that kind of money (Austin is extremely expensive in this area). We would have needed to start making plans for that specific weekend a few months ahead of schedule. I did think of graduations, but I have noticed that lots and lots of high schools in Texas don't schedule graduation till the 1st or 2nd week of June. We will wait and get more opinions on this. Also with all the cool weather we have been having in April when it is usually warming up nicely, it's possible June might still be in the running, without it being too hot. Keep in mind we would pick a place with plenty of trees and a barbeque pit outside as a priority. I also am willing to share expenses or maybe help someone else who would otherwise not be able to come. We'll wait for some more input, but thank you so much for your contribution so far. Maybe it will light a fire under some others!!!

Maybe my post was confusing. I was saying I was not able to do memorial weekend. Anyhow hope to hear from others what they would like.

Myself May is out for me my daughter is due, then it's mothers day and memorial day all in that month.. June two of my weekends are already booked.. Humm July again two of my weekends are booked...


Aug -Oct last few years are cooler then June & July. But still warm enough to enjoy stuff outside...just saying...

Well that's great! I have a extra air mattress someone can use also.

@Moe -- we need some input from you as to when you would be able to attend a meetup. Then we'll figure out what's works best for the most people. We can also consider later on, like TxGal said and do it in early September. Labor day holiday is around that time, so more people who work might be able to make it. We're off to a good start discussing so let's keep the suggestions coming in.

There is also the possibility that others from other states might want to join us as well, which I think would be very nice!

Okay Moe, we'll keep that in mind. Off-season might be more suitable in your case which would mean September/October would be better because rates drop drastically on room rates. Thanks for the input Moe!

I'm from out of state but would love to attend a meet-up/gathering in Texas. The middle of September, right after Labor Day weekend, would work for me. I am willing to share a ride, accommodations and other expenses of renting a place to meet.

Like Moe, I'm open and will keep an eye on this topic.

I'm with Moe no Holidays.... way too crazy...off season for resorts or cabins are normally good due to pricing...

Taking notes on everything and keeping everyone's ideas and suggestions in mind. We'll do our best, trust me!

This is the trip we went to Louisiana for T's Birthday.... The manager of the apartments she lived out was doing remolding on several apartments and she talked them in letting us use one for the weekend for free... All we had to do is bring our beds...

I had my queen size air mattress that laid on the floor and Krupa was going to be up town and have his up.. Well he folded out the frame and I looked at it and said hey dude where is your mattress??

The look on his face was priceless when he realized it did not have one... I was laughing so hard I was crying... Then told him he had to lay on it so I could take a picture and he had to post it on the site...

Later that night we went back to the room and he was in there laying out his blanket on the floor... Told him as long as he stayed on his side of the bed wrapped up in his own blanket we could share...

I tell ya that boy just ain't right... I laughed so hard my stomach hurt on that trip.....

I do alot of craft shows..mostly in New Mexico on major weekends, so those times are out for me. All I need is a heads up on a date and would be able to work around my shows. Sharing expenses is the only way to go. From past meets we have proved we dont need an expensive place to stay..the meets are ways to see old friends and meet new ones. We can go out to sight see or whatever, but most of us enjoy the time to just visit and get to know each other.
