People do not have the right to take anyone's life away, they did not give it to them in the first place. God gave life to everyone, it is his life, therefore he does have the right to take it away at any given instance. But that isn't specifically the case here, as they never lost their lives. We know not who lost or kept their livelihood, who died, who has eternal life, or any such thing. God's judgement is righteous.

And what difference does it make for someone to endure a few seconds to a few minutes of pain when in return are given eternal love and eternal well being never to feel any form of pain again?

And even IF they don't receive eternal life through God, what difference does it make? They are dead, never to have to endure any form of pain again.
