Sin separates us from God, and when Jesus was crucified taking all our sins on him, he then was separated from God as well. Thus why he said why hast thou forsaken me. But then he defeated what had separated him from the father and rose from the grave to return to Heaven.

Jesus is God, I used "God" as a generic term for his father in that statement.

And when Jesus was on the cross and absorbed all our sins into him, he was separated from the Father. Thus why he felt forsaken and is why he said "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me".

The father and Jesus are one spiritually, in their desires, in their goals, in how they do things. It's not like the father says they should do this, but Jesus is like "well iiiiiii don't know, maybe we should...". No, they are in agreement with one another, they are one.
