I found the same thing. the men seem to be scam artists & I guess you're finding the same with the women. who knows where some of these people really are. I reported one person but I doubt anything will be done about it. I was emailing another & he also sounded the same as the first one. I've pretty much given up on this site...

Wow.....one whole post here and ready to give up?...that's the spirit that wins a war.

Lemme clue you kids in....this is just like real life....it takes work and patience. If you want "perfect"..."right NOW!!!"

No...Or yes, maybe, can't be certain.

Check out that Soufie girl, I hear she is a robot...I heard around the grapevine that Krupa is the leader of all the bots, he is...The botmaster.

If it was reported, then YES the admins will look into it. If it's found they are a scammer then it WILL be taken care of.

Scammers are all over the internet....not just here. It happens. But this site is one of the BEST at getting rid of them, assuming the site is made aware of them...meaning people need to report them.

I take your point, but if I manage a shop I keep an eye on the store and don't just leave it to the customer's to report wrong doers. The email IP address can be quickly checked in most cases to its country of origin, so when a member completes their profile their country of origin can be checked against their email IP address
to verify. Why should people be allowed to say they reside in the UK, but have an email IP address somewhere else because they are not in the UK at all?
My experience on another dating site where people have said they live in the UK, and you find out they don't, turn out to be scammers.

Do you have any idea how long and drawn out of a process that is?

The only way the site could find them is to monitor every email here which is impossible to do and we prefer to respect member's privacy. The site has no way of knowing unless something happens and the member reports it.

There are ways to get around the IP check. This in itself doesn't mean someone is a scammer. Some people get around it for their own privacy concerns.

But the site does find many on our own, but still need to cooperation of members to find others.

But a real life shop is a bit different than a world wide internet

I can check an emails origin in 2/3 minutes, and that is manually, I am not a computer programmer but I reckon you could automate the check very easily. I do not suggest you check every email, just the first one received.

I'm sure there are ways to do this, but it would depend on money and man power. Plus there are reasons someone might not have the correct location (hiding from a cyber stalker or about to move to that location) These reasons wouldn't mean they are scammers or not legit either.

It's not as easy on the net as you might think.

But it is up to the members to help with this problem. Scammers always find new way to get around things. We can't catch them all. Members have to be cautious any where on the net and report any that haven't been caught.

Just like at a restaurant...if there is something wrong with the food or service, you have to let a manager know. The staff isn't going to taste everyone's food or watch every little move made

I understand what you say, but you have control on who you want and don't want on your dating site, and in my mind if it is clear that someone is telling lies in their profile by saying they live in one country and they don't, that should be enough to prevent them from becoming a member. It may not be possible to check everyone
for a variety of reasons, but at the end of the day it is a filtering out of more liers and scammers, time wasters, in addition to the ones you already filter out, and those reported by members. They can always appeal if they think they have been treated wrongly.

Checking IP's of every member would be impossible to do... There are so many more issues going on. When you have hundreds of members joining a day you would have to have 2-3 people just looking at this one issue...

The site does have programs on catching scammers and deal with them daily. But regardless what solution a site uses there are going to be several still get by. That is why there is a report system for the members to help red flag certain members so they can be checked..

It comes down to we do rely on the members to help the site out to find those scammers that get through... at times if one is turned in it will result finding more to one linked to the same account...But if members do not turn them in then it just takes the site a little longer finding those that are under the radar. The Report System is in place for members to use... It is up to the members to use the features that are before them....

Regardless if they are reported they are not just banned from the site they have to be checked out to make sure it was not a mistake or by someone that just did not like them and reported them.

I think there are real people here, with various agenda's. Some are seriously/honorably looking to find a fit for them, while others may flit from person to person. So it goes in life, face to face. I think you have to take it for what it is, be careful ....and patient.

Patience grasshoppa! :)

Just my 10 cents worth

It's so easy to spot a scammer within an email or two. I'm not sure what all the fuss is about.

What I have found in the 2-3 wks on this site is that some people immidiately want my yahoo address to IM & I mention to them that this site has a perfectly good IM system that works! I did give someone my email address & it turns out that it contained my entire name that I wanted to remain private till I trust someone(I have since removed/hid that part of my reply messages.) As for typos...yikes!...I make them all the tyme, but I do know what you are saying in regard to the chopped up English that sometimes comes up?!?!???
