The main question of that condescending video is "Where does the extra mass come from?"

Now if you could live long enough to watch an acorn from a giant oak tree grow into a giant tree, you might ask the same question.

The tree grew because it is alive.

Look at someone weights 400 pounds and ask them where all that "extra mass" came from.

It grew because it is alive.

Watch a tiny plant grow to a tall stalk of corn .... where does that extra mass come from?

laugh

It's cellular reproduction. Are you trying to say the Earth is doing this? Silicates aren't alive.

I am saying that yes, the earth is alive.

OMG I wonder where all this extra mass comes from?

JB are you really this stupid?

People just like plants get most of our matter from the atmosphere, and soil.

Yeh right. laugh
I think we get nutrients (energy) from the earth and sun, not "matter."

Yes, energy turns to matter eventually. I eat sugar and it turns into fat on my thigh.

The process behind growth is called cellular reproduction.

There is a name for everything I bet.

I am saying that the earth is alive. It is a living planet.

I'm sure you are. Is this worth explaining to you, or will you just dismiss it out of hand like you usually do?

Your fingernails are not considered alive either, and yet they come from a living thing, and they grow.

I am perfectly aware that people have opinions of what they consider to be "alive" and what they say is not "alive."

Fingernails aren't silica-based.

These aren't opinions, they are scientific facts. Life is carbon-based; rocks are silica based (except those derived from fossil material: coal, oil, diamonds etc.).

For that matter, where does any mass come from?

Where the does energy come from that made the mass that made the universe?

The question of where does the mass come from is a good one, and maybe the scientist that asked that question should start working on that problem.

Our known science claims that all life is carbon based... I realize this. I realize also that they and you consider that to be a "fact."

I don't think it can be proven, that life of some other form does not and can't possibly exist in the universe.

Have you considered enrolling in further education? It is helpful in understanding the world around us.

I prefer thinking for myself. College today produces cogs in the wheel who don't have a drop of imagination or creativity and who are terrified to question authority.

No thanks.

This argument is not worth pursuing, as we are talking about Earth. There are NO silica based life forms on Planet Earth. Rocks are silicates (excluding the exceptions posted above). You can dream all you like, but these terrestrial facts are immutable.

Well, you don't seem to doing a good job of it. Your assessment of University is just Bullsh*t btw.

I have a good friend who works for the Extension office. She knows what she is doing and knows everything about the system.

They hired a college graduate to be her boss... and this girl is 21 years old. She is on psychotic meds and crys all day cause she misses her mommy.

That's what college is producing, at least here in America.

NO. All of the energy that turned into matter did so eons ago. It takes FAR more energy to create matter than happen in nature to create you and me.

Sugar IS MATTER. Say it with me. Electrons are MATTER. Say it with me.

All the matter in the universe was created during the BB. We do not have matter being created in the earth JB. Its easier one of the stupidest things EVER.

To create matter artificially we have to dim the lights on massive grids to make a few particles that would make a helium atom look like the titanic next to a row boat. Far easier to release energy from matter, than to create matter from energy.

Man, the sci fi books I love eat up those kinds of ideas, but there is good practical reasons why its science fiction and not science.

One anecdote does not prove a universal. Surely, being a 'thinker', you'd realise this?

I am not talking to you anymore cause you can't do anything except insult people. Go away. You are no help whatsoever in any way shape or form.
