Owning a car, having sex, buying a new TV - These are examples of wants, which we clearly know because they are not necessities in order to live.

Air, food, water, are the major necessities required for a human to live; that is why we know these to be needs and not as much wants.

I am motivated to go run around the block even though there is no clear logic behind such. I am motivated to love even though there is no logic in our love.
