When looking for people to date, do you tend to go for those who are single, never having been married, or those who are divorced? Do you have a preference? Is there a point where you think something is wrong with someone if they've never been married? Or a point where you think someone has been divorced too many times?

This came up in another thread, but I figured it deserved it's own thread.

No preference.
But I do get a small, nervous twinge
at 'Never Been Married.'

Heeeeeeeey Emmmmmmyyyyyy ....

I like 'em divorced ... preferably with crazy ex-husbands who owe them money.

It makes date night at Sizzler seem soooooo opulent.

I'd prefer single. Statistically, 128% of the divorced ones have kids, while only 116% of the single ones do.

"never been married" would depend on their age. If they are young, no problem. If they are older, I would be extremely leary

"divorced" No problem.

I do NOT!!! get involved with married or separated individuals because that's a good way to get yourself killed.

Where do you draw the age line for never been married being ok and not ok?

Doesn't matter. Just as long as they aren't still married when/if we get serious.

It has nothing to do with "being ok and not ok"

However, after age 35 I would be extremely leary but this depends on the person's, personality. If the person was a career minded individual, that could account for the "not being married" or if the person was out going and just did not want to settle down, that could account for the "not being married"

also, a person might put "never been married" when in truth they have been married. They just don't want you to know it.

I gotta agree with you just a bit on this one soufie, especially when they are in their 40's. I mean was noone good enough or what?

I don’t know how many years have to pass by after you divorce before you can consider yourself single. I’ve been divorced for over 16 years (maybe more) and I always write that I’m single in forms and profiles instead of divorced.

I don’t really have a preference. However, if someone has been married and divorced a lot of times (more than 2 maybe) I might wonder if he is capable of being on his own. It’s important to me that I am with someone who doesn’t need to be in a relationship but chooses to grow with me.

As long as they're actually single (not separated) I don't usually have a preference. Though, that might change if they had been divorced a couple times already. I'd start to wonder if they just settle for someone to marry.

I ran into that once. She said, when confronted with the past marriage, "Well, I'm not married now."

I said, "You're not in high school now, so does that mean you were never in high school?"

Ahh, logic.
