Why do Americans seem to hate the English so much? I wouldnt judge anyone on where they come from. There seems to be so many misconceptions of England and the English. This is such a shame! |

Americans hate the English because of the English hoity-doity. Or the fags they smoke. Or the dog-ends on the pavement. Or the pikies in bushes. Or the fat Enlish birds. Or the culture (of which Americans only have the American kind.) Or the history. Or the reason the English was never beat by the Viet Kong. Or the English speak English. The Queen's. Or that the English, the stubborn bulldogs that they are, just would not admit that the plays of Shakespeare and the poetry by Milton were not written by Shakespeare and by Milton, respectively, but by the other, vice-versa, mutually and kitty-corner from each other. Or that the English prime ministers were erudite, witty and eloquent, unlike the US presidents who make their nation laugh by walking into walls and not being able to open doors (they push when they ought to pull) and by saying incredibly stupid things, mixing the verb-predicate alignment, and that the English had a world-class empire, whereas the Amys are trying to push democracy by destroying other countries' economy, infrastructure, societies, culture, education system, medicare, standard of living, and way of life. Are you implying that empire building is a virtue, sir? You realize that to build their empire, the Brits were just as violent and brutal as the "Amys" are today, yes? (even considering that they didn't have the hi-tech murder weapons we have now) Sir: please read my post again. I said NOTHING about the British buildig their empire. Please do not criticize me for things I never said, and please do not criticize me for the words YOU put in my mouth. Furthermore, dear sir, do not pick a fight when you are on the losing side. All I need to do to pick your retort apart is use YOUR technique and approach, and your objection will be diminished to rabble. However, you are safe, because when I join a debate, I do not use fallacies, I only use logic and fact. And that is the reason why I won't join you in the debate you are trying to strike up here. I won't join you, because even in your intro you use a fallacy, your premises are not true, your logic is false, and your assertion has a lie in it (namely, that I said something which I did not.) Sir, please refrain from doing this in the future. |

Are you trolling? I don't know any american that hates the british, and apparently most of the americans who are making serious posts in this thread neither hate the british or are aware of many british hating americans. |

The English are the worst cooks in the world. They badly over-cook vegetables. On the other hand . . .

I love the Brits. We love the Brits. America considers Britain it's best friend. Remember the Falkland war? I am descended from the English.
I wish we could clone your education system. Ours stinks. |

Uh...we do?
I work with a bunch of Brits and have no issues - except maybe for the fact that they are impeding the development of my Texas accent. Sheesh! |

And don't forget Doctor who. Hams especially like listening to Big Ben on the BBC shortwave.

What really pissed me off is when they turned our castle into an outhouse. I mean whats up with that? Millom castle is still standing. Well, a piece of it any ways.
http://www.visitcumbria.com/wc/millom-castle.htm It kind of reminds me of home with all that stuff growing on it. |

Which brings up a point. Why do you think Americans hate the Brits?
Gotta be a story here. |

Which brings up a point. Why do you think Americans hate the Brits? Gotta be a story here. I hear ya. Its not like they were the French and wouldn't let us put up a shortwave antenna on the Eiffel tower. Actually I heard some Hams tried to do just that. |
