Some of the Pharaohs of Egypt believed that you could take it with you. Some modern day collectors hoard stuff, too. But today I met some people who had to pay rent on their stuff in storage sheds. They were more interested in not paying rent and selling their stuff. I was amazed at all the religious stuff but bought some stuff that I could use now.

I love stuff.
If having a love of physical reality is a sin, then I'm the greatest sinner on Earth. I love physics, and physical reality. They say to put more value on human relationships then on stuff. But guess what? Humans themselves are made of stuff. And they die and disappear. All of the people whom I loved the most throughout my life are all dead now. But all my 'stuff' is still here. In fact, I really need to have a huge yard sale one of these days. |

I got this anvil that just collects dust. I have it in a closet. Dad got it for me for my birthday present and told me not to break it. I have been a good son and haven't broke it, yet. I think I could do some damage to it with a plasma torch if I tried but that would go against the agreement I made with dad not to break it. |

The Bible tells us that the meek shall inherit the earth.
I wonder if a Fender Stratocaster and Marshall Amp come with that? And electrical outlets? |

Sounds like your imaginary Lala Land, "stuff" will disappear... Mat_6:19, Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: Mat_6:20, But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: 2Pe_3:10, But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. |

Everyone is eternal spirit Cerise. Not just the arrogant Christians. Either the true nature of reality is that we are spiritual beings, or not. But this idea of an egotistical male-chauvinistic pig who lusts to be worshiped for eternity and will only 'save' people who worship him is silly. Even if it were true it would be a nightmare, not a heaven. It just makes no sense to view God as an egotistical arrogant monster. Besides, what would all the poor souls who are not God be? If they aren't God, then guess what? They'd need to be spiritual entities in their OWN RIGHT completely separate from God. But that flies in the very face of the whole spiritual scenario in the first place. So it truly comes down to either Eastern Mysticism, or atheism. These fables of angry jealous egoistical Gods who want to be worshiped by their pet humans for all eternity are about as nonsensical as it gets. |

The Bible tells us that the meek shall inherit the earth. I wonder if a Fender Stratocaster and Marshall Amp come with that? And electrical outlets? Electrical outlets. Good answer. Earth equals ground. Electrical outlets should be grounded. That is why we have earth grounds. Nice double entendre. |

The Pharaohs of Egypt believed that for they LOVED their objects and money. Objects mean nothing my friend. They are just that, objects. What would it really matter if you kept your stuff or not? |

...and then there is the previous life
the one that we were 'living' before we were even born. If we always have been and always will be then life never starts or ends..it just is, eternally. Can't kill a soul... |

I don't like having a lot of stuff, but it has nothing to do with what the Bible says. Actually, it has a lot more to do with what I have learned from Eastern spiritual teachings. And, it's done me a world of good to practice what they teach.

...and then there is the previous life the one that we were 'living' before we were even born. If we always have been and always will be then life never starts or ends..it just is, eternally. Can't kill a soul... The Mormons have a view on this. I had a man woman come to my house once who were Mormons and told me how we used to be spiritual beings before we inhabited bodies in the mortal realm. They left the book for me to read. It talked about the angel Moroni. The state of matter was a good discussion for me and a friend. Matter can change its state. For example, the changes of water. Fluid, gas and solid or water, steam and ice. The book of Ecclesiastes alludes to this in the vanity section. Even one scripture that talks about heaven and earth passing away and a new earth and a new heaven. Personally, I can't remember all my reincarnations. They can get cloudy after a while. I mean you get so busy trying to live the life you are in at the time. I am trying to deal with this life before I move on. |

Make your life as happy as you can while you have it. If you like stuff, have stuff. Just remember too much of a good thing is a bad thing so don't become a hoarder.
Our job in this life is to live our lives the best we can. Part of the best life is the enjoyables. It is also a great enjoyment in life to give to others so they can have stuff and enjoyables too. This reminds me of George Carlin and his stuff performance. It was hilarious. |

A good definition of hoarding I would think is when you have a yard sale to sell stuff that you have gotten at yard sales so you can make more room to get more stuff at yard sales.

Stuff; didn’t George Carlin have a great routine about stuff? Youtube and search “Carlin Stuff”.
I like to collect some stuff. But, not to take it with me when I die. No, I’ll leave it to my children so they have to go thru my stuff and end up selling or throwing it all way. Why, because they have their own stuff. But we do it anyway. Having stuff gives a sense of security and accomplishment. It’s silly really but we do it anyway. The more important stuff to me is less tangible. I think relationships are better stuff to have than a collection of whatever. You might not take it with you when you die but someone else, you love, will cherish it for a long time. |

I don't like having a lot of stuff, but it has nothing to do with what the Bible says. Actually, it has a lot more to do with what I have learned from Eastern spiritual teachings. And, it's done me a world of good to practice what they teach. I agree. After traveling, I started to realize how burdensome things were. I have most of my things in storage now and have had no qualms about giving things that I would previously have treasured to friends and family. It's quite freeing. |
