I wonder sometimes wheather these sites ask for your occupation for data mining reasons or just so the gold diggers can narrow the feild down quicker. How much are you influenced by the occupation of a potential match?

Good point. Yes they can sell your information to companys for spam. And there are some people looking for a relationship with your money rather than your job but in my opinion it is their so people get a better idea of who you are.
For example you could be a Butcher and someone might not want to be in a relationship with you as they could be a vegetarian.

Just more information for compatability.

I'm a gold digger. I like to see what they do for a living and how much they have in the bank, and what the balance on their cards is.

I really don't mind what they do for a living

Ok let me rephrase that ...

If they don't have ties to the Mob

it's all good bigsmile laugh

They may be the most honest and down to earth people you could ever meet. People tend to generalise about professions. I know, I used to sell insurance.

Its just another part of being compatible.

...and some people see your job as a insight to your personality. If you dont have a job, or work at a fast food joint, it could mean you have no ambition. And some people like a mate that has ambition.

I like to know someone has a job and can make their own money. Other than that, do you have a dead end job where you're going to be unhappy all the time, or do you have a job where you have goals and actually enjoy? I have no requirements on what kind of job someone has if I'm going to date them, however it can make a difference in their personality if they actually enjoy their job and actually have goals, rather than being stuck in one they completely hate and aren't going anywhere with.

It is all just info, like you might get on a first or second date...how we get to know one another and decide what works for us.

I care but it has nothing to do with how much he earns ...

What does he like about what he does? Does he feel fulfilled? Is there anything else he'd like to do? Is growth important to him? Is it similar to what I do giving us some common language?

You can learn all kinds of things about what they value, who they are, hopes and dreams ...

I am talking real life conversation ... not the superficial grocery list approach that I hear horror stores about ... shoes, watch, bank statement, car .... check, check, check, check shocked

Ok so would you consider a Volenteer worker or discount someone who's out of work for health reasons? In this day and age not everyone who's out of work is there due to lack of ambition.
