well the occupation doesn't bother me as much as when some sites ask your yearly income...that could draw the gold diggers

Having looked at the profiles of those that answered so far, it seems 2/3 are very specific and specialized occupations. rofl

OP, don't take everything you read on a dating site as gospel.

I wonder sometimes wheather these sites ask for your occupation for data mining reasons or just so the gold diggers can narrow the feild down quicker. How much are you influenced by the occupation of a potential match?

I like to know someone has a job and can make their own money. Other than that, do you have a dead end job where you're going to be unhappy all the time, or do you have a job where you have goals and actually enjoy? I have no requirements on what kind of job someone has if I'm going to date them, however it can make a difference in their personality if they actually enjoy their job and actually have goals, rather than being stuck in one they completely hate and aren't going anywhere with.

I agree.

I am anti moocher but I am pro "employed" winking

My ideal match would not have a job with a glass ceiling; room for growth is important. I hope he continues school into graduate work and wants more for HIMSELF. If he volunteers, that's great (I do too) but I have to pay my bills; therefore, I have to earn MONEY.

Ok so would you consider a Volenteer worker or discount someone who's out of work for health reasons? In this day and age not everyone who's out of work is there due to lack of ambition.

Volunteer work is a selfless gift to humanity ... it is a noble thing ...

The economy has not been kind to a lot of people. If someone is out of work but actively looking or going back to school to retrain, I have nothing but respect for that.

Out of work for health reasons ... it would depend on the circumstances. Were they physically injured at work and just needing some rehab time or did they mentally snap and put their boss through the office shredder?

Yeah, I wear my tin foil cap everytime I come on the internet.

Actually, at my age I prefer to see the word RETIRED. That way I know they have time to work around my schedule and obligations. Oh yea, occupations I wouldn't date: (a) crocodile farmer (b) sky diving teacher (c) reptile breeder (d) sumo wrestler. Sorry if I offended anyone who may work in any of these professions. They are all honest work fields.

it's so that i can avoid the cattle-ranchers and taxidermists.

They may be the most honest and down to earth people you could ever meet. People tend to generalise about professions. I know, I used to sell insurance.
that wouldn't matter, lol...

complete vegetarian and all that.

he's not trying to change your diet, forcing it down your throat or making you eat it, just making a living as most likely his family has done for generationsbigsmile you could be missing out on a wonderful person..bigsmile

I start paying to work full-time for free next week. I'll take what I can get considering it's been nearly 8 months since I graduated. If people are going to be picky about that then they can move on to the next fake profile......
