Good point. Yes they can sell your information to companys for spam. And there are some people looking for a relationship with your money rather than your job but in my opinion it is their so people get a better idea of who you are.
For example you could be a Butcher and someone might not want to be in a relationship with you as they could be a vegetarian.

Just more information for compatability.
