While I'm no fan of Fox News, I find it strange of having the appeal of censorship. I like freedom of speech, even if it's trash and not true.

Yup. No FOX or MSNBC in Canada. You get CNN and HLN only. drinker

People need to realize they are being brainwashed.

Just like the UK banned the infamous hate preacher Michael Weiner. laugh

It sounds corny, but it starts at home. Seriously, the same things have been said about violence and sex on television, but I grew up with those things on tv and still had the foundation to know right from wrong, to not be violent or promiscuous. People need to be taught at home from a young age that television,,all television, is primarily there for someone elses profit. The best way to get the truth is researching on ones own and reading. Cable and internet have opened us up to a world of misinformation. There is even a term in the dictionary 'factoid' that refers to the phenomenon of something that is stated so repeatedly and often as to become seen as FACT.

We have to be taught to be better thinkers so brainwashing cannot happen on either side. We also have to be taught that no one person is completely right or completely wrong and we all have the right to an opinion without degrading others for theirs.

I agree with Atlantis though....in America there is freedom of speech. if someone doesn't like something...don't listen. easy enough. people will be brainwashed on both sides

Fox is not fair and balanced they lean to the right they do have good news though. I prefer MSN NBC that leans to the left they are not fair and balanced either. The only one that I have seen that is fair and balanced is CNN or at least they try to be.

I tend to not care for any news media that delivers 10 percent fact and the other 90 percent personal opinion in any one broadcast, but thats just me.

I don't know who is more prone to be brainwashed. The one who gets more sources to choose from or the one who is only allowed to watch what is filtered to him. I don't want the government telling me what can I watch and what not.

Then you must agree that it's a good idea to let the "Hate America" preaching Mullahs and Imams spread their hate talk and jihad in an uninhibited fashion in their sermons. Maybe they should even have their own network to spread hate on American TV?

Why is Al Jazeera TV banned in the USA? Hmmmmmmm

Canadians have the right idea....ban the hate talk and lies on TV.

No, but Fox News might have stupid stuff, but definetly not "hate tv". Neither MSNBC.

And it doesn't matter what the tv says anyway. It's not their fault if the individuals get brainwashed by it. It's everyone's right to decide what they believe or not believe. If some gets brainwashed one way, the other other way, it's their damn fault not being smart enough to differentiate between BS and reality.

And while it's said that there is no Al-Jazeera, I wouldn't object it to have it. And I read their news site, they are fairly balanced actually, why don't you go read it and notice there is no jihad talk on it. See? you just proven that you are not making even thinking on your own and you believe what they have told you.

here look, they look normal to me, no Jihad stuff

non-American broadcasters, I don't believe are protected under freedom of speech. Just as they aren't held to our laws, as well. Broadcasters have certain laws to uphold. they can be slammed for slander and other such things as that.

I don't think one side should try to limit the voice of the other side by any means. I'm sorry but I'm intelligent enough to not believe everything I hear and I don't need the left wingers telling me what to listen to any more than I want the right wingers doing that.

+ Al Jazeera used to be a small Middle Eastern broadcasting company only confined to the middle east. Now it's grown bigger, and actually I think you can still catch their news on satellite, if not, you can google and watch their news videos.

Plus, they tried to set up their channel during a bad time, with "al jazeera" while USA was just attacked (9/11), people were very suspicious anything from the Middle east.

I don't think any new media could get to the 'big boys' anyway, regardless where it is from. I could only wish there would be more though, the more the better.

gotcha...thank you. I had never heard of them

it gives me the chills thinking that one side wants to silence another, especially if it is only pro the government. It reminds me of a time in history somewhere else that the government only wants you to hear they lo ve you and how wonderful they are etc.

it's scary to think people would like us to only hear one side or another

Banning usually makes the opposition more vicious.
Imagine if they would start banning news channels in USA based on opinion?
There would be riots all over the place.
The best thing people could do if they don't like something is boycotting them until they are bankrupt. But again, it's the people's decision and that's fine.

Atlantis..I agree. I know it was said in here before that if you don't like it...turn it off. sounds simple enough. I just don't get the "it's my way and ban everything that disagrees" crap.

On the other hand, I think most people watch Fox News or any news for entertainment purposes. That's what I do. I don't necessarily believe they are right.

Actually the Jon Stewart show makes more sense to me than the big news networks and that's supposed to be pure entertainment only.
