I will say this ONE more time. My home is where I relax and spend time with friends and family. i don't want to be disturbed by telemarketers, surveys, preaching, nothing. it is an annoyance to me...NOTHING MORE. I'm certainly not scared to learn or scared of other people's views....I just don't want them door to door

BOO... With all due respect to you, anger and outrage is sometimes the only way to get the people in Washington's attention.

Absulutely I agree with that, however which would you more likely respond to? Some one who is articulate or someone outraged and angry?
You can't deal rationally with a mob, right? Or some one assuming your intentions are bad right off the bat.

Ok time to butt back in, but with all due respect I think it's an assumption that we as Obama supporters would be outraged by someone coming to our door from the other side. Why would I be outraged? I guess I don't understand that. If they are from the other side, I would either be in the mood to hear them out, or tell them I am not interested at this time. I just feel an undercurrent of anger in this thread that scares me a bit to be quite honest.

There are things I like about Ron Paul as well, would I listen to his group if they came knocking. Yes I would because there is some interest there. Would I have wanted to hear from McCain and Palin, NO, simply because I disliked the nastiness behind their whole message. But I would not stoop to that level by being a jerk myself.

Boo, I am always surprised by the fear people have of listening to and trying to understand beliefs that are not in line with their own. They are afraid that if they challenge their foundation they will have nothing solid to stand on. People are actually afraid that they might be swayed. They might have to make a choice between what they have held as true for their whole lives, and something contrary to it. I'm friends with a man that can't even discuss dinosaurs because their very existence would challenge his beliefs. He knows nothing about them because he avoids the conversation.

Many people fear the conversation. And from that fear they weave conspiracy and hatred. It is just as evident on both sides of the political spectrum. In fact it's true across many spectrums... religious, racial, etc.

Well I understand that perfectly because I have been there myself in my younger days. Later finding out that my stubbornness was part of the reason I could not let go of things. I started listening to everything at that point, and realized that on all sides of any issue there is a point to be made that is worth paying attention to. But we as humans tend to get stuck in one way of viewing things and that's that.

Mingle has taught me a few things too, and one of them is I have no idea what label I might wear politically because I don't fit anywhere really. I like balance and if I don't have balance in my own life I can't function and I have noticed over the years what anger does to the human body and mind. Some days I can barely bring myself to read some of the posts in Mingle.

I don't understand how this got to 11 pages. It's not a big deal to me...somebody comes to your door. Answer the door or don't answer the door.

For years, the colonies tried to articulate their position to the king of england, and it didn't get them very far. You can only be polite for so long.

Dang you are so not fun today. So have you proved some thing is wrong with this project that we should be concerned with? Curious cuz I must have missed it.

I didn't say there was anything WRONG with the project except i don't want them at my door...or anyone else doing surveys etc. I don't know if there is a secret agenda behind it...i don't really care. i don't want strangers coming to my door to pledge for something i don't agree with and try to get my personal info....won't happen

I'm gonna' get back to this one. I'll join the grassroots thang and ask some questions. Perhaps, I can find more depth of what, if any, deeper agenda they have.
Will report back.
Actually, I already did. Just didn't want anyone giving them a heads up on possible infiltration.

i have joked in the past to ease some of the tension or to lighten things up...but it seems i'm not taken seriously because of that. I get called cute and patted on the head, but I'm smart. if I can't be cute and make people smile as well as be smart and taken seriously....i won't be cute
