if they come to my house, i'll probably not answer the door. i generally don't if i'm not expecting someone.

however, if i happen to feel social...i might smile and say that i hope our country moves in a positive direction but that i don't sign anything for anyone.

sounds a bit better than telling them they can shove it.

there are many articles in the media that are biased to one side or another....doesn't make the opinion less valid than the opinions here

For the people who are not aware and would like to help it is a necessity to find them. You have the right to refuse. This is America after all.

ok...maybe i have missed something here.

winx said this pledge was during the elections to support his 3 main topics.

you say it's to get people to do volunteer work

i don't think it's to get a militia either....i find it a pest though

are we all reading the same pledge?

for me it's the annoyance. i'm polite to all that come to my door should i choose to answer, but that doesn't mean i want them there.

heck, i might be running around in my jammies. or watching a movie. or eating dinner with my kiddies.

not only that, but i don't WANT to be listed as having any certain opinion. i reserve the right to change said opinion daily based on whatever information i come across.

and as to a pledge? i don't even make the pledge of allegiance; i'm certainly not making one to a man that will only be in office for a limited amount of years.

The pledge he wanted from the American people was to do volunteer work if they are able to help this country and bring us all together with one goal, to make this country all it can be.

they don't appear unrelated.

one is the actual form, and the other shows how the volunteers are supposed to go about getting signatures for said form.

I think one is for the volunteers that volunteered before the election.

The Pledge Project Canvass Guide
Get StartedBeforeDuringAfter “A budget is more than simply numbers on a page. It is a measure of how well we are living up to our obligations to ourselves and one another. It is a test for our commitment to making America what it was always meant to be -- a place where all things are possible for all people. ” - President Barack Obama

President Obama recently submitted his first budget and this bold plan is needed now more than ever as we continue to face an unprecedented economic crisis. Now it's up to you to organize the support President Obama needs for this plan throughout the country. It's the only way we'll truly get the change this country needs.

Create a Pledge Project Canvass in your neighborhood on Saturday, March 21st, to knock-on-doors and ask your neighbors to take a pledge of support for President Obama's bold approach to renew America’s economy and invest in energy, health care, and education.

This guide will provide you with all the tools and resources you need to hold a successful Pledge Project Canvass.

• A canvass is an organized effort to talk with community members face-to-face about the issues that matter to them.
• Canvassing in local neighborhoods (both at the doors and in high traffic areas) is one of the most effective ways to reach out to community members about the issues that are affecting our nation.
• In order to realize the change that we all fought so hard for, we must continue to reach out to our neighbors and involve them in this movement.
• Collecting pledges in support of President Obama’s budget and its investments in health care, education, and energy will allow us to demonstrate the urgent need for leadership in Washington around these important issues.

It is up to each one of us to take the fate of our country into our hands. Use this guide to start planning your own Pledge Project Canvass today.

I don't understand what the big stink is about here.

where does it say to do volunteer work for the communitee? like i said...i have volunteered on my own for a very long time. i don't need Obama supporters harassing me at my house to volunteer

PAID FOR BY ORGANIZING FOR AMERICA
A project for the Democratic National Committee
Address,,,,,,,,,
This Communication is not by any
candidate or candidate's committee.

Its a volunteer request form. No one is going to call you on the phone unless you volunteer.

If you don't want to talk to someone who knocks on your door all you have to say is "No Thanks."
