Has anyone ever done a census?

It is done every couple of years. It is info to take a count of people and communities.

Kat

I did back in the 80s. It is done every ten years.

I think it is a move to get signatures or support to take back to congress to show the support for those particulars.

I have no venue here. I am just trying to understand as everyone else is. I only see a simple thing being done.

I want many of those things...if it will help me and mine.....if I believe in it..I would have no problem signing anything that would help achieve it.

I think it is good that questions are being asked. It makes us all put a little research in it.

Ok guys I am not going to type this second one http://obama.3cdn.net/f784db384369464c65_nym6b54tr.pdf it's just the same as he has always said in this campaign nothing new.

The brief information is simply to send to our congressmen to ask that they help support his plans for energy etc. It's too long for me to type, but it's also nothing strange about it.

My representatives can get this information in a number of ways so it's nothing I personally am going to worry about anyway.

It's not suprising to me that Obama would want to know just how many people are interested, why should he kill himself if no one is interested. If we are interested then he wants to be sure that we actually are serious and that the congress knows how many are serious so the data, our names addy etc will go to congressmen.

UPDATE.

http://www.mcclatchydc.com/251/story/64644.html

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama's army of canvassers fanned out across the nation over the weekend to drum up support for his $3.55 trillion budget, but they had no noticeable impact on members of Congress, who on Monday said they were largely unaware of the effort.

Over the weekend, Obama supporters knocked on an estimated 1 million doors in all 50 states. Canvassers asked people to sign a two-point pledge saying that they support Obama's "bold approach for renewing America's economy," and that they'll ask family, friends and neighbors to back it

I like that so many people are finally getting involved in politics. I remember people getting involved in the 50's and 60's. It took a recession to get it started again.

i am talking to anyone that keeps saying it's no big deal yadda yadda yadda. to them it may not be. but obama isn't heading this up....total strangers are. not the government....strangers. so YES i want to know more about what all the info is going to be used for. if they just want to know who supports him....they don't need all the other info....a signature should do. or just hand people something with that site address so people can sing up there. if others are ok with it...great. but some aren't or are leery of it and wanting more information than what the site gives.

I agree with you. I think it is sooo great that people have come together and made their thoughts so clear. It has been a long time since I can remember people actually calling a spade a spade and collecting evidence to realize a fact or fiction. And standing up against wrongs and the government. It is so awesome.

I credit the net for this.

I have two fake email addresses. It makes no differenc...if anyone smart enough wants an addy or info bad enough....they will find.

We are all connected to the net with a carrier. No probs.

Aaaaauunnnnddddd.....when a word or name is mentioned at any time of interest to the govenment...they look at it.
Such as "terrorist" or "Obama" "Homeland security" Many words are triggers for the Secret Service to look at.

We can't hide for long.

Kat

Absolutely, we each have an ip address, our information is in the data base of our service provider. Anyone can create and email addres on yahoo hotmail where ever, you don't have to type in your real name, but you also don't have to show it either, you have options in that same email program what to show and what not to. My yahoo won't tell you anything I don't want you to know, but you can be the government local and otherwise already knows you and where to find you. That's not new anyway.

On the other hand, Obama might just want to know how many and who will not sign loyalty to him.
Goes both ways.

I understand what you are saying, the site gives a link to Obama's site where you can get more information about this pledge drive. He knows about it... I wouldn't just give my information to just anyone either that walked up to my door, I would want to see more than just a pledge sheet, that is why there is so much more information and materials there and a phone number to call.

The info is going to be used to convince congress that there are enough people who want this plan to work.. You can go to Obama's site and see it's affiliated with the dnc. I suspect that signatures are not enough to convince congress, after all if we are supicious they are too and would want more than just a sig.

Just how many do you think will sign? So what, he will assume all those that didn't sign are against him? And just how would he know those against him? They obviously won't be the ones signing? The ones signing it will be the ones wanting to put some effort into his plan. Sorry Willing, that makes no sense. I would have to sign a pledge that gave me the option to NOT support him, why the heck would anyone sign the a pledge to not support him?

OK, if it was me in power, I'd know for sure who my allies were with the signed contract. By signing that form , makes you legally bound to act when called upon.
I would have to suppose, the fence-straddlers and those who openly opposed me, were against me and are a liability to be dealt with.

Willing,

It's not a legal contract. It's about being a volunteer.

I think it's about collecting signatures to show support for his plan. And also to email or text people regarding what's going on. He did that before the election too and still is doing that. He's big about using the internet. He used text messages with the young people before the election. It's more of the same.

Now willing...that is too funny. I am no more legally binded to him than you are. I am a supporter. I get emails of thank yous and ways to make my voice heard. Nothing legally binding.
