The State of Washington on Wednesday - 11 February 2009 and most recently, New Hampshire [2009], Montana [2009], Hawaii [2009], Michigan [2009], Missouri [2009], Arizona [2008], Oklahoma [2008], Georgia [1996], and California [1994] all of which have introduced bills and resolutions declaring and reaffirming their sovereignty. Some other states have done this in the past but then let the issue go. Additionally, the states of Colorado, Hawaii, Pennsylvania, Arkansas, Idaho, Indiana, Alaska, Kansas, Alabama, Nevada, Maine, and Illinois are considering similar measures. More well may follow, such as Wyoming and Mississippi.

Why? What do they know already, that is coming, that they are not telling us?

Sorry, but I can't believe anyone is even asking this question. Pres hussein is trying to set things up so that our country will be so devastated that we will NEVER RECOVER. It is the best way to check this moronic bastard.

Look, in all fairness, Obama is very bad, but he is no worse that Bush, or Clinton, or Bush Senior...

Fanta is bringing up the point that this movement started before Obama.
I have not tracked that and this is new to me. I only heard of Texas and N.H. before.

So, if Fanta is correct, then may-be this started as a measure to fricking finish this collectivist madness all together, be is Obama, Bush, Clinton, or Reagan, or whoever. Damn it, can we have ONE, just ONE truly American president, and not some collectivist?

Fanta has earned my respect and deserves itflowerforyou . He does not take me personally because he understands I speak in a larger sense than one individual. Oh and Fanta I could not find the start of this "movement" so I believe some of the states are on board now that Obama is in.

I have been reading up on this. Do you know that the reasons besides the possible racists of course, is the second amendment for a few and the SCHIPP program for others. The SCHIPP program is a child health care plan for lower income people who do not qualify for medicaid so children can get healthcare. Now this program is designed for those working but not making enough for healthcare for their kids. Obama signed an expansion of this program into effect and it requires that each state accommodate the plan which may cost them. They want to exert sovereignty to the possible end of secession because they do not want to fund a program to help the children. Unbelievable really.

It is still a free country with respect to the fact that if you want to help those children, go right ahead and do it.

It is always easy to create programs while intending to force other people to pay for it.

That's what they call an unfunded mandate and it's exactly the reason states have had it up to here with the federal government. the schip pushed the income limit up to the high 60's. It shouldn't be a huge problem to insure any number of children making 60K/A. you should even be able to pay it before taxes. but that's beside the point. The issue is that the Fed Gov continues to treat the states as its agent, as a dispensatory instrument of a centralized government. This is exactly why the Constitution reserves the states the rights to call for a constitutional congress and depose an authoritarian, tyrranical government.

It's not about the children. Quit using "the children" as political human shields. That's exactly what you're doing when you cry about political opposition for the sake of the children. You use them as political cannon fodder.

I did not such thing, you may use children as whatever you called them but I do not. Children are a serious thing and you don't play with that.

States do not want to fund insurance for the middle to lower class children in their own state and will chose to secede from the union to avoid it. You can't get any straighter than that.

What happened the last time states Ceeded from the Union?

1860?

Civil War????

It will never happen because the Union will step in...

And they will use tanks and planes and missiles this time.

The Civil war actually in casualty figures actually outstripped WWI in raw brutality and blood shed.

The casualty rate of the Civil War was greater than ALL other wars the United States has been involved in COMBINED.

you're all pathos and no logos.. the issue is a little more complicated than Rev. Lovejoy's wife makes it out to be. Texas will take care of her own children. Florida, California and the other 47 states can do the same without the Federal Government (and it's flabergasting capacity to waste money) micromanaging the affair...

Quit using children as human shields.

How many Colorado Children could have been insured for a year with the amount of money it took to fly Nancy Pelosi back and forth across the country this week? How about that lovely trans-European Valentine's Day get-away? How about Obama's new helos?

I have noticed some party bashing going on and in all fairness to those that think the GOP is racist I gotta ask why Condoleza Rice who is a black woman of very high standing in the GOP a Republican? She is as black as night but she mingles with the racist whities?

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.......

Colon Powel? Republican and Black...

Larry Elders?? Black and GAY And a Republican.....

Double Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.......

States Ceeding from the union is not a racial thing at all in any way. If it was there would be a state wide purge of undesirable elements.

Heck, racism works all the way around. How about all those colored folk who hate white folk? OH, the PC crowd accepts their anger and hostility because of what whites did to them. This thinking has to stop. Why is it there are so many people who can't get past the frikken 1960s?

Oh I guess you are refering to the token folks they tolerate in their midst to smooth over the fact that the underlying base is racist? This is how I see it from my experience with republicans. If you don't see that way, that doesn't make me wrong either.

Racism comes in all forms but the white racism has been the most harmful regardless to whatever you think about it. What reason do the whites have to hate any other races? What have all these other races done to them for the deep seated hatred? Minorities have suffered at the hands of white prejudice for a long time now. Some of the suffrage is from the ignorance of whites to their racist raisings and affiliations. Other is straight out and out hatred.

Racists are very political now and they do not come right out and say that is why they are doing what they do, they hide behind any politial stance to further their agenda. In other words most of the Republican agendas fit them perfectly. Smaller government because it hard to work your hatred if the government gets in the way. Entitlement programs because the racists believe that all minorities are lazy slobs who just want the government to pay their way.

I guess the SCHIPP program could fit the racists agenda too because it might help minorities also, they probably got on this bandwagon since welfare got reformed and they can't scream about it anymore, well at least the informed racists can't.

so basically, your view of white people is that there those whites that are racist and know it, those that are racist but don't know it, and those that have realised the error of their forefathers way and are nice, docile little liberals like you?

Is that about the sum of it?

I just want to make sure I understood you clearly on this.

Yes its true Dragoness.
Alaska has been trying to secede since the 60's. Vermont and N Hampshire for at least the last ten!

The article I posted was the third annual secession conference.
