I did not see her shoving but stating the biblical reasons for stoning and she may have missed a few. Shame of the biblical teachings is a personal problem. And comparing stoning people to abortion is not a valid comparison at any level. Just as being pro-life and believing in the death penalty is contradictory. I am seeing a bit of hypocracy here. No offense intended, just confusion. |

 I see my op has been takin' slightly out of text, no matter though it produced quite a discussion. Which is all I was aiming for, my favorite post so far that i've read, basically said " kick rocks and go to a christian singles site" good times. I have never attacked anyone's choice on the subject, nor have i claimed to be a marter or oppressed. Just merely throwing up something in the air i notice in the world and in the church. The op had no underlying meaning, no need to be analyzed to form conclusions based on my use of adjectives. Rock on my bruddas and sistas.

I notice alot of people come under attack for being "Christian". People like to point fingers at our short comings. Lets ponder this.... If I believe in God and my proof is only in my faith, then i spend my life based on the teachings of Jesus and try to be a better man. When i die if there is no God, then I've spent my life seeking peace and happiness through helping other people and then if I'm wrong there's nothing. What have i lost? But if you as someone who doesn't believe in God spends their whole life doubting a divine creator, living for pleasing themselves and what they can get out of life. What if when you die there is a God ? Then what have you lost? I think I'd rather live by faith and be wrong, than live by doubt and be wrong. So my question is what do you think? And what's the point of your life?  I seek truth for truth's sake. I have faith in whatever truth is. God or not, what is ... is. I do not live in doubt. I know I exist. That is all I know. That is all any of us can know. Do I believe in ancient scriptures of myth and dogma? Not really. But that has little to do with anything in my reality. Do I disbelieve it? Not really. Some of it could be true. It does not matter. |

I was the one that told you to do that and it would behoove you to refer to me by name. I merely pointed out to you the reason why this thread would be met with such annoyance and exasperation. You have General Religion and you have Christian Singles. If you want to state that you are being attacked (or that Christians) are being attacked for their beliefs on this forum then you will receive an ear full. I realize it is a highly subjective topic because probably many of us posses differing opinions about what constitutes a soul or spirit. To me, it is entwined with our individual life force and personality. Its what makes each one of us unique and different. Who here has had a pet and recognizes that they can be very different from one another? I guess it is a topic for another thread.

I read you piece on believing or not believing and find it very, very interesting..I just wanted to tell you that...I sometimes think those things myself...but I know I shouldn't feel that way about God...he will punish me...you are very brave and NO, I would not be angry if everyone got into heaven no matter what they believed....

I see my op has been takin' slightly out of text, no matter though it produced quite a discussion. Which is all I was aiming for, my favorite post so far that i've read, basically said " kick rocks and go to a christian singles site" good times. I have never attacked anyone's choice on the subject, nor have i claimed to be a marter or oppressed. Just merely throwing up something in the air i notice in the world and in the church. The op had no underlying meaning, no need to be analyzed to form conclusions based on my use of adjectives. Rock on my bruddas and sistas. It's just not that simple when you're talking about religion. My family truly, like most other Christians, feel like they are fighting for my eternal soul. And everyones ele's eternal souls. When you truly believe in something, no matter what religion you are, you will go out spreading it to others. you have to. You also must denounce other people's religions as wrong because you are being told, yours is the only right one. And you can't do both. You can't truly be a Christian and then agree with the Jehovah Witness that knocks on your door. |

But if you as someone who doesn't believe in God spends their whole life doubting a divine creator, living for pleasing themselves and what they can get out of life. What if when you die there is a God ? Then what have you lost? I think I'd rather live by faith and be wrong, than live by doubt and be wrong. So my question is what do you think? And what's the point of your life? "DeKLiNe0fMaN"... if that was true then you would also be praising Allah and Zeus and all the other Gods because what if they actually exist see how your reasoning falls into the realm of delusion and paranioa Just because some people believe differently than you do, doesn't mean they're delusional. |

I read you piece on believing or not believing and find it very, very interesting..I just wanted to tell you that...I sometimes think those things myself...but I know I shouldn't feel that way about God...he will punish me...you are very brave and NO, I would not be angry if everyone got into heaven no matter what they believed.... |

Freewill is a beautiful thing. I choose not to believe in Christianity because I CAN. It's a risk I'm willing to take. I like to live dangerously.

I think it was said best by Bill Maher in Religulous, basically, if you are believing simply to take the "safe bet", then that is the wrong answer. In my own opinion, if a god exists, and it is the Judaeo-Christian god, then all those who are believers simply to take the safe bet, will find themselves right next to the unbelievers. And what's the point of your life? Religion does not provide a meaning to your life, it only gives the illusion of a meaning. |
