Topic: Is Obama really christian | |

OK, don't bite my head off.
During the primaries or was it the general, anyway when questions came up about Rev Wright, and we found out that Wright brought Obama to Christ or God, I wondered about whether Obama came to religion out of necessity rather than from a fundamental belief in it. Though he tends to speak kinda like a preacher, I wonder if maybe he feels he had to be a Christian to become president... Before you knock that, we voters have forced people to be something they are not, so I don't find that a particularly bad thing, though it surely becomes confusing. We really shouldn't set up our nominees that way... I get the feeling that his heart is not really into it. Or maybe I just can't believe someone that smart would be swayed by religious dogma and biblical rhetoric. Not that smart people can't be Christian. I tend to think that Christianity is more emotional than intellectual by nature..And that emotionally people sincerely want to believe that their God is perfect and there for them, even when it may not be the case. Anyway I get the feeling that Obama is more liberal in his spirituality than one might wish him to be or one might expect of him. Not sure I said any of this right, but what the heck it will start the conversation. Ok if you have to bite, don't bite too hard.. grin! |

Religion shouldn't come up in politics, period...this is why our country will never be able to stand on stable ground, it is constantly swayed by "this God, or that God" and we can't get the root of the problems resolved.

Is Obama really a Christian?
Geez, I hope not! |

This country was founded "Under God". Some people need to study the Constitution and Bill of Rights.
To answer your question, from what I have seen Barfy Hussein is a Muslim. Now if he changed his faith to Christianity, then all his Islamic buddies are gonna be out to chop his head off. Those Muslims are funny like that. |

Is Obama really a Christian? Geez, I hope not! Yes I know exactly what you mean. I hope not also, but I do wonder if he feels obligated to align with them to get anything done. It's a sorry place to put possible presidents, we know full well that if Obama told the voters that he was not particularly religious that he most likely would not be where he is now, or am I wrong? Christians make up people in both parties, so it would appear that both sides would expect him to toe the line when it comes to issues about religion. |

Yea some odd thousands years ago, evolution my friend...we are a new generation. Constitution and Bill of Rights? So where are these at with the Patriot Act? God and politics should be a seperate entity, for this silly arguments very reason... |

Well that explains the mentality of the remarks. I did look, but after the barfy hussein it was apparent I wasn't going to get anywhere with that mentality. The UnderGod thing just sounds like Palin remark. I can't see where under god comes into the constitution or the bill of rights other than freedom of or from.. but I could be corrected on that... However, that still doesn't make it right when clearly there were not just christians in this country before and after. |

And who's to say that Allah, the Muslim god is the false one and the Christian god is the real one? Maybe it's Buddha we should all be praying to...! Ceremonial deism is a legal term used in the United States for nominally religious statements and practices deemed to be merely ritual and non-religious through long customary usage. Proposed examples of ceremonial deism include the reference to God introduced into the Pledge of Allegiance in 1954, and the phrase "In God We Trust" on U.S. currency. Please show me the proof that the "god" being referred to is in any way related to the god of the Christian bible. |
