The nation was not literally set upon Christian principles either. Some Christian principles coincide with the nations base but not all. So that is a stretch also.

And for our nation to abide by Christian principles to make it "better" is a religious bias that seems to be allowed but it does not make it correct. Religion is not the moral compass for prosperity. It is a matter of personal beliefs that work for each person and they are all different.

Well I don't know who "you people" may be but those are words of the prejudice used to divide people when we are really all the same cloth. If that doesn't apply to you then I will apologize but statements of "you people" "those people" etc... are divisive and prejudice statements.

As for the back fire, there will be none. You will see that the balance of respecting all will even the score in the long run.

Uh...I think the founders knew the difference between govt. tyranny enough to know the progression that led to govt. arrogance & human exploitation. That's why they wrote... We hold these truths that all men are created equal...with unalienable RIGHTS endowed by our CREATOR to life liberty & the pursuit of happiness. Then they even listed them so there would be no mistake about what those rights are & what they mean to each person. All those who voted for any democrat sold their rights down the toilet. So all the talk about the Patriot Act or Guantanimo is more hypocrisy. Let's not go there.

These rights are NOT subject to men or govts. but our Creator so I guess the founders were honest enough to know that God given rights are not something any man should take away...or govt. for that matter.

I hope & pray that the SHIFT that many people want in this country is upon us truly - a shift in awareness, a shift in acceptance on all different levels, a shift of non-judgment, a shift in finding NEW truths for us to build our world on and to create peace for many to cherish and enjoy around the world.

With greater powers comes greater responsibilites. May we find that responsiblity to SHIFT this country towards a compassionate and strong nation for many to follow.

it was redily apparent all were of the SAME PROCESS, breath, blood, body, brain, no matter what each one personally thought that might be, some thinking as a CREATOR CALLED HAPPENSTANCE, or a CREATOR CALLED GOD ALONE, or a CREATOR CALLED NATURE, or a CREATOR CALLED JESUS, or a CREATOR CALLED SATAN, or a CREATOR CALLED BUDDHA, or a CREATOR CALLED ALLHA, or a CREATOR CALLED MOTHER EARTH, and this redily apparent as many of these founding father of todays children, were of MANY FAITHS, some as MASONS, some as HEATHENS, some as CHRISTAINS, some as HUMANITARIANS, some as ATHIEST, some as ADULTERS, some as DEBTORS, some in SECRET SOCIETIES, but all knowing and seeing an ultimate greater truth, THAT ALL WERE EQUAL, and that each personal belief in the heart, did not give power to subvert anothers free will, and that such things did not determine nor decide the worth of another human being, as they have come to in present days.........

but even with all the mixed belief's and the same pride and feelings as today, such things of personal religion of divide were intentionaly left out, to preserve the greatest power and intelligence, the protecting of common interest and prosperity of the human spieces for survival and happy life of all?

all debates such as these were left out with the wise seeing WHAT "HOLY" OR "ONE" NAME OF ANY CREATOR could be debated unto infinity, and, America being founded on the embracing of all peoples, regardless of race and creed and sec and nationality, SUCH THINGS WERE DEEMED AS SECONDARY, not as PRIMARY as purtorted now individual secs seeking to purpose the self interest of "personal religious belief's imposed upon all........

if names do not make or tell who or what one be on earth, but rather the motives of the heart, and these be what each really speak one to another, then surely it is seen the type of words used matter not most, but rather hidden motives that subvert equality with deception?

the founding fathers and all ancients most point to NOT having a DEFINED MORAL CODE FOR SPIRITUAL BELIEFS, and only laid down at the time their GREATEST RENDERING of fair and equal for all.......

even this, if we are to believe mankind be an intelligent spieces, growing in wisdom and understanding with time, as right along with technology, then we should likewise NOW see even MORE WHAT IS EQUAL THAN THEN?

But, I keep finding it odd how people keep thinking the God of Christianity and the God of Islam are completely separate deities.

Three totally different faith structures have developed that point to the same God. Actually, there are four. The Bahi'i (sp)faith incorporates the holy texts from the Jewish, Christian, and Muslim faiths as well as believing there was yet another prophet after Muhammad. Of course, they go farther and say all world religions come from the same ultimate source so that might set is a bit aside from the other three religions that are all tied back to Abraham.

Onto my other thoughts.

While Buddha isn't a god, and Buddhism is at heart a philosophy, the way it is practiced and used as a way to shape life styles and behavior is not at all different from religion. Also, the fact that they have people who devote them selves to monastic lives dedicated to prayer, meditation and ritual also leads me to feel that Buddhism is now a religion, even if that was not the direction or intent of it.
